Hendo might not have lasted five rounds with Franklin. He gassed really bad. I’m not so sure that was an accidental eye gouge either. Looked more like a ‘how do I get this guy off my ass’ tactic.

Rich got robbed! Won the stand up handily and prevented taking any damage from on bottom. The only time rich was damaged in the fight was when he was headbutted and poked in the eye, both illegally.

I cannot believe some here are saying Rich was robbed! Even his CORNER said he needed a KO in the 3rd to win. The guy who judged 30-27 for rich needs his eyes checked. Dan won the fight fair and square, it was close, but Dan did more damage and did more control. Rich was too tentative and only until he really needed to win did he bother trying. Dan 29-28 was the score. Dan was the winner, no doubt.

Henderson easily won that fight, no robbery at all. He landed more power shots, controlled most of the fight and took Rich to the floor a few times.

Only thing rich really did was land 5-7 body kicks and nothing else.

I’m guessing because Rich is a fan favorite that people are looking for reasons for him to win. The headbutt and eye poke both were accidental.

I also like how Rogan was pumping Rich up way to much… i laughed at the vicious ground and pound supposedly that Rich had when he tapped the side of hendo’s shoulder once… yet when Hendo elbowed and bounced Rich’s head off the ground he was silent.

I also don’t understand why he think Hendo gasses easily? Did Hendo not hang in for 15 grueling minutes against Rampage??

I can’t believe you Rich fans. Listen to Rich’s CORNER in between rounds 2 & 3… He needed a KO to win. They knew it, I knew it, we all knew it. It was a 2 round to 1 victory to Dan. And you dont get 3 cuts on your head from a glancing headbutt. And the eyepoke was inconsequential, there was 30 seconds left… Very close, 2 great MMA fighters, but Dan won. A few body kicks to Rich dont get the W. And Rich wasn’t gassed, he went harder with Rampage for 5 rounds.

this fight couldve gone either way the first round was a toss up. after hendo got that takedown and landed that initial damage he kinda sat back for the rest of the round allowed rich to land some strikes including a lot of solid body kicks. round 2 i think dan took based on control and take downs but round 3 EASILY rich had it. good fight couldve gone either way thanks for posting!

Good fight, lucky for Hendo it only went 3 rounds. Timely “accidental” eye gouge. It gave Hendo the time he needed to recover. Without that eye gouge I think Rich might have won the fight. Either way both men are great fighters, I hope there is a rematch after Bisping exhausts Hendo. I really cannot wait to see Bisping get slaughtered by Silva. I hope that fight is not on ppv. I did not pay for this fight and never would. What a joke. I won’t really respect the UFC unless Dana brings Fedor in and lets him eat Brock for lunch.

The more that the UFC pushes their TV show fighters the MORE boring the UFC becomes. Is anyone else tired of the UFC pushing these guys as headliners…take a look at thier next few cards after the GSP fight.

This was a close fight, but the scoring system has to be restructured. You shouldn’t be able to score BIG points just for holding a guy down. Control is of course important, but this sport is about inflicting Damage. Hendo got in some good shots on the ground in the 1st round, but most of the damage he inflicted on Franklin was while standing, with a headbutt and an eye poke.
Rich Franklin clearly out struck and out ‘Damaged’ Hendo. But, within the structure of the current scoring system Hendo won. Good Job Dan Henderson!

Though, I thought Franklin took the fight 29-28; He won rounds 1 and 3 easy, and didn’t hardly take any dmg from the bottom when taken down. Oh well..Go Team USA!

what i think alot of you guys dont understand is the way the judges score the bout. they dont score fights like how you would judge who wins an afterschool brawl (which is in my opinion pretty stupid). they judge based on control in the standup and ground game and each fighters i guess technical skills during the fight. its not like in pride where you get points for trying to finish the fight. and that is why in the ufc you see alot of boring fights, fighters know what they have to do to win and if all they have to do is control the guy on the ground thats all theyre going to do. just look at bj vs gsp 1 my boy bj put gsp in the hospital with a broken nose and i think a swollen rib cage but bj still LOST by split decision. so the judges are consistent they always give it to the guy who CONTROLLED the fight not who got a couple GREAT strikes in……which is imo VERYVERYVERY STUPID! cus no one likes watching a boring wrestler

This reminds me of GSP vs BJ PENN 1 – someone who was in serious trouble in the standup took the winning fighter down a few times and held him there, doing no damage whatsoever, attempting to recover: nd then somehow, amazingly, that guy wins the decision. Bad scoring, r1- 10-9 hendo, r2 and r3 10-9 Franklin – HORRIBLE JUDGING, get off hendo’s nutsack, you can’t genuinely say he won that fight. And to the people saying “listen to franklins own corner before round 3, they were telling him he was losing”, that isnt at all what they were saying, they were saying to land big shots and finish strong, not that he was going to lose if he didn’t knock him out, thats ridiculous. Im sick of seeing people win fights for taking someone to the ground and doing NOTHING to them, especially when they are getting devastated in the stand up. Oh, and by the way, maybe 1 accidental cheapshot (the first headbutt) shouldn’t weigh into the judges decisions, but by the second time, YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT INTO CONSIDERATION in the judging. Who cares if its accidental, if you land 2 big cheap shots in the course of 1 fight “accidentally”, it is your fault, and you should be more cautious of the rules of the fight. Rich was absolutely robbed. I don’t like either of these guys particuarly, but anyone who vouches for henderson winning this is a hendo-nut-hugger!

woolslayer – Watch the fight again. I’ve watched it 5 times and Hendo wins round 1 and 2. And round 3 was hardly decisive. The VERY BEST Rich franklin could argue for would be a DRAW. A very close fight, but they hardly damaged each other did they? ANd how could 1 headbutt make 3 cuts on rich’s head?

Seriously you MMA kids need to watch more MMA. Hendo won, case closed, get over it.

Its clear Hend couldn’t do S**T all to hurt Franklin when he had him on the ground, no domination at all so NO he didn’t win on the takedowns (final one you can see Franklin hitting him more than Hend did). I’d score this fairly as giving Hend round 1, round 2 I’d favor Franklin but overall round a tie, with the final round CLEARLY going to Franklin. Personally I think Franklin won in the end, Hend was dead tired and that eye poke again clearly showed he was almost done if it went on longer. He was so gassed he was throwing out an open hand, many fighters do this when gassed out and not forming a fist. I’ve kicked boxed before and look at others while your training with just wraps on and you see it all the time. This should have gone another round but with what happened (headbutt, fingers in the eye) it would have changed the outcome (and obviously did in a 3 round fight as Franklin was out boxing him and might have dropped him). It should have been a draw judging the fight per round but it was a win for Franklin overall, Hend did nothing that fight (not as bad as Shogun though) that would give him the fight, check the replays there is nothing from him just replays of the headbutt and eye poking.

no idea how dan won, but i like dan better and it will make the TUF more interesting cos we have already seen rich as a couch. so its all good. i really wish they would get a more technical judging system totally designed for MMA

i think it was pretty even. i’m a franklin guy myself. but i like dan henderson as well. and no doubt about it henderson had the first round. probably a 10 8 round possibly. 2nd round i would give to franklin not only because of his stand up but also when he was taken down he nullified everything dan henderson threw at him so i think that round went to franklin. and the last round i think, obviously franklin, and as for the eye poke.. completely accidental like they said it looked like he was trying to perry the punch.
i would have called it 29-28 franklin…but i’m not a judge. it was a good fight it could have gone either way and the judges just saw it in favor for henderson.

nice fight dan; clearly took all kicks and punches thrown his way; hit rich w/ a bunch of heavy rights/ and took him down a bunch and probably caused some of the three cuts to the head w/ elbows; legal too… head butt and finger that rich walked or ran into; was not dans fault, no way; ; ;; dan won; thats that and a clear win also; & backed it up w/ tko of b uk guy.
