thanks for all the work bruno. Got up late so I only caught this fight. From what I read about the event, this was definitely the highlight.
Rich was doing better earlier in the fight when he would throw combinations back out of the pocket. He just looked like he was getting lazy with his technique towards the KO

drop step by cung le …watch his feet right before he hits and right during…he hopped into it …putting all his weight into the hook….read dempsey…look up drop step…he really didnt need alot of torque…he had the drop step going

@ MuffDiggler… Rich Franklin would never take a dive. You’re right that it was ‘good’ for the UFC to have Cung Le win, but no way in hell was Rich bombing this fight. He went in to win, and got caught.
This is just a lesson in defence. I watched the fight having seen this gif. This was the third or fourth time Rich threw that right leg kick like that with his left hand dropping as he threw, and Cung only just missed with his counter a few times. Cung Le showed good patience, timing and precision to get this KO.

Looks like Franklin eyes Cung’s left, and never sees the right. Which would also explain the loading of Franklin’s lead hook to counter the cross.

seriously if cung le started in his early 20s he could have been Anderson Silva. Since he did it late we will just c how many fights he has until injury ends career.
