This was an exciting fight in Rick Franklin’s home town of Cincinnati. Franklin looked much better in this fight and the bout lasted a bit longer. He has improved a lot on his defense of the clinch but would it be enough.
Anderson Silva is always dangerous but Rich came out swinging and was not tentative. It made for a much better fight than last time.

franlin seems to have lost his fighting edge–and americans are the best fighters in any fight game —not brazil nuts—franklin will get his hunger back and then we’ll se huh
Franklin came out in the second round looking very much like a man that didn’t want to be there.
Franklin’s a smart guy and should be doing something else with his life. You gotta really wanna be in this game.
I wouldn’t cry if I were Franklin because Silva is really that good.

ok guys let me settle the dumb argument about americans vs brazilians. It does not mater what country they are from. Let’s face it theres good fighters from every country. He idea that americans are the best just shows how dumb americans are. What it comes down to is training. I’m not talking about who is in better shape or who is stronger. I am talking about technical training. Silva is superior to any fighter that I have seen in the UFC by far. His understanding of timing and angles is amazing. The way he stays calm and moves towards people when they throw at him shows understanding of where it is safe to be during an exchange. His ability to slip and avoid is amazing watch when theres 22 second left in the fight. Silva won this fight because he understand where to be in order to avoid getting hit while he makes contact, because he knows how to make opponents commit to their attacks before evading them and because he can draw opponents in. He broke Franklin’s will. It’s impossible for your will not to be broken when you get hit every time u try to attack. Trust me I do martial arts and I have been in the ring with great fighters, not matter how strong you are, you will eventually get frustrated and lose yourself.

Great point Dosed. And Jack, What in the hell are you talking about. Rich was done in the first round. he obviously looked like he didn’t want to be there half way through the round and the bell saved him at the end of the round. Rich is a good fighter, that’s why he was the Champ; he improved a little bit against the clinch but he didn’t learn how to get out of it, and i don’t know if he could have gotten out of it with someone like Silva. Silva is just on another level than Rich.
Franklin looked slow in his punches and not as natural. Silva has a lot more natural talent. Franklin is not even in the same league as Silva, even Lyoto Machida knocked out Franklin before. But it’s typical of UFC to try to promote American fighters rather than foreign fighters. The middle weight is pretty weak in comparsion to the light heavy and welter weight.
Silva proves again that he is light yrs. ahead of the competition…Silva is a beast. There’s nobody even close. Great defense, nerves of steel, accurate & relentless striking. WOW. He’s worth watching for sure. Unlike that clown Bisping…whom I can’t believe is headlining UFC 78.
Okami is logically next in line, and Silva wants that rematch…
after Silva beats him, I’d like to see GSP move up in weight and ‘work his way up’ to Silva. GSP is a phenom too, he’d have to get use to the weight, and be up to the challenge.
i vote for henderson vs silva next; or at least fraklin vs henderson
i think dose is right about the fact that it doent matter where you’re from. im in martial arts too, and anyone who trains will agree that you can always be defeated. we are all human. we all bleed. noone is special in that manner. even Silva can be beaten…..just not by franklin!
I would like to see Shogun Rua move down in weigh to fight Silva.

Rich Franklin is one of the best middle-weights ever but right now i have to say that he is not better than Silva, its been awhile since i’ve seen someone finish fights like he does. Reminisent of Vitor and Chuck but one thing to not is that Silva surpasses them because he mixes it up like non other. Great Fight Silva, hope Franklin recovers quick because he can do better.
Silva has been beaten if im not mistaken.. and by pretty crappy fighters.. I know he’s lost in Pride.. I think the man has just got exponentially better… he trains with Chute Boxe does he now? I mean who has even seen him on the ground… Travis Lutter fight perhaps? the guy was trained by BIG NOG… dangerous man.. I have a feeling.. silva fights, he lives to fight. when a man does nothing but fight no one can fight against him and expect to win.

Ace, Silva has been PRACTICING martial arts since he was a teen. If that’s what you mean by NATURAL, than that’s good.
Silva’s Muay Thai is almost flawless.
Franklin is a scrub. He has a great record, but hasn’t best anyone. Like butterbean -except he looks better.
