Log in to Reply failsonnen October 16, 2012 I wish there were better kickers in MMA. Too many boring wrestlers and haymaker throwers. It’s going to be a while till we see another Cung le, Anderson Silva, Anthony Pettis kick. I say bring that Marcus Aurelio Capoeira guy into the UFC. That jump switch kick K.O. was pretty sick. Log in to Reply tobes October 16, 2012 @ DavidJones – obviously Rich knows that Cung Le is a better kicker than most wrestlers. What he’s saying is that ON TOP of being a world san shou champion/ world class kickboxer, Cung Le has fantastic wrestling. You see other stand-up fighters lose their nerve because they are worried about getting taken down. Takedowns are actually a big part of San Da/San Shou, and Cung Le wrestled through high school and college. He’s a more well rounded fighter than most people think. Rich has a good chance to win this fight with his conditioning. Rich thinks Cung won’t use his wrestling offensively, but I think Cung will in fact take him down a few times to rack up some points and will out-strike him to win round 1 (and possibly win round 2). Unfortunately for Cung, conditioning often beats skill in MMA, and Rich has cardio for days. Is this a 3 or 5 round fight? Makes a big difference in this one… Log in to Reply Doyle Brunson October 16, 2012 Franklin will win this fight Log in to Reply dude October 17, 2012 You forgot to mention Jose Aldo. It’s been proven that a good kicker beats a good boxer. Log in to Reply marvelous mad madam mim October 17, 2012 ace is bonkers. I do recall cung le had badass takedowns, slams and throws in that sanshou league. cung was more dangerous back then, dont really know why he stopped. all he does now is kick and that requires lots of cardio. Log in to Reply Muay Thai #1 October 17, 2012 @ marvelous mad madam mim Le had good takedowns in sanshou but those guys werent the best at takedown defense. Log in to Reply marvelous mad madam mim October 17, 2012 @Muay best defense or not my friend cung was still explosive with those takedowns. lol go to youtube and search cung le takedown of the week he does a whole series on it hahahahaha Log in to Reply Tkdko October 17, 2012 as a tkd 3rd dan I agree with @failsonnen,ive heard for years hpw taekwondos “fancy” kicks would never work in mma just too flashy.but we seen front kicks, spinning wheel kicks and back kicks, jumping switch kicks all land devastating when thrown by good kickers..but a good wrestler would smash me of they get bu y my kicks lol Log in to Reply Drew October 17, 2012 @dude It’s been proven that a good kicker beats a good boxer? Do you have any examples? I think it’s been proven that a good KICKBOXER beats a good boxer 9 times out of 10, but kicking alone (such as tae kwon do) is not effective enough on its own.
