Very cool video. I’m really impressed how smooth and sharp Rener’s technique is. Being able to do transitions, sweeps, and even finish a submission with no hands to a purple belt its truly impressive. I hope one day I can get half as good as he is.

Let’s see Nick Diaz try something like this, and while he’s at it let’s see him get the courage to step on a plane to stare GSP eye to eye, or stay off dope for a day LOL. (cue the crybabies who are still peeing themselves over the Condit loss).

this student is really a purple belt? come on…

Don’t get me wrong here… I love the sport and respect the Gracie’s, but there is no way that guy is a purple. He can’t pass the guard (Period) I haven’t seen a solid attempt at a technical pass which is what you have to learn before getting your blue. No attempts at continuous transitions into a choke and no attempt at a north south choke.

Lando Says, in 6-26-2012 at 13:41:29 from

This could also be a case of the student being psychologically defeated by his instructor, just like in any aikido demonstration you see of the pressure-point knockouts of George Dillman. They believe they will be beaten and subconsciously (or consciously) submit.

*or the pressure-point knockouts…

mystiso Says, in 6-26-2012 at 14:27:55 from

so, the disadvantage is no use of arm, but you can’t get arm locked. so all you need to defend is are chokes…..

glassjoe Says, in 6-26-2012 at 14:49:37 from

Interesting but I have to agree that this purple belt isn’t much of a purple belt………………
Or he was already defeated before he decided to roll with Gracie.

Redbelt was awesome!

Lando I dont know if you know this but George Dillman is a fraud. I studied under Grand Master Seiyu Oyata taught senior student Kyoshi Albert Geraldi in Ryukyu Kempo. Dillman would come to demonstrations that Oyata would give. He learned enough of pressure point technique and then began to call himself a Master in it. Just saying.

I think the student was a purple belt, he was just light rolling, you could see it because when he would get an opportunity to go for a submission he would let go and go for another position.

Karate4yuASS Says, in 6-26-2012 at 22:07:36 from

No guys hes not a purple belt…hes a homeless guy they found…they just want to impress you internet wankers cos they really value ur opinions.

jadda Says, in 6-27-2012 at 00:08:09 from

It’s a guard excercide where the purplebelt is not supposed to go hard. He gives up position and let’s the guardplayer succseed so that it becomes technical training not competition. Is it really so hard to see? Never trained like this yourself?

Grape Soda Says, in 6-27-2012 at 01:55:39 from

That’s it I quit!

gcbies Says, in 6-27-2012 at 14:22:12 from

No one here trains but their p**** fingers bro. Talking s*** from behind their tucked away computers. Like Jadda said, it’s an exercise for practice to get better!! I didn’t see Herb Dean starting them off…come on, enjoy it for what it is.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 6-27-2012 at 16:48:57 from

If you did a little bit of research before talking about something, you would look alot smarter.Marijuana stays in your body for 30 days.So saying Diaz can’t “stay off the dope for a day” just makes you look dumber. How many times have you used coffee, smoked a cigarette or used any prescription medicine??All these things are more addcitive then weed so are you a dope fiend for using that??

D.B.S.HOMIE Says, in 6-27-2012 at 17:12:23 from

@ fedorfailsagain this has nothing to do with diaz lil bitch you are the one not over condit being your twin bitch runner

Robert Says, in 6-27-2012 at 17:29:50 from

Bullshit. Could’ve gone for chokes so easily.

mmafan400 Says, in 6-27-2012 at 19:19:36 from

you guys don’t know when he got his purple, I believe he’s legit. whoever mentioned psychological effects, I would agree with that, but you all very underestimate the skill and athleticism of rener. I mean watch how perfect his timing is with every transition, and the guy’s really athletic. I’m not saying the guy’s a competitive purple belt, but I doubt he isn’t legit. (and anyone who knows anything about martial arts knows that high belts like a very skilled black make lower ones look stupid)
