Babalu announced Saturday at the “Strikeforce at the Playboy Mansion” show in Beverly Hills, Calif. that he had signed a contract to fight for Strikeforce. Last August the Nevada State Athletic Commission voted to withhold $25,000, the equivalent of Sobral’s UFC 74 winners bonus. The NSAC later voted to uphold the fine but did not impose any suspension on Sobral. |
Sobral dominated most of his fight with Heath during the Aug. 25 fight, Sobral secured an anaconda choke in the second round of his UFC 74 fight. However, after Heath tapped, Sobral would not immediately release his hold, even with referee Steve Mazzagatti pulling on his arm. Two or three seconds went by before Sobral finally broke his hold. Sobral later told the crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center that he wanted to “teach Heath a lesson” for talking junk to him during the previous day’s weigh-ins.
No terms of the contract were announced nor any fight dates for Sobral.
