I am so proud of Rashad. He’s really come a long way since his loss to Lyoto. Outclassing and DOMINATING 2 Top 10 LHW fighters in Thiago Silva and Rampage Jackson. I cheered and rooted for him for that whole fight even tho I was so god damn nervous in the back of my mind knowing that if Rampage catches him with one of those hooks that it’s lights out. WAR RASHAD! Also a HUGE fan of Shogun Rua too since his PRIDE days (Him KO’ing Machida the marathon runner was one of the best days in MMA History).

I almost don’t want Rashad vs. Shogun for the LHW Championship to happen since they’re both fan favs of mine but damn that’s gonna be an amazing fight.

Shogun Rua will most likely win by submission or TKO in the later rounds tho.

P.S. Brilz got robbed.

Dear Rampage,

It’s called MMA, not boxing with takedown defense. Please change your mindset and training accordingly if you ever want to be a serious contender again.

BoxaH Says, in 5-30-2010 at 02:59:07 from

As I predicted, Evans resorting back to his wrestling to eek out a decision… Smart, but a lackluster nonetheless. I was going for my man Rampage, but he was a little tense as well. Who knows, Rashad may have what it takes to beat Shog….Are you f****** kidding me? WAR SHOGUN! KO via 2nd Round against Evans. Let’s see if I’m right again. WAR RAMPAGE even after tonight still.

Worst ultra mega hyped fight I´ve ever seen in my life! So much hyped, so much grudge, so much publicity and so f****** boring! Even thought Rashad is a chicken an is a stalemate machine, he went in there with a game plan, focused, and executed it to controlled almost every minute of the fight. Even though he is a boring ass f****** fighter, the only one to blame here is Rampage. Trying to catch someone with a puncher´s luck ain´t fighting. He needs to go back and rethink this loss for real.

What a boring ass fight, hate Rashad´s style, but he went to do what he train for.

When he’s wobbly you rush him. Same with Jason Brylls….he let Little Nog recover…but lost to the judges.

Raamthunder Says, in 5-30-2010 at 03:48:59 from

Yay just won $500 of abunch of chumps, Rampage is a great fighter but he just can’t handle the speed of him. Its a good thing rampage hasn’t had to fight lyoto or shogun in the UFC cause they are just as fast if not faster.

Invectrum Says, in 5-30-2010 at 03:51:52 from

Lets not forget Rampage did have a long layoff but Rashad did what he had to. I had hoped they would actually have fought more but the sport is quickly becoming like boxing where the fighters dont care bout honor and glory and rather have a good record so they can make money. O well I cant hate themfor being smart can I? F*** that of course I can. UFC I dont pay money to watch athletes be smart I want war. My money is as good as the next mans. And dont give me that this is mma s***. I dont mind mma just as long as they try to actually finish the fight

skullmaster Says, in 5-30-2010 at 04:10:37 from

im not surprised that dancing fairy rashad won, but what is up with all these top guys nowadays that dont really go in to fight but instead put on some kind of weird strategic performance, using the time and rules to fight a “smart” fight. I say F*** that! dont u miss the old school fighters that went in there to kill eachother ala Page, Chuck, Wand and basically all the Pride guys etc?
Now we get this GSP, Machida, Edgar, Rashad flurry/takedown, evade stall and win on points bullshit. Maybe refs chould take points away for too much evasive fighting because it is frustrating to watch. The rule could be that they cant go more than a minute without striking or grappling or someone gets a warning.

The Shini Says, in 5-30-2010 at 04:54:13 from

I must say I was extremely disappointed with Rampage’s performance. He had Evans late in the 3rd, however gassed out badly. Rashad is a very good fighter with a somewhat suspect chin. However I believe Shogun will beat him, but wouldn’t be surprised if Evans get a decision victory. P.S. As a Rampage fan, I must say he has become a very one – dimensional fighter and lacks the commitment to enhance other MMA skills. Frustrated and disappointed fan.

So stop talking cheap about him, becouse he is on top of the game right now.

PitFighterZ Says, in 5-30-2010 at 08:57:19 from

What I saw in this fight that I didn’t see anyone mentioning anywhere is how Rashad was stronger than Rampage. Everyone, including myself, was talking about how faster he was, but he manhandled Rampage in the clinch. If Rampage put Rashad’s back against that fence for the same time, the judges would have seen a different fight. Rampage was physically and technically outclassed.

siliconweb Says, in 5-30-2010 at 09:00:59 from

They need to bring the same intensity to the cage as when they practice. I saw a lot of hesitation and not enough strikes. Rashad had opportunities to knee Rampage to the body when he was trying to get up but didn’t. Not enough kicks, maybe they should watch a Urijah fight to learn how to make the most of all opportunities as they come.

Rampage couldn’t handle his speed. Yeah given rampage did land some heavy blows but that was his only offence the whole fight. and not to mention the first few seconds Rampage got rocked so Evans sorta had this one in the bag since the start

Rampage was way out of cardio and what a f@ck was he thinking letting Rashad recover,i see Rampage just have lost the ambition for the win and his fighting instinct,i remenber when Rampage was a hungry fighter always looking for the knockout wining or loosing like a man.
he need to regain his fighting spirit or hang up the gloves, there is no shame in retirement.

Rashad did what he hast to, use the rules on his favore, i think mma in the US need knees on the ground, they also need some tipe of incentive or penalty to keep the fight going.

when zuffa take the UFC they were in need of fighters so the UFC make the rules in favor of the wrestlers knowing wrestling is a popular activity here on the US that is why they get alot of lame hugers, i got nothing againts wrestling. wrestling is essential on mma but it just has become cheap.

To all the Rampage “nuthuggers” out there already predicting a Rua “massacre” of Rashad, Huh?? WTF that have anything to do with last nights fight? From what I watched Rashad was quicker, stronger and executed a far superior gameplan. Rampage was all bark and no bite! In fact I have serious doubts if he could beat any of the top 10 guys if what we saw last night was the best he’s got left! Rashad will need a better gameplan against Rua, but he still has a better chance of being the new champion than Rampage!

TJ626 Says, in 5-30-2010 at 17:26:01 from

WOW, you all cry like f****** babies… Good fight by Rashad, he came into a MMA fight and fought a MMA game. I wish Rashad would’ve threw a few leg kicks in there as well. Rampage is just a tank with massive knock out power and good take down defence, but you can’t win every fight like that. Shogun vs. Rashad, I believe shogun will definitely take this one. He will have the same speed, but with a lot of power. Shogun will also bring the clinch game, knees, kicks, and might even hold down Rashad with some wrestling. Can’t wait. If Shogun beats Rashad, we might see Anderson Silva fight Shogun around that time. The only person I can think of to fight Shogun is Jon Jones, but Dana will let him work his way up slowly, although I want to see him fight top fighters now.

silverdragon Says, in 5-30-2010 at 18:16:17 from

I’m guessing that Rampage expected Rashad to stand and trade punches with him. I don’t think Rampage was prepared for Rashad’s takedown game.
What puzzles me is how did Rampage let Rashad recover? He had him beat in the 3rd round. All he needed to do was pass his guard and try to mount to control the rest of the round that way. He must have been really tired. I guess he realized that he lost the last 2 rounds so the hell with it, IDK.
I don’t know much about Shogun, but if he can almost beat Machida and then beat him decisively the second time then I don’t like Rashad’s chances.

snoop Says, in 5-30-2010 at 18:56:40 from

I for one like smart fights, IMO it’s about winning, not bar brawling. Since gracie showed up way back in the day, he proved being smarter and more tactical wins fights against brawlers, 8-9 times out of 10. Rampage’s gameplan of catdhing rashad was not a great gameplan. Close to being effective in the third (as it may have been) it was still not a gameplan to ensure yourself a win. There’ll be a rematch for sure, then well probably do best out of 3 hahaha.

marquito76r Says, in 5-30-2010 at 20:19:48 from

How can you guys say that Rashad fought a good fight? Rashad was scared the whole fight! He was running back and holding Rampage against the fence the whole time. Sure he threw a few punches here and there and a few take downs but did nothing to finish a guy who was slow, out of shape, was not on the offense at all and was hurt in the first round. If he was not able to finsih Rampage in this fight, what makes you think he is going to be able to beat Shogun! NO WAY!

lolcopter Says, in 5-31-2010 at 05:01:53 from

Eh. Anyone who heard on primetime that rampage dropped 30 pounds to get in shape for the fight should have realized his cardio wasnt going to be there in the fight. You cant cut 30 pounds to make weight for a fight while saying you in the best shape you been in, that just isnt true. He shouldnt have taken the fight in the condition he was in. And for all those saying it was a good mma fight.. it was a wrestling match. I will need to re-watch the fight just to see how many minutes rashad had page in the clinch doing nothing/ as well as take down into full guard with no passing whatsoever

sephy – looks like rashad exposed rampages glass jaw cause rashad barely caught him and had him doing the chicken dance. “HE’S DEAD” lmao. also laughed at quintons “i put all my eggs in that basket”

ufc_are_mobsters Says, in 5-31-2010 at 06:45:17 from

Rashad didn’t come to fight, he came to be a stats whore. Period, the judging rules have to be fully changed, because truely, that was a tie, no one, even had a scratch on them, if anything, rashad’s nose was bleeding after the third.

Sambokae Says, in 5-31-2010 at 07:04:52 from

Rashad going to lose in 5th round !

rza808 Says, in 5-31-2010 at 10:03:13 from

All I am going to say is it is called a fight. Not a game or match. We need yellow cards to promote action or something cuz this control wrestling is getting out of hand. UFC is all about money these days. Many of the “fighters” are just athletes looking for a paycheck. I am not asking for a slugfest but wrestling with the intent to finish the fight whether by ground and pound or sub. I pay good money sometimes to watch the UFC. I am not happy with their current product and I am voicing my opinion. This is how change is made people. And I want change or I will stop paying my money its that simple

Machete Says, in 5-31-2010 at 10:09:36 from

Z z z!!! I knew this crap would happen. All the sh!t talking and it goes to a decision. Thanks Rashad for hugging Rampage on the fence and fighting a safe fight. The Ufc really needs to put in yellow cards. These blanket fighters are sucking the air out of mma.

Sephy Says, in 5-31-2010 at 12:33:04 from

Agree 100% with the yellow card rule. If they do that tho Rashad will be knocked out every fight lol.. I don’t mind wrestling or a good ground match, but when you have fighters like Rashad who hug you for 3 rounds it’s a bit ridiculous. People fight today not to lose instead of fighting to win.. That’s why fighters like Wandy are awesome, they say F*** it, let’s entertain the crowd and see what happens..

Gryle Says, in 5-31-2010 at 13:08:49 from

It’s not that the UFC is gone to wrestling, it’s that Greg Jackson’s camp has gone to wrestling. Rashad and GSP are using wrestling to win stats, not finish fights. That is there strategy and, even though it is boring to watch, it works. Therefore, hate on Greg Jackson’s camp – then hope the rules change to prevent this “wrestle for points” stuff to die.

Arod Says, in 5-31-2010 at 15:50:45 from

i like both fighters but for those how say rashad was boring it takes to to make a fight not just one if a guy is running chase him down rampage could have gone out and tried to take his head off but he didnt rashad could have stood toe to toe but he know he is gonna get ko’d so he plan worked then he god soem GnP in to cement the win

Throne Says, in 6-1-2010 at 00:44:23 from

Ok, yeah, wrestling is the new BJJ….and yes, I find it quite boring.

mmax Says, in 6-1-2010 at 13:45:10 from

I was watching it on tv and just as they’re announcing the main card, I had a blackout! Whole block went pitch black for an hour. So yes, I waited my ass up 2 hours and some for you to post the fight on mmatko! I had enough faith in you that you’d have it up super fast, and homie, you deliver yet again. Honestly, after the fighters, you’re the person I appreciate most in MMA…..

Bruno: Thanks. That means a lot.

mmax Says, in 6-1-2010 at 13:48:10 from

And to all you crybabies, if you don’t want to see fighters do MIXED martial arts, then either watch boxing or kickboxing or petition the UFC to give fighters bonus pay for strikes or something (yes, that’s sarcastic). After all, it’s mma, you can’t complain about a wrestler wrestling. What would you do?? Lose the fight because you decided to fight another fighter’s artform?? Rashad was smart, strong as hell, fast, he looked awesome. And I was rooting for Rampage, but give credit where it’s due. Rampage let him go in the 3rd round when he clearly saw he had trembling legs…… that’s on Rampage, if you want to criticize a fighter, criticize Rampage….. don’t blame Evans for fighting intelligently….

mmax Says, in 6-1-2010 at 14:20:29 from

Although I will admit that instead of cards (why penalize someone you hired as a wrestler for wrestling) but what about a 1 minute time limit for any one position unless the ref can see clear evidence of a submission or striking set up (as in exactly after 1 minute, he’s now posturing up to strike, you’d let him strike, but if it’s just rabbit punches, you’d call it immediately and stand them up) in present action? I can see that there’s disappointment in the way it is, but I don’t think blaming wrestlers for dominating fights is the answer. Maybe only allowing positional domination for so long without an immediate, present threat of stoppage or submission?

beerman1096 Says, in 6-3-2010 at 14:12:11 from

Sephy could’t have put any better. WAR WANDY!!!!! This is a fight gentlemen! If a wrestler wants to wrestle and not fight, then there’s the WWF and other wrestling organizations he can join. This is the UFC ” Can you say FIGHT?”

rich Says, in 6-6-2010 at 19:50:12 from

good win rashad. to the rampage fans. i mean if he couldnt beat rashad and rashad is “such a p****” then he definitely had no chance against the champ. right? so get over it. second. a game plan exicuted perfectly is what makes a champ. he had one that worked perfectly on rampage so im pretty sure he’ll have a good one for a real competator. and that fight was just sad. glass jaw? rashad barely touched rampage enough to check his temperature and jackson was nearly asleep. it was rashad all day. caught him early, slams and control against the fence all fight, and dont forget even after he got caught in teh 3rd the fight still ended with him pounding rampage from a dominant position. you guys are just mad that you got served.

punishment Says, in 6-18-2010 at 05:07:17 from

thaddiusluster Says, in 6-24-2010 at 22:14:00 from

how the F*** does a professional like Rampage miss that GnP on Rashad’s lifeless corpse? observe the slow-mo gif on that crap; Rampage purposely missed those punches! there is NO other explanation.

ufc is a reality show charade!

sad day for MMA when PrideFC got bought out by ufc!
