This sux, I don’t understand how a guy loses a fight and then beats a guy who wasn’t really a contender in the HW division and then gets a title shot. it pisses me off how some guys have to win 10 straight fights just to get a #1 contender fight. And this overgrown caveman gets a title shot from winnin ONE fight against a person who hasn’t fought in over a year.

I love Randy but I knew he would lose. Brock is improing alot, though I saw alot of weaknesses.

Randy was amazing, but was giving up too much weight against a fellow champion wrestler. It should be noted that Brock had just started bleeding and I think Couture was about to make a move.

Randy took down Tim Sylvia who is Taller AND heavier so many times. Randy took down Gonzaga, Chuck Liddel, and even Tito Ortiz in his prime.

You notice how Lesnar took Randy down when Tito couldn’t get a single takedown against Randy?

I don’t understand why so many people hate on Brock so much just cause he was a wrestler. The man is a NCAA heavyweight champ. He has some serious wrestling skills. He did what he did for the money. I would have done the same thing. People call him the Kimbo of the UFC. There not even close to being in the same ball park. Kimbo fought nothing but washed up nobodies. At least Brock fought good fighters. People need to give Brock more props then he gets. He dominated Randy. He completely won the first round. It was’nt even a close decision in the first. Brock is gonna be around for a long time and be a dominate force in the UFC and is only gonna get better with time.

What is it with some of these refs shouting “Let’s get it on! Come on!” at the beginning of each round? So unprofessional and unnecessary. Makes it look cheap when the referee is like that. Just say : “Fight!”

Lots of Brock haters posting here .. (along with most of the crowd in the bar I saw the fight at..). Or should I say pro wrestling haters?

Anyway, I agree with the more recent posts: give Brock some props, he DID dominate the first round. And from the tv in the bar, the replay angles were quite poor, but it looked like Brock caught Randy on the upper part of the head, to the side (possible the temple). Of course Brock’s fist is so huge it prolly did hit the temple. And it was a solid hit, as you could see Randy’s head clearly move to the side from the impact.

I AM surprised that Randy did as well as he did, as he seemed to have fatigued Brock quite a bit just by clinching with him against the fence (as he often does to opponents..). Brock threw a punch in the 2nd that seemed pretty sluggish..And of course with all that muscle, you need that much more energy. But still, judging by Brock’s workouts, I thought he would have the stamina of a larger Sherk. Again, I’m sure all that muscle mass plays a large part…And the clinch from Randy.

Oh and all you Nogeira nuthuggers..He’ll have to take Brock down, or get into guard and capitalize on a sloppy Brock (like Mir did) which I would expect he WON’T be any longer in preps for that fight, in order to submit him. Good luck with that! Of course the main concern I would have with Brock is his cardio for a full 5 rounds.

You all want to suck off Randy Couture so bad you are ignoring the fact that Lesnar just beat his ass. It’s going to be great watching other guys take him on… especially Nog and Fedor. The HW division is going to have some great fights going forward.

Alot of Brock haters on here tonight. The suggestions that Lesnar was barely passable in this match are patently false. He showed some an amazing reversal in round 1, almost attained mount at one point, showing he is working on improving his positions. He matched Randy in his Greco Roman wrestling, and smartly paced himself for a 5 round match.
Randy was great as expected, but Lesnar’s power and size in this case were impossible for him to counter. In the 2nd it took all his power just to hold Lesnar against the cage, and he launched almost no offense in that position.
As for striking, Lesnar was amazingly improved. He also took 2 hard punches from Randy and was pretty much unfazed, except for the cut above his eye.
Randy did all he had to to prove he is among the top heavyweight fighters, but Lesnar is the next BIG thing.
Give credit where credit is due.

I don’t understand all this hate towards Lesnar. If he had no skill, how did he take down Couture and even reverse a take down into a take down on Couture. Both rounds we’re really equal, the 2nd more so. They matched each others moves perfectly. Brock did get lucky, but then I’d be saying the same about Couture.

Personally I’d like to see most of the people in here have a match with Lesnar, granted you won’t be getting up for awhile.

Lesnar is the real deal. If having him as champ means winning over more WWE fans, that means more revenue and potentialy higher fighter salaries, which is desperately needed.

Brock is no chump, yes he is a former pro wrestller but any number of serious MMA fighters have also done pro wrestling. That though is not his base, you have to remember he is a world class amateur wrestler.

As for beating Couture, yes Randy is no longer in his prime but he is still one of the best in the world. For Lesnar to beat him in his 4th ever MMA match is phenomenal. Lesnar probably would lose to Nog, and would certainly lose to Fedor but there is no doubt that he has and is improving.

That said though I doubt that Dana White is not going to scarifice his new star any time soon, and other than those two its too see who out there will beat him.

Yeah, Lesnar was in the WWE, but his real background is as a world class grappler.
Couture faced a former WWE wrestler back in 1997 named Tony Halme who was also monstrous & Couture easily beat him. He took Halme down, & went right for a rnc & ended the fight. He could not get Lesnar on the ground & it was obvious his gameplan was to lay on Lesnar to wear him down.
For the people who don’t know why Randy went down, it was really the delayed effect from that knee that Lesnar hit him with. That was the shot that stunned him. The other shots just sealed the deal.
