Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera Fight Video UFC 105

Another robbery! I was shocked. I had Vera clearly winning the last two rounds. I still don’t understand the judging criteria. So Randy clinches him to a stalemate. When they separate, Vera damages him with hard kicks, and then gets a takedown and a mount. What did Randy do of any significance? The judging system is seriously flawed.

Kind of a boring fight. just amazing that Corture can compete at such a high level at 46 years old. I thought Vera won…i hate decisions.

I would say Vera for the two kicks and the mount but Randy rocked him three times with hands and backed him up at the very end so I just don’t see the problem. It was a close fight that could have gone either way but Vera was the one always backing away when they started trading.

Close fight to call. Vera should’ve known you can’t go to a decision with someone who’s very popular like Randy. Vera should’ve had a better answer for all that clinching by Randy. Randy clearly didn’t want to strike with Vera and just s-n-p(stand[lay] and pray). Overall boring ass fight to watch. This fight to me didn’t do anything to impact the 205 pound division.

i wouldn’t say holding someone for 3 rounds was pointless. Brandon was tired as hell from Randy “holding” him. If Vera wasnt tired he woulda finished it in da 2nd after dat knee dropped randy. But… It was a good chess match

Couture dominated the entire fight. I agree with subidoo and mma fan- he out muscled, out boxed, and outsmarted brandon. Kuddos to Brandon, sure. Quite a few nice kicks, a few good punches. But on that note- Randy landed many better combos. And, any time Brandon tried to get him on the fence, Randy imposed his will and turned it around.
Also.
Allow me to highlight an interesting contrast. Randy praised several of Brandon’s body hits and called him one hell of a fighter; no thanks or notes of appreciation from Brandon. I call that bad sportsmanship.
And to all of you– Do you all simply want blood? A “chess match” is way more difficult to pull off than a blood bath, and takes not just muscle but brain. I think this fight was an excellent combination of both.

The only good Couture did in this fight was his recovery from mount. As to Vera, I don’t know why exactly he has got so upset — he left it up to judges, he got what he was asking for — a decision!
UFC needs to give referee right to punish fighters purses for 5 to 10% for passivity. Just like they did in Pride.

I haven’t seen the 1st round yet but saw that last two live. Randy must have had a hell of a 1st round.

First off england sucks. Second of all ufc gets worse with each promotion they put on but when they go to england we have to see the shittiest fighters like bisping.

Everyone keeps complaining that it was a boring fight. Seriously, what did you expect? That went exactly as I expected. The judges do suck, I would’ve gave it to Vera.

At least the rest of the matches were good.

Yeah, not sure what fight some people were watching, but some folks need glasses. Randy spent 3:30 wearing Vera’s ass out. He won the stand up, he won the clinch. Yeah Vera got the take down where he did basically no damage and couldn’t hold him down. They traded pretty good after that, but never did Vera hurt Randy.

whereas Vera was definitely hurt when he got pressed into the cage early in the round where he had ZERO offense. Randy won that 3rd round handily. And seeing as it was easy to give Randy the first because he controlled the pace. I think Brandon clearly won the 2nd. Randy the 3rd.

2-1 Couture. Plain as day.

At best this was a draw, depending how you view winning…there was no clear winner.

That’s the fight I watched…holding doesn’t deserve wins and Couture was clearly hurt in the second round.

Randy clearly won that. Hell, I was screaming at my screen towards the end of round 3 for
Vera to do something cuz it was clear to me that he was losing points-wise. Randy controlled him with the Greco in the first, pretty much lost the second, but outstriked (how in the f*ck I have no idea- I blame Vera’s lame ass) Vera in the 3rd, pressing forward and escaping Brandon’s little takedown. Obviously, I was going for Brandon, but he honestly dropped the ball in this one. I was expecting to see that bad-ass Vera we’ve all been hyped on for so long, but ONCE AGAIN,
he fails to arrive. And I hope that unlike alot of you Vera’s blaming himself. He should have finished the fight, and he had ample opportunity to do so. But, as was apparent in the Krystof fight, Brandon’s trigger is off. That boy just can’t seem to jump on his prey when they’re wounded. His problem is not physical, it’s mental. He needs to go somewhere and find that killer instinct . . . or get out of fighting, cuz he’ll never make champ, in either weight-class, pussy-footing around some dudes who LIVE to put a hurting on people.

I don’t think it was a boring match (due to the stuff Matamoros posted). It’s just another skillset than striking or grappling on the ground, still interesting to watch and quite intense.

Think it was a close fight but nowhere near the Rua-Machida Robbery. Since this was not a Robbery.

I like how Randy acted after the fight, because he basically said that it’s just totally up to the judges. If they had looked out for different things, Brandon might have won. He’s a class act, Machida’s not.

This was complete BS! Fak the UFC for an event like this…next BS fight Ortiz vs Griffin coming up. The Strikeforce event was better! Period. Randy is a legend but it’s not ok giving him the win for this fight! So frustrating to watch…

we should keep in mind that this was not a pay per view. whether these two can beat fedor or not, you must not forget that they are clearly 2nd or possibly third tier ufc heavy weights. they would be pitted against fedor where he is because they would be 1st tier heavyweights there. that’s the company he’s looking for.
this was a tough decision, but that is often what you get when you leave it to three subjective opinions. deal.
this was just another promotional ufc tour across the pond. you know when it’s going over there you’re not going to see a top fight card, so (while i’m not white’s number one fan) i’ll give him credit for leaving it free on cable tv. barring injuries he usually delivers when you gotta pay. that’s all you can ask because nobody is going to be 100%.

it wasnt a pretty fight – but really, at what point would you say Vera was winning? Maybe the second round – but other than that yes Randy did pin him against the cage for 2 rounds. I would file that under “octagon control” Vera couldn’t do anything and it was because of Randy’s actions. Those Vera kicks were sweet, but really you want to give someone a win cuz he kicked a guy a few times. Randy 2rds to 1 – it wasnt flashy, but it was a smart game plan, executed effectively. “Not bad for an old man”

Getting pretty pissed of by this bad judgements. Was hoping for Couture, but he didn´t bring aything but the octagon-control to that fight. It´s not even funny to watch, when you have that feeling that Couture gonna get the discision despite he really lost that fight.

kyalan to be fair only shan had posted their comment before you posted and I responded, so if that’s only three comments (one at the time) out of 79 then why does it all the sudden become “you Americans” like everybody was saying it?

I was only using Bisping as an example, back when he was about to face Hendo at UFC 100 all the Brits would say the Americans only hated him because he was British when they would insult him even though in no way did they bring up that he was British but rather they hated him for his attitude.

A more fair decision would have been 2 rounds to 1 for Randy. Unanimous? No way.

unanimous means all three judges choose the same winner, regardless of how they score the individual rounds…

round scoring and unanimous decisions are different…one is for rounds, one is for winner of the fight.

all three judges felt randy won the fight, not all the rounds…they did favor couture (2) vs vera (1)

After watching that a 2nd time. Coutre had the first and 3rd round. It was still very close I wouldn’t of been surprised if Vera won.

I’m watching it again. It is still VERY clear that Couture won. It’s close, but there’s no doubt in my mind. I’m still shocked that people think Vera won.

Couture out smarted, out muscled, and out moved Vera. Vera did not look impressive as usual.

I was very impressed with Couture.

I am a Randy Couture fan but it was ridicolousy if the judges desn´t change their criteria UFC i will not pay to watch UFC anymore…

To hell with muy thai, bjj, and wrestling as skill sets for MMA. I’m opening up a new school dedicated to learning how to pin people against the fence. I’m sure with the current scoring system I can churn up a few world champs. Any takers? Seriously, I’m really scared for MMA. This might set a precedence on how to win fights.

I will say I probably should have used language that was perhaps less vague, but I said exactly (because I’m copying and pasting here) “all the Brits would say the Americans only hated him because he was British.”

First off I in no way said all brits were rooting for him, secondly I didn’t mean literally all British people or even all British people that post on here I was referring soley to the Brits supporting Bisping and using that as an excuss. But again I admit my language might have been a little too broad.

Much love for you Brandon but you were just a victim of a Couture contract negotiation you have to finish him. Next time circle and when you switch your stance watch Randy’s movement and quickly switch back for a quick kick to the body. Big shout out to Eric!!!
