About the marijuana..

It seems like people always fail to mention the health risks if vaporized, dranken, or aten..

Would marijuana cut your "Edge" if you made tea from it?

You can show all the facts u want but i dont care, do what works for you. studys showed that marijuana has many medical and benficial purposes wich led to propistion 215. i have my medical marijuna licensce so im not doing anything ILLEGAL as u say. i refuse to touch any type of pharmacutical or perscription pills like vicodin any of em. i prefer to only put natural and more organic things in my body. im my opinion all those prescription pills made in some lab and alcohol are much worse than marijuana. the bible said god created all seed and fruit baring plants for us to enjoy. i never said it was good for you or you should go do it, do whatever you want, do whats best for you. all i said was alot of people smoke in mma, thats it. in a sherdog interview nick diaz admits 90 percent of the ceaser gracie fighters and camp smoke weed.

Even infrequent abuse can cause burning and stinging of the mouth and throat, often accompanied by a heavy cough. Someone who smokes marijuana regularly may have many of the same respiratory problems that tobacco smokers do, such as daily cough and phlegm production, more frequent acute chest illness, a heightened risk of lung infections, and a greater tendency to obstructed airways9. Smoking marijuana possibly increases the likelihood of developing cancer of the head or neck. A study comparing 173 cancer patients and 176 healthy individuals produced evidence that marijuana smoking doubled or tripled the risk of these cancers10.

Marijuana abuse also has the potential to promote cancer of the lungs and other parts of the respiratory tract because it contains irritants and carcinogens9,11. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke12. It also induces high levels of an enzyme that converts certain hydrocarbons into their carcinogenic form—levels that may accelerate the changes that ultimately produce malignant cells13. Marijuana users usually inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than tobacco smokers do, which increases the lungs' exposure to carcinogenic smoke. These facts suggest that, puff for puff, smoking marijuana may be more harmful to the lungs than smoking tobacco.-NIDA

Okay, so nicotine was the wrong thing. It's actually worse than just nicotine.

And-there has got to be another way to relax besides doing something illegal. There are other (better) ways to do things than doing something illegal. The problem is that once someones addicted, they just about refuse to try anything else.

MJ is my girl too... but if I ever go Pro I would have to give it up. When I train I can feel a difference when I am smoking and when I am not, same with alcohol. The top elite fighters don't do that, and thats what seperates them from the guys that don't quite make it. Nick Diaz may be able to do triatholons, but does he win? He would have a way better chance to win if he didn't smoke. I love weed but sometimes you have to give up things you love to progress. Now... if you don't compete, have at it. In Eddie Bravo's new book he speaks on it and has a pic of him tokin it up.

OWNED! hit it right on the button. fighters now days have very tough and stressful jobs and 90 percent of them have one way of relaxing be it drinking, poppin pain pills, or smoking herb. that being said out of those three choses smoking weed is the least harmful and most natural choice. i dont think mma fans realize how many people smoke weed in mma. and to G "Pot has more nicotine in it than cigarrettes, which causes cancer of the lungs, and all kinds of other lung problems that can make you get winded faster. How could that possibly help a fighter?" marijuana is all naturual and dosent have close to the nictoine or carcinogens that cancer sticks have, and about getting winded fast, look at nick diaz, he smokes weed everyday and runs triatholons, how many mma fighters compete in triatholons? srry but your mis-informed about my girl, mary jane

G writes "Pot has more nicotine in it than cigarrettes", but pot contains no nicotine at all - though obviously if you make a joint with tobacco and pot, then it will contain nicotine because of the tobacco.

G also asks "Why would fighters smoke weed?". Er... to relax, to chill out, to relieve pain etc. Some people like to relax with pot others with alcohol. It would be a shame if drug testing prevented them doing that...

If your serious about fighting you take care of your body... you don't do any drugs... and you just drink on occasions. That's price you suffer to have good enough conditioning to be a champ. That is why guys like Leben, Grove, Sell, etc... wont ever be top contenders until the quit partying. In all this will be good for the sport because guys with a lot of potential wont have the option to party.

Why would fighters smoke weed? That completely stupid, and would impact you in a big way fighting and in the long run. Pot has more nicotine in it than cigarrettes, which causes cancer of the lungs, and all kinds of other lung problems that can make you get winded faster. How could that possibly help a fighter?

I believe that illegal steroid usage should be illegal in any sport, because its illegal in the first place, as with any drugs that are illegal to use/abuse. However, I think test boosters that you can buy at vitamin stores (and online) should be allowed, because they are legal for anyone to use.

Sherk is going to get ate up by BJ anyways, steroids or no steroids =P
