magnifique combat, arona avait bien commencé en stand up
mais quel slam, rampage a bien failli le désarticuler meme si c’est le coup de tete qui a mis ko arona,il l’aurait quand meme terminé!!

This was awesome! Ricardo was able to squeeze in that little upkick to cut Rampage open, but you think he’d have the sense to let go when he fealt “The King of Slam” start to pick him up. His head just bounced off the mat, and he was almost kissing his knees when he hit the ground. That’s Rampage for you.

What a slam by Rampage. I believe it was the head butt that actually knocked him out. It is hard to tell for sure. Arona is one hell of a fighter. I would like to see those 2 fight again.

Big mistake by Arona @ 12:30 when he decided to chat up the ref and completely relax his guard instead of submitting Jackson after the heel kicks. He’ll be regretting that for the rest of his life.

I’d like to say Wanderlei vs. Jackson will be a nice matchup but the sad truth is that Wanderlei takes bigger dumps than Quinton.

arona should’ve gone for a reversal when quinton was hurt instead of pleadin with the ref. its hard for to make a guy look hurt when he’s on top of u.

Mouth guards don’t leave teeth marks. He woulda been KO’d anyway from the slam to the back of the head.

RJ I’ve watched that fight a many times over the past couple years, I think Rampage was briefly out and the fight should have been stopped. However as Jason also stated above, that was a huge mistake by Arona to stop fighting and tell the judge to stop the fight.

Nevertheless, excellent recovery and slam by Rampage.

looked like rampage was out. at first i thought he was just covering/protecting his head, but after arona raised both arms and looked at the ref, rampage didnt move. i dont blame arona for pointing it out, but keep striking while youre doing it. i guess.

Yeah it looked like Quinton was out there for a sec. But he made the best of it. Why the hell didn’t Arona let go? Don’t think the collision of heads was that signifigant. Great clip.

WARNo Gravatar Says, in 3-24-2008 at 21:01:59 from 24.118.199.116

Rampage would destroy any 205 pounder right now since his pride fights he has growin so much, his strike are better then the iceman and on the ground he has held his own with fighter like Hendo and Matt the Law, he is just the best in 205 pound fighter in the world period.

mygif
NivNo Gravatar Says, in 3-24-2008 at 23:46:21 from 209.53.196.207

I’d like to see a healthy Shogun with a couple warm up fights under his belt, then I’d be able to say one way or the other if Rampage is the best 205lb er.

I think Rampage looks no different than when he fought in Pride, the only thing that happened to his weight class was it got older and more beat up. Wandy 2-3 years ago whips anybody out there, now it’s obvious he’s had a few too many wars over the years.

Rampage for now is the man, but my money is still on a healthy Shogun. Let’s face it the rumours were true, Shogun fought Griffin hurt and it showed. Kudo’s to Griffin for doing his job but I don’t think he gets out of the second round with Shogun in top form.

mygif
Sunfish HeroNo Gravatar Says, in 3-25-2008 at 16:38:09 from 75.111.34.153

Rampage can’t handle any clinch man, Wanderlei had his way with twice in the clinch, and Rua did it too. It’s only a matter of time before one of those two ends up in title contention and shuts down Rampage once again. You seriously think he’s the best 205 in the world? Gotta be out of your mind man.

he took the ufc light heavyweight title and then beat the [at that time] pride light heavyweight champion. what more do you want?

you gotta put him at the top until someone knocks him off.

hmmm anderson silva is thinking of moving up to 205 i wonder if ufc would give anderson a title shot at quinton and with andersons thai clinch you think he could dominate quinton?

Sunfish HeroNo Gravatar Says, in 3-26-2008 at 16:44:29 from 75.111.34.153

What more do I want? i want to him to avenge his losses and prove he’s the best. He beat a guy he’s already beaten to be the best? That’s not how it works. A. Silva wouldn’t need to use his clinch, he could easily out strike Jackson. A. Silva is the best striker in the world in my opinion.

Lets face it, Rampage is better now than he was in pride, he moves better and has better striking. I loved Wandy but he was on roids when he smashed Quinton, as were a number of pride fighters. When you see how small Silva looked when he lost to Chuck compared to his massive shoulders and vainy head in pride it is pretty obvious. I think Rampage would hurt Wand now however I dont believe Shogun has shown us his best yet and when healthy getting him and Quinton to go at it again has to be a priority.

NivNo Gravatar Says, in 3-28-2008 at 12:45:09 from 75.155.166.62

Tomek I couldn’t disagree with you more on the Wandy and the roids issue. Wandy’s at the same weight now as when he was allegedly on roids.

He was thick when he fought Lidell and I do not see him as smaller in any way. The fact remains that with every fighter who fights that constant pressure, come forward and brawl style will have a lower shelf life than a more tactical fighter.

Let’s face it Wandy was the best for about a six year stretch and has obviously fought too many wars. Being the warrior that he is means he still has some good fights in him, but I doubt we’ll see the action packed high kick, hard kneeing brawling Axe Murderer again. That has nothing to do with the roids everyone keeps trying to allege.

As for Quinton, personally I’ve seen most of his fights in Pride and all of his fights in the UFC and I can’t see any difference in his game. He’s a great fighter and has been one for many years now. I would have to agree that a fighter of his calibre would only be improving, but there’s only so much one can improve from what he was showing a few years ago.

I agree if he fought Wandy today he’d destroy him, that has more to do with where Wandy’s game is today, not with roids.

I think where Wandy’s concerned he wouldn’t have lost to Dan Henderson early last year if he cancelled the fight and rescheduled it. There must be something about those Chute Boxe guys that don’t know when to say hey I can’t go. Wandy as many people don’t know came out of the hospital with a bad case of strep throat and stepped into the ring to fight Dan the Man. He has never used that as an excuse just as Shogun was still willing to battle Griffin on a bum injured knee which needed surgery.

Either way it doesn’t matter that much, I guess we’re all splitting hairs here when it comes to these guys. All I can really say is I love watching all of these guys fight and can’t wait to see them back in action.
