Yeah Sakuraba is a legend in the sport for a reason. I know none of the hard core UFC guys have a clue who he is, that’s evidenced by references that Pride fighters like Wanderlei never fought anyone.
Fighters like Sakuraba and Quinton are what helped make Pride so great. I loved watching these guys fight.

Jamie O, actually I’m aware of his losses to Vitor and Tito early on. Both of those fights were unfortunate for Wandy, but I think the Vitor fight was a bogus stoppage.
I’ve watched it many times and he was caught coming in and Vitor poured it on, but most of his punches were missing and the ref stopped it while I think Wandy was still OK. Tito beat him fair and square, but after that fight he obviously adjusted his handling of grapplers well, three crushing wins over Sakuraba as a point.
My comment was directed at the usual suspects who keep stating Wandy fought no-one, yet his two complete demolitions of Quinton, and three wins over Sakuraba carry no weight.

It would be nice to see a rematch between sakuraba and rampage. Considering that was rampage’s first fight in pride and he didn’t really have a full time training team at that time.

Why do people always say stuff like Sakuraba is a loser or he’d lose a fight to fighters he previously won against. Have any of you guys realized the people he loses to are usually a higher weight class than him? If they had to cut weight to make it to 185lbs, Sakuraba would easily win.

I can easily point to Russian fighters who are dominating in all fight sports from MMA to professional boxing and surmise that whites are actually the best fighters. Fedor has never been defeated and he has certainly laid out a few black dudes in the process.

Anthony Johnson - Lost to Rich Clemente and recently beat a non-contender in Tommy Spears. This guy isn’t even in the top 10 of WW. He’s fast. He has power. But, a BBJ guy or a wrestler like Fitch or GSP would finish him quick.
