UFC 107 Fight Gif from the Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo bout.

Yep… that’s what happens when you drop your arm like that.
I think Kongo just didn’t believe Mir had the power to take him out. In any division, that is the stupidest mistake you can ever make. In the HW, that is just suicidal!
Kongo should know better…
Maybe he can try to score a contract with Stikeforce, but I think his career is pretty much done for.
That’s what happens when you punch THROUGH someone.
my french african brother was not at all KO after this punch.the problem is that this punch put him on the floor and everybody knows that it was going on the floor Cheick would lose.It is a clear victory for Mir but for me on a rematch Cheick will show who he is.props to Cheick for being a great fighter. He is the pride of french originary from africa
Almost to easy.
Looks like one of those Sambo/Fedor punches that mmatko.com did a video on a few months back.
Caught with absolutely no guard lol and calls himself “striker”
Mir said he was gonna stand and actually backed up all his shit talkin. I think he needs one more fight and keep liftin before a brock rematch. thats also saying that brock beats carwin which im sure he will.
he tricked congo and made him think that he was going to take him down. Congo had his hands down to defend against the take down and mir head went down but he landed a beautiful overhand left. Nice technique and game plan.
Yep! Looks just like the punch Fedor caught Brett Rogers with! Pure strikers are too stiff and upright, leaving that chin out with a big welcome mat. He rocked dat baby and den put ‘em to sleep! Nitey nite!
he obviously thought Mir was shooting for a single…but still real dumb of him to at least not crouch down and tuck in the chin…
Usually Mir’s punches have a delayed reaction that will put you in the Mayo Clinic.
why is it that every time someone loses people think that said persons fighting career is over?
Kongo thinking take down defense gets surprised by the overhand left.Bad night for him…made “Big Mouth” look great!
Frank Mir really looked outstanding. Frank Mir vs Brock Lesnar 3 would be great. Now the size is the same it will be skill vs skill imo
Frank Mir – “It’s something we’ve been saying the whole training camp. We call it “The Pacquiao,” because Manny Pacquiao will step off as a southpaw and throw the overhand left. As soon as I hit Kongo I went to catch him with the uppercut and I didn’t see him, he was on the ground.”
phantom punch, and also early stoppage
Great game plan for Kongo. Hands down, chin out, then, once you get knocked down, put you head under Mir’s arm.
Mir calls it “The Pacquiao”. props to the pacman!
your french AFRICAN brother got his ass rocked & sent back to france, wandering what the fuck just hit me.. nuff said biatch.. Afican this biatch.. He is french, not a dam thing to do with africa, all the all the so called african brother suck ass in ufc, all they good for is running lmao..
drewington, in the cain valesquez fight, kongo proved that his ground skills, well that he has none. he got mounted at ease like a small child. and then he comes out to fight mir tellin him hes gunna shut his big mouth then gets dominated again in all elements. hes a has been kickboxer thats all. if he wants to fight in the ufc he had better drop to 205 or gtfo
phantom punch, and also early stoppage
Are you out of your mind? He got rocked and choked to sleep. when should they have stopped when he was dead?
kongo will be back.
It’s still not skill v skill in terms of Frank v Brock 3, Mir needs to put on more weight still. Brock cuts close to 20 pounds b4 the weigh in and then rehydrates, Frank said he cut a few lbs for the weigh in, so Brock prolly still has a definite size advantage.
the punch was brutal but the ckoke was deadly no time to tap
Wow.. The Pacquiao Punch indeed..

You’re right.
MMAMessiah, that punch is a clear overhand left. It’s a hard punch to land in boxing but it seems to do very well in mma. It must be due to the multi-faceted aspect of the sport.
That punch was nasty, but the ensuing guillotine/neckcrank was just sadistic. Mir almost snapped kongo’s head off! Brock had better be worried now man Mir’s coming for blood props to Mir he deserves a title shot any day.
Drewington Says, in 12-13-2009 at 15:30:52 from 70.160.133.14 why is it that every time someone loses people think that said persons fighting career is over?
Because Dana White’s a fag. Everytime someone loses 2 or 3 in a row or even sporadically, Dana gives them the boot. He only keeps winners. Look at Chuck Lidell. Dana basically forced him to retire after the Shogun KO. That’s Dana’s stupidity and I effin hate him for it. He’s a horrible person that way. 5 years ago he was kissing fighter’s asses to get into the UFC, and now he gives Henderson the boot to take Belfort in, etc. It just goes on…
Kongo lacks MMA sense.
now we have a couple of fighters in the hw division…..big nog, lessnar, carwin, velasques, mir, dos santos and maybe gonzaga. i want to see them fight….all!!! dos santos vs. gonzaga, mir vs. velasques, lessnar vs. carwin. big nog vs. the winer (lessnar/carwin). maybe big nog vs. carwin before the fight with lessnar, because lessnar needs time to come back.
“phantom punch, and also early stoppage”
AHhAHHAhHAhAH LOL HAHAhHAhAHahHHAHA
lol at the dude that gives props to Kongo. He gets knocked out and you give him props???? Am i missing something? Yes you are a moron… ;0
Yeah, I know Frank is putting on weight – hopefully it won’t slow him down. More importantly, hopefully he getting some good wrestling defense practice as well. Yeah, his striking game has improved greatly and his BJJ is clearly very good. To fight Brock again, it’d be nice to see that speed mixed with size and then some better takedown defense – which sounds weird when you’re talking about Frank, but there it is. If he’s ever going to fight Brock again – he’s gonna have to be ready for that bum-rush.
Brock Lesnar does not cut 20 pounds. Please show me where you have seen or read that (other than the insane ramblings of Dana White). After he fought Randy Couture, he admitted that he weighed himself at 276 the day of the fight. That’s 11 pounds. He at most probably cuts 15. Assuming that Mir now weighs around 267, or 268, that’s only an 8 or 9 pound difference. That’s not too much. The real difference is that Brock still has a bigger reach, he is faster, and he will still be stronger (even if Mir gets up to 276, I think Brock will be stronger), and Brock’s wrestling is so good that it essentially nullifies Mir’s BJJ. The rubber match should be amazing, and I hope Mir wins, but I don’t think he will be able to handle Brock’s power and speed once again.
The GIF needs to start about 5 seconds earlier, so that it shows Mir’s right double jab fake/wind up that has Kongo stepping before the fake shoot and subsequent OOFFFFDAAAaaaaaaaa!
At Sancho.
“phantom punch, and also early stoppage.”
You are stupid for not seeing Herb Dean grab Kongo’s arm, lift it, letting it go, and it dropped. Meaning Kongo was asleep. It was not an early stoppage. Any longer Kongo could have gotten brain damage or something.
Mirs punches are very heavy as he weights more, did you see how far he threw him with the punch holly crap congo was flying in the air like he was 5lb as a result of mir’s punch and I don’t even think Mir throw that punch as hard as he could, but like someone said up there it was a nice technique Mir acted like he is going to shoot for a take down and kongo put his arms down and BAMB!! the left over hand punch to the face. Good game plan indeed
Flash knockdown for sure, he definitely would have gotten up from that. Except Mir didn’t give him a chance.
black for nothing
