No Nas was (like most english fighters) protected until he had to fight abroad and then was exposed. Just like Nigel Benn, Frank Bruno, Chris Eubank etc etc etc.
Naseem Hamed ended his career with a 36-1 record. His only loss was to Barrera who had a 52-3 record a the time.
Hamed had been sick for two weeks before the fight and didn’t finnish his training like he should.

Who did he beat in those 36 victories? Barrera was a very good fighter but not great and he humiliated Hamed. So much so he never fought again.

He was arguably the most exciting boxer of our generation. You obviously have not seen him fight. I implore anyone on this site to watch his fights. He wears his heart on his sleeve and always goes for a KO! And yes I am English but a massive fight fan and know good fighters when I see them be they English, American, Russian etc. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Hi gents just got this website from my son!! I have been a follower of many a fighter ..No1 Julio Cesar Chavez the best there ever was,Manny Paquio, Prnce Nazeem ( although I hated his guts) Chris Eubank (Also not my favourite) but a good fighter non the less Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler.. and the best fight I have ever witnessed- the first fight between Tony Lopez and Jon Jon Molino!!!!! If you had switched your TV on at the 12th round U would`ve thought it was the 1st round!!!! Thats how it started and finished!!! Do u`r self a favour and watch that then U will see what fighting is all about!!!!
HBO gave Hamed a ridiculous amount of money for 6 fights. He lost to Barrera, who is in fact a great fighter in his 6th fight. Hamed had been criticized back then for his hedonistic behavior and his seriousness for boxing. I think that Hamed cashed out after his 6 fight contract and called it a day.

I stand corrected. Nigel Benn was an all time great. How can anyone argue with those creditials.
He briefly held the title twice and both times he held it briefly.
BTW I was watching fights when I was an infant. Although, I watch it casually these days. I did see Nigel Benn fight, many times in fact. I was really curious to see if he could cross the big pond and be as dominant in the states. He was not.

I guess that is a matter of opinion. My problem with him is his inconsistency. Technically he is great, sad thing is he lacks the discipline to be great.

Mr. Barrera I disagree with your promotional comments, involving the reputable boxer Naseem Hamed (NAZ) he is a clever and smart boxer, his retirement was the best decision ever he made in his life. I do not deny that I still love NAZ very much more than any other boxer in the World, he created and added a remarkable and unforgettable style in boxing history from his entry to the end of each match. You under estimated NAZ after you win clearly by points and forgotten your grate losses (Twice) against Many Pacquiao, who dispose you and made you retire/disappear from Boxing scene for a long time. Now only the need for CASH brought you back in to the ring risking your life at this age after loosing your fans and glory! Do you think NAZ will be back in the Ring like you, definitely NO, he made a fortune from his 37 fights and still he own and drives Bentley, Porsche & Mercedes, he has a boxing training school and a lot of properties, business establishments, enough CASH for life, security, Piece of mind and enjoying a luxury life style. This is the meaning of the clever and smart boxer, he do not wish to be on a wheelchair, he did a great future at (28 Years of age) from 37 matches for himself and his family, which you did not yet made after 71 Boxing matches and still you will not make it until you go on a wheelchair. Remember one thing, your late return to the square ring, not for the love of the Sport or entertaining the viewers, but the NEED of Money brought you back in to the Ring. I think you will be very lucky if you stay only (3 ROUNDS) in the square Ring with AMIR KHAN on 14th March, I will consider it as great win for you.
