I really wish that we could have a special “old school” edition UFC for the UFC 100. It could have saku and wandy maybe barnett and what would be really cool is to see bas back in there. Imagine that!

anybody else wish UFC implemented the yellow card system Pride had for fights with no action?

Watching this made me want to see all the Pride fights again.

Pride seemed more raw than UFC. Maybe it’s the way they microphoned the ring, but the punches seemed harder, and it really sounded like two guys really beating eachother up.

UFC is just as violent (sans the soccer kicks), but it just doesn’t feel like a real fight after reliving some Pride moments.

Pride was the epitome of MMA! ufc can’t call itself that with their ridiculous restrictions and limitations and emphasis on hype, deceit, and shows like TUF

I agree with dark angel. He has a very valid point. I dont feel like Im watching a real fight anymore its like a video game or something now days. The problem is that the UFC needs the Pride Ref Cam and the ring mic.

White Gerbil 1, how do you qualify a statement like yours? Let’s see Wanderlei Silva was fed to Chuck Lidell when Wandy was on the worst streak of his career, and I’m sure it was done on purpose in hopes of getting the result they did. But when Lidell fought in Pride back in 2003 he and Wandy were both in their primes and that tournament proved Wandy to be the best 205lb fighter in the world then. Lidell couldn’t make it to the finals to even fight Wandy, and back then I’m sure it would have been an Axe Murder.

Lidell got ko’d by Quinton Jackson in both Pride and UFC. Quinton in my opinion was robbed in the Forrest Griffin decision but no one can say he’s not doing well in the UFC.

Anderson Silva hasn’t lost a fight in the UFC, he’s a former Pride fighter who lost twice in Pride.

Antonio Noguiera is the interim HW Champ in the UFC and I’ll bet you he will submit the WWE Champ.

So in short between Anderson Silva, Antonio Noguiera, Quinton Jackson, Wanderlei Silva, and Dan Henderson who has yet to be beaten by a UFC fighter, who is doing bad? Or maybe the question should be, who’s doing better?

Now if we get a healthy Shogun Rua in the mix, I think this is the year that the UFC will truly see how dominant it’s Pride fighters truly are.

In all honesty I can’t really say who would win but for the dollar “Pride” had the more entertaining fights, UFC was just starting to re-evolve but “Pride” was more entertaining and that’s why the UFC purchased “Pride” and let it die out! Nick Diaz vs Takamori Gomi was a classic, Cro Cop at his prime was invincible. Now for the record the UFC got the “Pride” fighters way after the prime, for example Heath Hearing, back about 5yrs ago Heath would have been hell to beat, remember he took down Kerr. Noguiera in his prime was unstoppable! Enson Inue was vicious and Rampage was exact(just ask Chuck) for my money the more enteraining fights were from “Pride”

Look, I’m not going to spout a bunch of poorly spelled bullshit, but Static you’re an asshole. The fact is, if it wasn’t for UFC, there would be no Pride. It took Pride that whole decade they are so proud of to finally come into their own. At which point they had so much momentum behind them the UFC had no choice but to buy. (If you can’t beat em, buy em) Cro Cop is mostly laughed at today, most people have no clue what it took for Fedor to go out there and beat a militarily trained badass like Cro Cop in his prime. Huge victory, most people will never get that. Moving on, to speak of which organization put on a better show…well no contest. It was Pride. The way they put the fighters on multi-faceted risers up in the rafters in the big tournaments and hyped the fights and the production values and high levels of contrast, AMAZING. Another thing I wanted to point out, yes a lot of the Pride fighters are doing well in America but a lot have failed. The fact is, the ones that have excelled have done so largely because of the quality of the training camps here in the states. Also note, many of the fighters now considered top dogs in UFC were only mediocre in Pride. Training or level of competition? You be the judge. The UFC can obviously learn a lot, but to say “the UFC sucks” etc is to display your own ignorance. UFC unleashed was on earlier today, watching some of those first few fights leaves no doubt in my mind who set the stage and who is still running the show. Don’t forget to tune for Wandy vs Jackson 3 bitches.

Some one answer me this if pride was the Best MMa scene around why did it sell out to ufc, The Ufc didnt take it, They sold it, PRide was going down hill an UFc Saved its ass, You fucks should be thankfull u even see pride fighters fighting an Ohhhh who can u thank for this DANA FUCKING WHITE

Dana White has not done anyone any favors by buying Pride out… Pride fighters could and do fight in other organizations with much more freedom I might add. The only thing we have Dana White to thank for is those cute little dolls he’s been putting out…GEE THANKS DANA! When is the Dana doll coming out..or was it the first released? The Dana White Action Figure… hahaha what a joke… fits the UFC well!

@Just a question:

It does tire out pretty much, since the oponent puts his weight on the legs and you have to hold him. The same time your abdominals have to be contracted in order to keep your hips in the air, other wise the oponend can come over the top too easyliy. And last but not least, by upkicking the hole time you spend a lot of energy because you have to lift your own weigt and get the legs also back again quick, so the oponend can’T pass through.

All togerther theres much energy spend. Sometimes you can feel the energy loss just when you come back on your feet…feels like coming back from some miles running

To discussion above: I like both UFC and the good old Pride but I have to admit I loved the Pride crowd and I consider the western (not just american) crowds as respectles to the athlets.

That was a good documentary and everything…except they missed out the bits about fixing fights, deals with the yakuza and the bit about all the over hyped PRIDE fighters coming to UFC and getting their asses kicked.
