Phil Davis will take on former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 155 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas, the UFC stated Friday afternoon.
Griffin had been scheduled to face Chael Sonnen at the December event, but Sonnen was tapped to become a coach on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter against Jon Jones.
Davis is coming off a Wagner Prado win via an anaconda choke submission in the second round at UFC 153 on Oct. 13. Davis is 4-1 in his last six fights.
Forrest hasn’t fought since defeating Tito Ortiz at UFC 148 on July 7, 2012. He is 3-3 in his past six fights.
The fight is slated to be on the main card of the event. A heavyweight clash between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez is expected to be the main event.
