Alexander peppered Jones’s face in to a face that had “BEATEN” written all over it. Jones could barely speak straight hen talking to Rogan, nor could he even walk straight. Yeah Jone’s landed the harder shots and did rock Alexander ONE TIME, but the pace and aggression and excitement was all Alexander. Jones did keep himself composed and relaxed through his ass beating and didnt gas out as much as Alexander, but thats because he didnt leave it all in the cage like Alexander did. he excercised mental focus, not “warrior spirit”. But the UFC got to keep their poster boy, Gatorade and Nike endorsed superstar at the top because of neglegent judges who didnt look at the fight as a whole so of course Dana is gonna agree with the decision and say we’re all “the biggest buncha idiots” or some condecsending term to valifate the judges. FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Log in to Reply purebadass September 22, 2013 whats everyone upset about that shoulda been 50-45 from all the judges jones was never hurt. gustafson stood there whole fight like a pinata Log in to Reply ericsson September 22, 2013 jones was never hurt really.. jones got a beating Log in to Reply banana September 22, 2013 he went to the hospital on a stretcher… Log in to Reply sve September 22, 2013 Don’t forget that Gustafsson ate a lot of headkicks, despite injuring Jones more with his hands. I Knew it was going to be close after the fight finished – if you want to take the title you have to be really convince the judges you deserve it as they will default to the curent champion in a close fight(eg. Machida’s first fight vs Shogun). Log in to Reply Tempted September 22, 2013 Jones won the fight. He won the last 3 rounds, and the 1st could have gone either way. Jones was closer to finishing the fight in the 4th and 5th than Gust was at any point. If there would have been another 60 seconds in the 4th, the fight would have been stopped. Bones got hit, but he never got hurt. Gust got hurt many times and was dead on his feet the last 10 minutes. Log in to Reply mrl3 September 22, 2013 I’m not sure what fight the judges saw but Gustaffson won that one clearly….. Log in to Reply klutch September 22, 2013 Both of them went to the hospital….. Also in order to be the champ you got to beat the champ, and the fight could have gone 3 – 2 either way. So when it’s close the champ wins… even if it were a draw, jones would have kept the belt…. And I’m not a fan of Jones Log in to Reply mrl3 September 22, 2013 Who is there right mind sees the continuous leg slaps from Jones and call them significant strikes??? Log in to Reply mrl3 September 22, 2013 Jones had a few significant leg kicks to the body and head…..But most all the significant strikes I saw were coming from Gustafsson. Log in to Reply mrl3 September 22, 2013 Bottom line……..If Gustafsson lost that fight then there’s something wrong with the judges pointing system….. Log in to Reply mrl3 September 22, 2013 Look at the fans reaction around Davis and throughout the auditorium……No one can question that Gustafsson won. Log in to Reply charnc1122 September 22, 2013 Purebadass: What fight did you watch? I mean, really. How could anyone who watched that fight say Gus stood there like a pinata? Thats a bizarre statement. How many takedowns did Jones get? How many did Gus get? Who won on significant strikes? Did you see Jones’ face? Did you see him limp out? WTF were you watching? Log in to Reply yo September 22, 2013 (purebadass) is obviously an idiot. must have been sucking jones cock last night. gustafsson got robbed. Jones was moving forward the hole fight so I can see why the judges gave it to him, but he clearly got his ass kicked and he was even surprised he won check out his reaction when the cards were being read, when they said still champion he almost passed out. Log in to Reply Philo September 22, 2013 captain obvious, come on how long u been watching mma.. no fight is scored as a whole.. they score by rounds come on.. there were no 10-8 rounds on either side jones won rounds 2,4,5…. alexander was a beast by all means and the rounds he won were more desisave then jones besides rounds 4.. but he won 2 rounds and jones won 3 rounds bottom line.. alexander did not do enough to be the champ.. and Jones did show warrior spirit so did alexander those men put on one hell of a fight.. ps… how can say jones didnt leave it all in the cage look at that 5th round.. he threw everthing he had.. he left it in the cage… Ur just another typical hater.. Log in to Reply mentu September 22, 2013 this is mma not boxing and not street fighting… how one mans face looks doesnt determine the outcome… Gustafson also went to the hospital with a concussion and a broken rib. I don’t know about u but i’ll take a black eye and a busted lip over a concussion or a broken rib any day. Jones 3.5 rounds to 1.5 Log in to Reply Chefraski September 22, 2013 Exactly, those of you who think Jones lost, I don’t know what to tell you cause it was very close and it came down to the last round. Jones just edged out a victory. Jones stayed active but couldn’t just walk through Alexander the way he’s done everyone else. Of course, Phil Davis was shocked, he trained him for this fight but he didn’t do enough to beat the champion. Log in to Reply mma made easy September 22, 2013 I wasn’t sure who was going to win, honestly. I’m a huge Jones fan, and even before the fight started he seemed off somehow. By the end of the first round I wasn’t too confident he was going to pull it off. As for how it was scored, it was very close in my books. I was fairly confident it was going to be the difference of one point by the end – the fact that it wasn’t was a little odd for me, but, I look forward to the rematch for sure. Log in to Reply ash September 22, 2013 My reaction when this BUM beat Machida Log in to Reply TRA the Mens Rea September 22, 2013 During the fight Rogan seemed to think Gus won that fight. I thought Gus won it too. Jones was a beat up mess. I have not seen an MMA fighter’s mouth look like Jones’s after a fight. He had bloody balloon lips and seemed confused like his head was all scrambled. His speech was slurred too (in part from his wrecked mouth). Then Jones went to the hospital on a stretcher. Yeah gus went too but he gave interviews and hung out before he went to the hospital. Personally I think jones won just so Dana White doesnt have to mention Tito anymore. Log in to Reply concealedweaponclothing September 22, 2013 i was rooting for and a fan of jones. started fighting myself 16 years ago. fought pro, judged , been around since before it was even called mma. gustafsson won 1-4 him 5- jones oh i know goof fan mentality, save your dumb responses i would never bother to come back and check them Log in to Reply marcus miles September 22, 2013 In a Title Fight you have to decisively kick the Champs ass. If you win the fist half but and loose the second half with no gas left in the gas tank, of course you will loose a decision, you have to end strong. Im not saying its right but it has always been that way since the begining of combat sports. Its no Gatorade, Nike conspiracy. If you want to be the champ you have to take that shit. Gus didnt take it, he just did really really well and lost it all in the 4th. Maybe next time. Log in to Reply alxnexus September 22, 2013 close fight. no clear winner. gustafsson showed that jones has won other matches because of his hight and reach -he got beaten pretty hard, reminded me junior vs cain 2. key elbows and a late takedown from jones probably the thing that tilted the decision. rematch? most definitely -and if gustafsson wins that one, we could even consider a trilogy. great night of ufc fights cheers! Log in to Reply Ground St. Pound September 22, 2013 Just for the record. Alex went to hospital with a concussion and a rib injury, Jones went with a damaged foot. It looks like Jones damaged his foot in the 1st or 2nd round with a kick that landed wrong. He couldn’t walk out of the cage by himself. He fought 3 or 4 rounds with that injury and didn’t say a word about it after. And you guys here on the internet have the nerve to question his heart??? This guy pushed his opponent so hard he ripped his own toe off and he showed up at the press conference an hour later. Here, he fought almost a whole fight with an injury he can’t walk on. And you guys still have the nerve to question his spirit? C’mon, son. Log in to Reply CaptainObvious September 22, 2013 Philo… NO. Just no. Shhh. Log in to Reply Ground St. Pound September 22, 2013 And Jon landed more shots, more significant shots and they tied in takedowns with one apiece. Gus was also rocked and almost finished in the 4th. Gus also took head kicks like he was Maldonado’s brother. You may feel Gus won regardless (although I disagree) but saying he was “robbed” is really taking it way too far. If that’s what robbing a challenger in a championship fight looks like, I hope they keep robbing them. Log in to Reply champ September 23, 2013 How can people be giving gustaffson round 4 when he got smoked and almost put away. The takedown sealed round 5 for jones. Find 1 of the first 3 rounds to give to jones and you have the answer Log in to Reply Facefrack September 23, 2013 I think that Jones said it best when, with a badly swollen face n his mouth all busted up, he said that more important than the win was being tested n taken to his limit. No matter how you scored the fight, this one was a barn burner n we were the real winners. I’ve kind of decided to accept that judges don’t always see it the way that I do n I can let them make these decisions, but that I see what I see n honestly think that I see it as well as most of them do. I watched this one twice: the first time, I scored it 48-47 Gustafsson, n the second time I scored it 48-47 Bones. This one was so close! I would honestly spend several hours reviewing tape in slow mo to get more clarity about what actually happened. It’s east to tell what people throw, but it’s often much less clear how clean it lands until you can really watch the replay. I don’t know what kind of tech support the judges have during the fight (if any), but it may be that they have better ways of finding out what landed n how cleanly that exceed just watching. Many of Gustafsson’s combos were hard to see, due to camera angles n him just being really fast. Big ups to both! I like Glover, but maybe another 5 rounds of Bones fighting the Mauler is in order here. At least if Bones’ foot is alright n the timing works out. If Bones will be out for very long, maybe it would be good to let Gustafsson fight Teixira for the number 1 contender spot. Log in to Reply rob September 23, 2013 stop your bitching it was a close fight Log in to Reply americanMMA September 23, 2013 If UFC judges score takedowns for points, shouldnt the opponent get points for stoping takedowns? I dont see how Jones can win a fight wih only a few solid head kicks ..
