strange strange fight. Filho obviously nowhere near healthy. His trainers should have pulled him out when he missed weight, the writing was really on the wall for that one. Another perfect record shattered. Not sure how long it would have lasted in the UFC anyway tho. Must be an anticlimactic win for Sonnen. Thanks Bruno for the up.

filho wouldn’t last too long in the ufc. i think hendo, franklin, and especially palhares would beat him down bad. i think palhares is the man to watch in the ufc. i was really impressed with his performance against hendo and i think he will become champion within the next 2-years. that said, this fight was pretty terrible, wec is usually action packed, but not this fight

neither fighter looked very hungry for the win at all, paulo looked hungry for some more of the drugs he was evidentally on during the fight… i understand chael’s strategy for winning, but i thought they really wanted to beat the crap out of each other? I understand anger can be your enemy in a fight, but agression is also extrememly vital. chael looked like he was tickling Paulo with his punches and Paulo looked so high that I thought at any point during the match he was just going to fall to the ground and start busting out laughing or something… All in all, fighters at that level in the WEC should be performing wayyy better in every aspect.

I found this one of the strangest fights I’d ever seen. When the bell ended the fight Filho had no clue what was going on, I’d be a little surprised if he was on drugs during the fight though. This reminded me a lot of the Hashim Rahman fight years ago when he just stopped fighting in the middle of a heavyweight title match and just started to sob.

This guy looked more like he was having a nervous breakdown than anything else. Whatever is going on with this guy I hope he gets the help he needs to return healthy both in body and spirit.

I’m not sure what to think about that. No question he lost, but they changed the contract to a non-title bout. I’m not sure fiho should lose his belt, because for one, rules are rules, and two, Sonnen didn’t have to accept the fight. But it still seems like Sonnen should at least get an interim belt or something.

that wasnt rahman…that was oliver mccall who had a break down against lennox lewis…..and yea this was strange…even watching chael throw punches, he was just pitty patting paulo. awful fight.

No one mentions the fact that Sonnen put on one of the worst wins in WEC history. Boring as hell. no heart or drive. A lot of these guys seem to be more concerned with a paycheck rather than putting it all out there. I think the crowd was also booing at Sonnen. F both of them.

I think Sonnen was playing it safe just making sure he got the win no matter what by outpointing Filho. He was the one who had the most to lose in this fight. What if he had lost? He sure as hell wouldn’t have had a third shot at Paulo and another chance at the belt.
