Just missing the WEC tonight so I though I would post one of my favorite bouts from the early days of World Extreme Cagefighting. Perennial punching bag (Olaf Alfonso) and the guy who hugged everyone on The Ultimate Fighter 8 (John Polakowski).
This crazy bout took place back in Jan. 16, 2004.

if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times, for all the talk of Chuck this should be an easy one….whoever answers first gets a rep bump when the forums come back up 8) (lol) if you stun an opponent with a shot and he falls on his back….what do you do?
a) dive into his guard
b) kick his thighs like Pride is still alive!
c) stand over him and rain down punches
d) grab his ankles and look for some kinda pass

Does anybody remember when Olaf fought in Japan and said he trained for the fight my climbing trees? (And then went night night)
and dont ream my ass with circumstances, just picture 10 yrs ago, you punch a guy and he falls down………
he won because of a point deduction for a blow that had no impact on the actual fight itself, not saying it was bad call by the ref, just saying Polakowski got the fight, Olaf got the decision

hahaha i just googled polakowski, he has 4 fights on record and 3 are against this guy…wtf
“The entire arena is on their feet watching this fight” ummm, except for everybody on camera that is sitting in their seats calmly. Great action though, no denying that.
I’m surprised nobody said anything about the bizarre stand up around 18 minutes into it. I can understand them checking and/or cleaning the cut but Olaf had him mounted, so I think they should’ve restarted the fight from there. Having said that, I think that John should have won the decision, but they both earned my respect.
Should have been a draw. John pretty clearly took rounds 1 and 3. Olaf got round 2. With the point deduction it shoulod have been a draw.
Just fun! That’s WEC as I remember it!
@steamer: none of the above. Stomp his spine and soccer kick his head and ribs until oblivion.
It would probably get you disqualified in the WEC, though.
