DDDDAAAAAMNNNNNNNN.
I knew thats what was gonna happen didnt think he would retire BJ thats pretty bad ass.
If only BJ Penn could’ve got his hooks in he might’ve been able to finish that fight via guillotine really early. I thought he also could’ve gone for more takedowns instead of getting beat up against the fence, but I guess it’s easier said than done when Nick Diaz is unloading on you.
Retired by Diaz, nice way to go out ![]()
You would never see gsp aka sleeping pill aka lay and pray fight how nick diaz did tonight. Nick diaz soon to be the welterweight champion sorry haters no more excuses he destroyed a top ten opponent and from the ufc.
Nick did what he does best, punches in bunches with good timing. Great fight from both of these guys. Big fan of both, was rooting for Penn though.
Bj didnt look too great in this fight and diaz looked like he usually does. Kinda sad that most of Diaz’s past opponents dropped him and Bj couldn’t. Sad day to see one of my top 5 all time favorites retire, but I don’t think his heart is into it anymore and no one can compete at a high level without that.
man that sux that bj retired ![]()
Penn was doing very good but then he started backing up:(
bj NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…
Wow!
Joseph
I think you meant RNC, but either way Diaz wasn’t getting subbed. BJ’s only chance was to take it to the ground and stay on top for 3 rounds. Those are two fighters who do NOT get ko’d or subbed, I couldn’t see it any way except decision. Awesome fight.
great fight. lets hope lay n pray wants to stand up with nick. cuz i wanna see a FIGHT!!!
Very good fight for Diaz. It was definitely what i expected it to be. Diaz battered Penn and it eventually came down to who was in better shape. By the second round Penn was sucking air. Diaz should definitely have the next title shot with the winner of GSP/Condit.
oops, i mean;t BJ won the first. f****** time to go sleep (5:47 am)
Come on Pope! Didnt look good? We havent seen Penn that agressive or conditioned in a long time. If he would’ve been that aggressive that early in his last few fights he might’ve won a few. And to bang it out for 3 straight rounds bell to bell with Diaz is extremely impressive especially he had some nice flurries in the middle of that 3rd. Lots of heart tonight from BJ he’ll be back.
i’m a GSP fan, but i wouldn’t mind seeing Condit win the title. anyone else think that?
BJ must have the worst cardio in MMA… He was dominating first round! And he also has NO head movement. If he would move his head around a little he wouldn’t be such a clear target when pinned against the fence… Still great fighter and super sad to see him retire. But he’s done all he can do in the sport.
Great fight, Penn ran out of gas a little. Other than that Penn had good boxing in the middle of the ring, Nick was just stronger when it came to getting position. I really think Diaz has a chance at not just beating but dominating GSP
If BJ wasn’t going to get up for his fights anymore he should have retired earlier.
HOLY s***!
+1 4 cardio
GSP had a harder time with Penn. Diaz dominated
he went to draw to fitch… i wonder what nick diaz would do to fitch destroy him.
Wow. Awesome fight. I am pissed off it did not go 5 rounds like they initially said, would have been epic, damn. Diaz took the upset and props to the Stockton man, way to go to fellow northern Californian.
Diaz looked great. I love watching him fight. For those already giving him the title off this perforamnce. Let’s remember one thing, GSP will not stand and trade and if Diaz fights his typical style he will be on his back the WHOLE night.. He has not EVER done well against wrestlers… That’s the truth. (Still love him, but face it he has to catch GSP early) Both guys knew the other would trade. It is easy to stand and trade when you know you are not going to get taken down.. One important point as well, BJ won the first round. It sounds silly, but when he had gas his punches were crisp and landing, then he gassed and got tapped up. Condit or GSP will not gas.. Remember how Alves was going to butcher GSP standing… He didn’t fight for about 10 months after that fight… Koschek out for a year! I want to see the fight too, but Nick stylistically has a better shot against condit..
diaz is one hell of a fighter
yeah… Diaz. Keep dreamin. GSP ain’t scared of you. You are everything that’s wrong with mma. GSP will put him on his back and feed him some French Cock
that was a damn go0d fight…both of them were just f***** awesome
BJ did not look like before. He looked already tired and worn out. I think he was thinking retirement way before the fight. I’d be smart too and retire to be a family man.
its going to be good to see nick fight all the ufc wrestlers for 5 rounds from now on. now we can see him finish these guys
I must say as talented as BJ is, i was never truly a fan…somethin about his attitude. And tonight just proved it. the guy is just spoiled. He’s been a beast his whole carreer. goes out and tries to utterly destroy his opponents. then he finally gets some of his own medicine and he quits the sport…? Nonetheless props to diaz He’s on point as usual. and he will NOT destroy george…george will lay on him for 5 rounds and win…again
I said that BJ would have a 2:1 win ratio. Then he retired.
I suddenly wanna see Diaz move up to 85 and see Chael hand him a beating. Their whole crew are just a bunch of thugs encouraging him to call out GSP like this is some gang affiliated rival. Suck it Nick.
BJ should retire from 170! Ain’t got no business there. Would love to see him at 55. Not a GSP fan, but Diaz will get killed!
Damn BJ’s cardio! Don’t know why he runs out of gas so fast….is it because he’s getting older and it’s just harder to get that cardio in a supreme level? He did good that first round but even though Nick is a douche, good opponent to pass the torch too. Gonna miss you BJ!
Damn! Nick made BJ Penn retire, can’t blame BJ after all he was a punching bag on the 2nd and 3rd round.
penn could of had it if he threw more punches and had cardio lol but diaz just wrecks people plain and simple.
also it shows how good/tough kj noons is for going 5 rounds with diaz even with that fked up hair hahah dumbass
It was like watching a 20 year old pick on his chubby little 12 year old brother, a 6 inch reach advantage for the marathon man who was a head taller and Pudgy Penn was fighting above his natural weight class
Respect to Nick Diaz..respect to BJ for heart.
Props to Diaz.but dont really think that BJ is done.he didnt seem into this fight.he needs to stay @ his original weight class.putin on all that weight cant be good for cardio.sick fight.im now a fan of Diaz
If this was a five rounder, Nick would have KO’d BJ Benn. GSP is going to lay and pray, lay and pray, lay and pray… That is hot piece of a** with GSP, by the way. Probably his sister.
Not to toot my own horn, but damn, called it. At least it wasn’t a walk. =/

“I’d like to see B.J. put up a serious fight or even a win, but Diaz will walk through B.J. and retire him.”
I d’ont get people hating on B.J.
That was the best B.J. I have ever seen. He was able to trade with Diaz for the majority of the fight (on the losing end). I knew Diaz had the most effective striking in the division, but B.J. still impressed me.
Luckily for B.J. it was a 3 round fight.
Diaz is the same guy who knocked out Daley in the first round..
It will start looking real bad to let GSP fight Condit. If Nick is ready, let it happen
@julianmoran thank you. i don’t know why people are saying he had bad cardio. He slugged it out for 3 rounds. Go back to his last 4 fights if you wanna see BJ with bad cardio cause it would’ve been over in the 2nd if he came in the same as he did in those fights.
Im a gsp fan too but i know that diaz will take the belt when they fight. great defense by diaz on the ground in the first round not letting bj get both hooks in.
The only reason BJ didn’t look like BJ is because he was fighting Nick Diaz.
Many of you seem ‘miffed’ as to how this could have happened. If BJ had only done this or that…. It all becomes crystal clear once you admit the obvious. Nick Diaz is a bad ass!
just watched the presser and Nick DOES get the fight next. He still pissed all over Dana though…AWESOME lol
Seriously mmalove, if Penn were even considering retirement, don’t you think he would have saved himself the asswhooping of a lifetime and just done it beforehand? Everything he holds sacred was beaten out of him. He doesn’t really feel that way and will change his tune in time. It will end up more like, “Well as long as I don’t have to fight Nick Diaz im game.”
It actually says a lot about who BJ is that he stood up and took it.
As a big Diaz fan I’m not surprised he owned the standup. I am shocked that BJ gave up so easily on the idea of taking Nick down. This was supposed to happen at BJ’s will.
BJ out of shape? Really? You should try boxing(even shadow boxing) for 15 minutes. Not to mention all the body shots he absorbed!! BJ looked in great shape compared to the other outings at 170 sporting the muffin top. He looked slim. Plus, i havent seen many people take that many Diaz shots and stay standing. Bj has a hell of a chin.
LoL. “I won that s***!”
Diaz is tireless and that’s what wins fights like this. Cardio, cardio, cardio. The guy is a beast.
Fight of the year for me. Non stop exchanges. BJ, one of my all time favourites, he did get wupped, however he did throw some good punches of his own and was always a threat if he connected.
Now i know this isn’t a forum or anything, but i would love to see some polls up here Bruno for ‘fight of the year’, ‘fighter of the year’. ‘best newcomer’. I would be interested to hear what the people who post in the comments thought.
Nick Diaz is over-rated. His striking comes in bunches but they are so slow that it’s easy to counter. BJ was countering perfectly in the 1st. Ran out of gas in the 2nd and couldn’t maintain his counter punches in the 3rd but if you watch the fight closely whenever BJ countered perfectly many times throughout the fight and when he did counter all Diaz did was miss or cover his face with both his hands like a guy who can’t take a punch.
Pretty much like most expected. A great fight, BJ would win the first round, and if he couldn’t end it in the first, Diaz was going to win the fight.
It only reinforced my view that Condit is a more dangerous fighter against GSP. Diaz could even beat Condit, which would probably be one of the bedt fights of all times, but Diaz just doesn’t have any surprises for GSP. GSP will simply stat out of reach, throw some jumping jabs, take Diaz down, hold him dow for 30 seconds, get up and repeat.
GSP will have more problems trying to take Condit down (knees), and keeping him down (elbows from the bottom). Condit will try to bleed GSP out while Diaz will try to outbox and submit GSP.
Diaz hate continues but he just keeps proving people wrong.if GSP tries to make it a ground game he will find out that Diaz is as dangerous on the ground as he is on his feet
That’s the thing Tom. Most of us Nick Diaz fans realize that BJ Penn is a really really good fighter. Nick is just better.
Conversely, I read all sorts of excuses from fans when their fighter fails to perform. Rarely do I ever see credit given to Diaz.
If BJ Penn were fighting any other guy, he had a very good shot at winning. He’s not old. He’s not out of shape. He just got his ass beat.
@mmafan
Good for you, you were pissed about something that was never announced. Please tell me where you read that this fight was supposed to be 5 rounds. There’s so many people saying that and nobody ever announced that fight to be 5 rounds.
nick rules
I hate Diaz’s personality, but I will always pay to see him fight. He’s definitly one of the more exciting fighters to watch. Unfortunately, I see GSP laying on him for 5 rounds. I’m hoping I’m wrong though. GSP, on the other hand, is an example of someone whose personality I love, but hate watching him fight.
And to anyone who said Nick is a better Boxer and Nick is a better grappler you got your proof that he isn’t.BJ is light years better then Nick in boxing. He just doesn’t have any cardio. And BJ is a world champ in BJJ.Nick is great but not world champion caliber.Like Hughes said the winner would be the guy with the better cardio and it obviously was Nick.If BJ had a more cardio training(wich seems to be the thing he hates the most when he trains)he would’ve taken out Fitch and Diaz.Because when they were fresh,BJ was the better boxer, wrestler and grappler.Even if BJ tries to say he trains alot in cardio he knows and we all know he doesn’t train half as hard as every other top fighters in the world. He got so good in such a short time that when he had to train something that takes a long time(strenght and conditioning)he just didn’t seemed to have the drive to do it.BJ is the most talented fighter ever but his talent made him not train as much as he should and he realised that no matter how great you are,if you don’ thave good cardio you will lose against lesser fighters(Diaz,Fitch).
My vote for fight of the year. Here you have Nick pissed off that he didn’t get the gsp fight and fighting a awesome fighter in bj penn. Three round slug-fest went to Nick because he is a natural boxer. He broke down everybody the same way. Watch the fight again and you’ll see that BJ just couldn’t match Nick, and his punches just weren’t phasing Nick. That will make you lose faith alone.
GSP won’t have a chance if he can’t lay and hump on Nick for 5 rounds…nope…He will quit on his stool…GSP won’t take a 5 round beating, and BJ Penn wouldn’t have been able to either. It’s gonna get ugly. I’m no fan of Nick Diaz, but he’s very clever when it comes to winning…He beat BJ with boxing.
Diaz is a mental retard, he has good cardio but no explosive power, triathlons do NOT improve your anerobic conditioning.
GSP is explosive and athletic, he will run right through the pitter patter thug from a Nor Cal trailer park.
Penn lost that fight because of the size difference and Penn’s poor game plan (backing up against the fense, not moving, allowing so many body shots etc) not because Nick is so amazing.
@Randy Couture You said Diaz is everything that’s wrong with MMA? What kind of lady are you? You hate Diaz because he calls people out. You think he’s low class but how many of you GSP lovers remember him disrespecting Matt Hughes after a title defense? He came in the ring and said that he didn’t respect Matt’s victory. It was a total douche move. GSP is no saint. He’s just as cocky and obnoxious as a lot of them. He cleaned up his attitude so he could get more promotional money for selling garbage clothes and supplements. Diaz doesn’t care about being a corporate puppet. He just wants to fight and be the best. How can you not respect that?
riiiiiight…this is like saying if BJ was a better fighter, he’d be a better fighter. Cardio is a tool-just like boxing or jitsu and besides, BJ didn’t gas so much as he kept getting peppered with slap after slap after slap. His will to punch got gassed at times but he wasn’t gassed.
ALL you lames taking s*** on older post about diaz now you prob feel like some flakes
agreed with KungFu….BJ outboxed Nick in the first round, and who thinks differently should watch that round again. Nick won because of better cardio, but he has no chance against GPS. Other than pincher’s chance, of course.
I can’t even watch this s***.
…stamina. Simple as that.
Saying the only reason Nick won is cardio is retarded. Watch more than a few of Nick’s fights. BJ didn’t gas, he got punched in the gut and the liver over and over. No matter how good your cardio is you are going to get worn out and struggle to breath. Any of you armchair MMA experts ever been hit in the ribs 20 times in a matter of minutes? Guess what, it gets harder to breath and throw punches. BJ comes from a wealthy family. Nick from a poor one. It disgusts me that some of you keep slamming Nick because of his background. I’d rather cheer for a poor kid with the heart of a lion, than a spoiled, cocky brat.
I was asking why it wants me to subscribe to a premium account to watch the videos.

“Diaz hate continues but he just keeps proving people wrong.”
***************************************
Uhhhhhhh can you explain to me how Diaz beating a fighter who stepped up to a weight class he doesn’t belong in, with a huge reach disadvantage, huge cardio disadvantage, and boxing disadvantage = “Proving people wrong” LOL? And BTW Condit, GSP, Fitch, Anthony Johnson = Diaz getting his ass handed to him in the UFC.
Bottom line is Nick Diaz didnt change a thing in his game plan for any other fighter hes faught and he dominated BJ Penn plain and simple…Threw a ridiculous amount of body shots, mixed it up really well, pressed Penn up against the cage. Thats gonna tire anyone out he has effective game plans and tools that compliment it and BJ penn couldnt answer.
@ J
perhaps i am an armchair expert, but i haven’t seen much of those body punches in the first round….i guess it’s easier to hit the target that doesn’t move….as far as hating on Nick, i don’t hate on anyone, rich or poor….heck, i don’t even care if Nick can or can’t put together a meaningful sentence, cause it’s really not in his job description…
“Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night!” f****** EPIC
Doesn’t matter how incredible you think Diaz is, or how boring you think GSP is.
It’s MMA, and Wrestling will be the decider in the Diaz/GSP fight. George will make Diaz look like every other opponent, out of his element, lost, and unable to find an answer to St.Pierre’s Wrestling.
Diaz is a beast.
@ Fedorfails. How can you say BJ stepped up to weight class he doesn’t belong in? He’s the former champion of that weight class! Did you just start watching MMA yesterday? LOL
@ zagor. I take it you didn’t watch rounds 2 and 3? Who cares if BJ fared better in the first round? He didn’t hurt Nick at all. And he didn’t stand a chance against Nick’s BJJ. Nick was never in trouble. BJ was ineffective in all 3 rounds. Nick deserves credit for beating a great fighter, but you arrogant pricks would rather make comments about his intelligence or upbringing.
did any1 see BJ’s emotional walk towards the cage?
BJ is the man. I always thought he looked phenomenal at 155 though. 170 is too much for him. Please come back to 155 please!
I love it how so many homos call Diaz a douche and then bring Sonnens name in like hes a good guy.. LMAO…Sonnen is a bigger douche cos at least Diaz backs his attitude when he fights….Sonnen is a homo one trick pony, disrespectful piece of trash who uses a better vocabulary…WOW
I think GSP will beat Nick Diaz! I know lots of Nick diaz nut hungers popped up now because he had a dominating performance against BJ but GSP is much much better than BJ, anything could happen in a fight! but I think GSP sill has more chance beating Diaz than the other way around!
I find the comment by Diaz fellow trainers “call out that m***********” disrespectful and I want diaz to lose badly now! Diaz is very good fighter but with no brain!
lets face it, theres a new wave of young and hungry fighters in the game today, the diaz brothers being a couple of them, first matt hughes, now bj penn, just got gsp left , who by the way had one of the most boring fights his last fight…wont be surprised if diaz makes gsp retire as well.
@J,
I guess you must too young to know whay GSP said that during the fight. It was in retaliation to Matt’s comments after GSP vs KOS (first fight).
MATT said “Georges St-Pierre’s recent title defense over Josh Koschek was boring and that the welterweight champ is playing it safe because he’s overpaid”
if you want to pretend to quote history atleast do it right. GSP’s exact comment was “I am Not Impressed with your Performance” its called selling a fight.
You seriously think there is nothing mentally wrong with Diaz?
another removed video, bruno, where is this fight vid??
Bruno: Works for me.
well i tried it earlier today and it was removed. then tried again and ill i got was post fight. oh well saw it now. good s***
lol @ the butthurts on this thread crying about BJs loss. If crying werent enough, you make up fantasy stories. Diaz by no means got beat in the boxing in rd 1. More strikes landed by a mile and that includes the ones bj got em with on the ground.q want a tissue?
BJ Penn retire with no false ego in him full of class, short and simple, now that’s a true champion. really nice fight for Nick Diaz, you can see BJ’s body just giving up on him that’s probably why he didn’t attempt more take downs(BJ was never known as a strong wrestler anyway).
i hope BJ become a successful MMA/BJJ trainer some day.
a boxing match between a kangaroo and a monkey, nick THEASS is the monkey with that long reach
