If he fighting like a job, he should and better play by the rules. The press conference is a part of it, it is nothing new, and people expect him to show up either in person or on the phone. So, except you died on the way to press conference or someone mug you while you are on the phone, there is no excuse.
Regarding to his comment, “ready to fight” is one thing, ready to fight by the rules is another. Diaz has issues, we know he is really good at combat sport, but he has serious issues in life. Please, get help or you will be washed out and hung dry.

He obviously smokes pot and was probably on one of his “F that, I don’t feel like going to know damn press conference” moods. I am convinced that he has some sort of personality and/or social anxiety disorder and needs professional help. Diaz v. Penn will be interesting as both fighters are strongest on the very same things. Overall, Penn is better, but it depends on Penn being in shape for the fight.
