Panic attack? Deep psychological issues? Last-minute emergency? Douchebaggery? Absolute lack of professionalism (could have called in advance)? Assh*le (Letting a bunch of dying kids down)? None/all the above?

I want to see people explain this one…

Oswald Cobblepott Says, in 5-13-2012 at 09:04:48 from

Diaz is a pipe! He has no business amongst the gentleman of the fight game. This should justify the made up idea that he created about beating Condit.

thejkj Says, in 5-13-2012 at 09:15:56 from

Well if he was over weight at first then maybe Nick didn’t want to go against someone who would have a weight advantage. Even if he made the weight the day of the match, Nick was told the day they were supposed to make weight that his opponent was over and couldn’t make it. Just an idea

thejkj Says, in 5-13-2012 at 09:18:40 from

Just found out on Diaz’s twitter that the promoter refused to give the money to charity so he didn’t want to do the match. Plus he felt that they were going to ally Estima to compete even though he was over weight.

Nick Diaz failed to show up at the event, making everyone who paid 10 bucks to watch it regret that his hoodrat mother ever squatted down in the corner of a crack house and farted him out in between rock hits.

bruceli Says, in 5-13-2012 at 11:01:10 from

I seriously doubt that the promoters would refuse to give the money to charity and that BS about Estima not making weight is fabricated by his team. What’s wrong with Diaz, the guy is not a professional and I definately lost all my respect for that guy.

scottc Says, in 5-13-2012 at 11:28:16 from

The rules of the tournament is that contenders must make weight and are weighed the DAY of the match. Estima made weight the day of the match. So any of the Diaz nuthuggers want to use that as an excuse for Nick not showing up for the match is null and void. What an embarrassing situation for organizer Renzo Gracie and the anger that fans feel for buying tickets to the event or shelling out 9.95 to see the match on tv. Nick turned his back on sick children as well who will not receive the purse he was supposed to donate to them. What a jerk.

Well, Nick not accepting to fight because the promoter wouldnt give the prize to charity is weird to say the least.. give the money to diaz and diaz will then give the money to charity… does that make sense?!

In BJJ fighters weigh in the day of the fight, not the day before. It seems like Braulio did exactly that. He was also willing to accept that Nick wasn’t on weight and fight anyway.

Don’t know what happened with Nick, he doesnt seem to be the sort of guy to back down from a thing like this, so would love to know what really happened.

More Nick Diaz hater bandwagon hoppers. You know how you can tell a the brainwashed sheeple from the people? Easy… i’ll explain. When the “sheeple” gang up and allow the media and the misinformation (remember too that Estima the so called professional one said he could NOT make weight) to fuel their fire and hatred for someone (like the witch hunts back in the day), that folks is a sheeple. Now when you have reasonable people who try and get all the facts before jumping on the bandwagon of hate, and to look at things objectively, thats a people. Think sheeple.

southiejimmy Says, in 5-13-2012 at 19:08:51 from

Diaz is a douch plain and simple. At what point does he stop blaming everyone else, and start to take responsibility. And when will people stop defending him. In strikeforce, he said he was under appreciated and under paid. He blamed mayhem for not taking a possible catch wieght fight which was never even offered, and which mayhem was not obligated to take even if it were. Then diaz has all the drama with the ufc, makes excuses, and blames everyone else. Then his defenders say s*** like, oh, the ufc is a big mean corporation who are just picking on diaz. How dare they demand that diaz do press conferences and other things he is contractually obligated to do…they have some nerve. Poor nick diaz. Well this latest stunt proves that all nicks bullshit is not a result of some conspiracy againt poor little nick diaz, but a result of nick diaz’ childish “im a poor victim” attitude and lack of professionalism. As fans and consumers, we shouldnt be defending him, we should be condemning him. Lets not let mma go the way of most other sports, a bunch of over paid crybabies.

Diaz is lucky he can compete in these super fights under contract some fighters can’t. The guy should be grateful we put him in the same sentence as Nick Diaz.

Something doesn’t sound right here. I need more explanation on both sides. Where was the official weigh in? Why was Rhonda Roussey involved? Just like UFC, they should have an official weigh in at the same time a day before the fight. And why was the organization there pulling the option to give away the purse to charity at the last minute; I’m sure Diaz made a mention of it way earlier since Braulio is talking about it here wtf who organizes this s***?

MuffDiggler Says, in 5-13-2012 at 22:41:29 from

From what i understand the final time allowed to make weight was indeed 10am day of the fight (which was at night i believe). So i am not sure what the hell Nick was pissed off at since Braulio made weight as was contractually agreed upon.

@thejkj: if what you say is true then that makes no sense at all! Typically the promoter pays the fighter (or his management team) directly. After that the fighter can do whatever the hell he wants with his money. I never heard of a promotion saying we wont pay cuz you want to give your money to someone else. Im calling bullshit on that story.

levercham Says, in 5-14-2012 at 07:20:50 from

thejkj, read the post again, actually read it this time, like you have a 5th grade education. it states rather plainly that nick diaz was the one over weight, but estima was willing to have the match anyway. he states this rather clearly, it isnt difficult to understand. you took the time to post twice, and read peoples twitter posts regarding the issue, yet you failed utterly to use basic reading comprehension skills.
sorry, pet peeve of mine.

all that being said, i like nick diaz as a fighter, im a fan i have to admit, even though he pisses me off with his being so damned unprofessional.
nick has really got to get his s*** together if he expects to compete at the champion level in UFC.
yes i know he beat the hell out of a much smaller bj penn, but bj can no longer hang with the top talent in 170, so its not really as if nick beat a top 10 170 pounder in there.

He continually acts out, escalating his bullshit every time like a 14 year old slow learner. Doesn’t matter if he wins or loses, he always the victim. He truly has some mental issues, and this fighting thing just compounds his problems…In my opinion, he is done, and will never fight again. PitfighterZ Says, in 5-14-2012 at 18:08:44 from

@Christian: That was too f*cking funny!

@C outura: Back at you. I didn’t say anything against Diaz, I just said that I was curious about what explanation (see? I didn’t even say “excuse”) people would find for Diaz’s behavior.

The fact is simple: Diaz agreed to the fight, signed a contract, showed up for the weigh in on the wrong day, although nobody but his team saw it, and left the children’s hospital, the paying audience, and his fellow fighter hanging. If he had a problem with the situation, he could have simply called it and let people know he wasn’t going to show up. He didn’t do that. Cesar Gracie himself is still trying to figure out the reason as Braulio weighted in in front of the Cesar Gracie’s team and made weight.
Unless his next appearance is at the Children’s Hospital with a nice big check, any other excuse he comes with will be useless. Now, if he shows up with the check, I am still curious about the “explanation.”
See C outura? No need to be all up in arms for this. Let’s just wait to hear what Nick will come up with to explain this one. Then you can continue to offend me as much as you want. I know how to skip comments… =P

southiejimmy Says, in 5-14-2012 at 23:59:37 from

I read the article on mmajunkie.com, all i see there is a promoter who is trying to cover his ass, and the manager of a mentally disturbed fighter trying to play spin doctor and defer some of the blame. Regardless, estima showed up for the matchup, and ultimately made the wieght. Diaz didnt show up, and we dont know if he would have made wieght, so in the court of public opinion, if you have to choose who is the larger douchbag, i have to say diaz wins. Diaz knew this was for charity, and should have done the event anyway, even if estima had come in over wieght. Nick always talks about how tough and bad he is, but he wouldnt even be man enough to do a charity bjj match with a guy who he percieved had a bit of a wieght advantage.
Losing a bjj match to estima is nothing to be ashamed of, especially if its for a good cause, but diaz’ childish view of everything clouded his judgment, and he once again percieved himself as a victim…and threw a tantrum like a 4 year old. Hey nick diaz, wake up. Your not a poor, under privelaged, inner city, gang banging, opressed minority any more. Stop playing the “im just a poor inner city thug” act. You are a well known and well paid athlete in the fastest growing sport in the world, you can afford to buy whatever you want, whenever you want, so stop the act.
And before every diaz defender starts with the “oh, but hes still going to give the money to charity” argument, of course he is, because his handlers will tell him to in order to do some damage control. Believe me, if nick diaz thought he could keep his money and not look like more of a douch…he would.

steamer Says, in 5-15-2012 at 02:43:05 from

Just bar him from competition. He has a long standing record of poor sportsmanship. Who gives a F*** how good he is. I’ve never seen anyone handle B.J. like he did, and to be honest, I feel like if they would have given him a shot at G.S.P. a month after the B.J. fight the world would be bowing to a new champ. But at this point I’m done with Nick Diaz. He acted like Diego didn’t deserve to fight him, then got out wrestled. He traded shot for shot and then tapped Takanori, to become in my mind the last PrideFC lightweight champ. I don’t care if he smoked weed. Doesn’t really have much to do with fighting, other than to calm down young studs. It’s really useless as a fight supplement. Only true geniuses (and those with incurable diseases) need weed medically. Either way, to no-show over and over. Dude…seriously. I have an astronomical IQ and I won’t make excuses for you. If you’re a F*** up. You’re a F*** up.

steamer Says, in 5-15-2012 at 03:20:04 from

the only way I will be OK with this, is if at the last minute the UFC realized how much attention this would draw and payed Nick not to fight and he comes back and sweeps the the division. @p***********, before you go calling people retards, maybe you should look in the mirror. I read the link you posted, and all i see there is the same old drivel and excuses from the diaz camp for his childish and unprofessional behavior. of course they are going to defend diaz and make excuses for him, hes thier meal ticket. If your intent was to use that posted link as a defence of diaz’ actions, i think it has backfired on you. If you had any reading comprehention skills, you would have seen the contradictions and hypocrasy of some of the statement. They talk about what a good guy nick is, and how his big concern was for the charity, then they talk about how poor nick is just a patsy and is being used.(sounds familiar huh). Seems to me that no matter what the circumstance, be it his opponent not making wieght, or some other trivial matter, if nicks main concern was the charity, he would have made it happen. Nick might be a good fighter, but hes not much of a man. Being a man also includes honoring your obligations in business and life. If the problems nick percieved were so great, what he should have done was show up, put on the match, and then address the issues after the fact.
What happened here is nicks ego got in the way, and he felt like he was too big of a star for this event, and said F*** it.

PitfighterZ Says, in 5-15-2012 at 15:11:29 from

Cesar’s article just shows that Junior (if this is the same Junior that has done some expo work in Brazil, the guy is dirty as sh*t) created a web around everyone. HOWEVER, the Gracies still chose to deal with the guy and Nick still agreed to the fight even knowing he was dirty. the problem would have been solved if they had a minimum (and I mean the VERY minimum) of professionalism and pulled out of the event as soon as they found out the guy was dirty. The way the whole thing played out, they are as much to blame in deceiving the public as the dirty prick.
I think Braulio got as enthralled in this as Nick, but nothing excuses anyone’s role in this. They were all too happy to deal with a dishonest man to keep Renzo in the black.
I hope the Gracies will learn their lesson this time. This is not the first time they get pulled into this kind of mess. Fool me once…
