TIME OUT. whoops. say something about it at the end of the round.

Boner89 Says, in 9-15-2010 at 22:44:39 from

He was telling the ref that Nate had his leg greased, even though Nate was just sweaty.

kenshiro Says, in 9-15-2010 at 22:50:34 from

He was saying that Nate was greased at the ankles he was pointing that out when he got tagged!!!

Jaws Says, in 9-15-2010 at 22:53:01 from

is greasing illegal

ratachola Says, in 9-15-2010 at 23:08:10 from

yeahp he was telling herb dean about nate being so slippery and nate jump on him when he was distracted….nothing to blame to nate….he just takes the aoportunity…not so good sportmanship but this is fighting….not tennis….palhares was so naive…..i still think palhares could win that fight…

one two Says, in 9-15-2010 at 23:35:47 from

the doctors and refs checked nate for grease directly after the fight and said he was completely clean just sweaty. if you watch closely i think nate missed him tryin to alert the ref as he was scrambling right then, and just saw an opening.

mohamtagcad Says, in 9-15-2010 at 23:42:40 from

palhares is stupid!!!

Throne Says, in 9-16-2010 at 01:14:55 from

It was a great fight night…crowd went nuts when Nate tagged him….hope UFC comes back to Austin soon….well worth the money.

survival lobby Says, in 9-16-2010 at 01:36:01 from

Palhares wasnt even looking at Herb Dean you idiots.

madona Says, in 9-16-2010 at 02:01:33 from

Palhares, could have won by a north south choke, but went for the leg, he then thaught Nate greased so told the ref (who did not stop the fight in time) meanwhile Nate jumped in for the finish.
It was a win for Nate( assuming he did not grease) but in reality it was a misunderstanding.

Welcome to Grease Gate II

viking Says, in 9-16-2010 at 02:57:28 from

Greasegate-wannabe s*** all over again. Sour grapes, plain and simple. Palhares was stupid and paid for it with an L.

shocktime Says, in 9-16-2010 at 04:39:39 from

Well Nate does train with GSP possible he was greased LOL!

natedog Says, in 9-16-2010 at 04:57:41 from

hmmm, i predict i will lose by ankle lock so i will grease my ankles up so i won’t loose

No good

RalekGracieFan Says, in 9-16-2010 at 07:06:03 from

Nate was not the better fighter, but he won. I was glad because I think that Palhares dude is a major roid/PED user. No man can b built like that naturally. I think Nate was going to lose, but very pleased he found a way to win.

Nate is also a proven roid user, but hard to say when he stopped since he got caught. This fool Palhares is a joke. He has skills, yes, but his explosiveness is due to roids.

Isn’t this the guy who didn’t let go of a leg lock recently? Too lazy to look it up. If so, I hate him even more.

vsmoove Says, in 9-16-2010 at 10:25:18 from

As someone else said, he was not gesturing towards Herb Dean so that story makes no sense… maybe he was looking at his corner to stop the fight…

handjob Says, in 9-16-2010 at 10:37:43 from

i think there was grease residue from the gsp vs penn fight at ufc 94

mysryluvscmpany Says, in 9-16-2010 at 11:44:33 from

Palhares shouldve never just stopped fighting like that but…..nate definatly took full advantage of the situation, if he really was greased then they should straight up give him a loss and fine him…that is some busch leauge bullshit but i kinda doubt it or they wouldve done something about it on the spot…sad to cuz i really think that what little they did fight palhares looked like the superior fighter

Kris Says, in 9-16-2010 at 12:52:45 from

I’m pretty sure Palhares can tell the difference between sweat and grease, with the amount of legs he has held onto in his career. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a GSP and Marquardt fan, but now have some serious concerns towards the Jackson camp.

I wanted Marquardt to hurt Palhares for his heel hook on Drwal, but feel he may have been robbed. Just my opinion though

dieselhead Says, in 9-16-2010 at 12:56:47 from

embarrassing, you’re in the cage to fight, dude. Make your accusations between rounds.
Maybe not the best looking thing to do, but Nate was in a FIGHT (hello!!!) so that’s what he did. I can’t blame him for the win

Eye4anEye Says, in 9-16-2010 at 12:58:52 from

there was no grease, nate has sweaty shavin legs and clean sweaty skin on clean sweaty skin is a very slick combo. palhares didnt even have the hold locked in. when you know someone is going to look for a certain lock then you obviously train on seeing it coming and how to get out of it. people need to stop trying to take credit away from nate when the victory is well deserved. its RP’s own damn fault for crying that is “golden ticket to victory” didnt work. and yes, he did hold that same heel hook on someone well after the ref tried stopping the fight and was fined and i believe suspended for it.

Cheater Says, in 9-16-2010 at 13:05:42 from

How coincidental is this: Jackson’s camp has been caught greasing before. The ankles are greased, where Palhares is most dangerous at leg locks. Palhares is a master at leg submissions but Nate slips out like a baby was attempting it. And Palhares complains to the ref (he is an experienced fighter, he wouldn’t have complained if it wasn’t greased).

I bet Jackson’s camp wiped him down after real quick before the ref could check him. You can’t get that sweaty where you pull your leg and it slips out from a deep lock like that with ease; especially in the first round. Nate even made the excuse of saying i warmed up extra in the back lol to me that is just a cover up.

shoto Says, in 9-16-2010 at 13:07:48 from

when your in a high profile pro fight. NEVER take your eyes off your opponent, if you think he is greased up that badly let the ref know inbetween rounds. dumb dumb dumb mistake on palhares’ part, he deserved that whooping for such a piss poor excuse.

thaddiuslustre Says, in 9-16-2010 at 17:47:07 from

everything about ufc stinks to high heaven! you would imagine with all the experience on Palhares’s part he’d know the difference between sweat & greasing. Obviously he does, but unfortunately the more marketable English speaking fighter won; this so-called apology by Rousimar seems like a lame attempt by ufc & co. at damage control.

ufc is NOT MMA!

reality show charade is what it is!

mmafan Says, in 9-16-2010 at 17:49:06 from

What a messed up result, on both sides. Nate warmed up extra to have extra sweaty ankles? He noticed that Palhares looked away , towards the ref, and he took advantage of that to pounce? And Palhares, what a stupid thing to do in the middle of a fight in a vulnerable position, after Nate escaped, stand up or something, and complain when you are not in a vulnerable position..stupid stupid stupid all the way around… talk about leaving the fans with a disappointed feeling of WTF?

Toeknee Says, in 9-16-2010 at 22:14:01 from

let watch the full fight before you make these assumptions. Nates attempt for an inverted triangle didnt just slip out of his legs. he also grabs his ankles in an attempt to keep the hold in…again it didnt just slip out of his hand.ALSO herb dean checked his legs/ankles directly after the fight when RP was accusing him.And yes when you know a guy is a specialist you train the escapes. nate turned his heel up and pulled out. good job Nate

kaps Says, in 9-16-2010 at 22:27:50 from

Disappointed…It’s Palhares mistake but I thought Nate is a better fighter than this. Attacking one when he is not looking at him. There is nothing to celebrate Nate…You are not a real fighter…

TheCanadian Says, in 9-16-2010 at 23:07:09 from

@ Cheater
“I bet Jackson’s camp wiped him down after real quick before the ref could check him.”

DUUURRR THE CAGE IS SEE THROUGH DUUUUURRR you seriously mean to tell me they walked up, toweled his leg off, and did all of this without ANYONE at ringside being like WTF? You are dumb. Anyone who thinks he greased is dumb. He could wipe it off in the middle of a SEE THROUGH 30 FOOT CAGE? Its also basically impossible to just apply grease to a guy before a fight these days. There never just alone in the back theres always people around. And its not like you can grease up hours before the fight without it drying up. Marquardt is smart and worked up a mild sweat BEFORE the fight even started.

The GSP greasing incident was a result of a guy applying it between rounds, and obviously your not gunna do something like that in the middle of the 30 FOOT SEE THROUGH CAGE (i cant emphasize enough how stupid anyone who thinks the guy can wipe himself off without anyone seeing is) and be able to get away with it, or he woulda.

marco Says, in 9-17-2010 at 00:12:03 from

nate shouldnt hit palhares when h wasnt watching, thats a cowards move

willienugget Says, in 9-17-2010 at 00:25:31 from

There is no chivalry inside a cage. You look away and expect to get jacked!

Mike Says, in 9-17-2010 at 06:23:45 from

If you watched the whole fight, RP had that leg lock deep and Nate just magically slipped away, whether it was from sweat or grease really doesn’t matter. You must protect yourself at all times. #1 rule in all full contact fight sport. Anyway, I think the grease came from RP’s face when they were rolling around earlier coupled with sweat. Fighters usually get grease around their brows and forehead before the fight to prevent abrasions and cuts.

H8on Says, in 9-17-2010 at 13:09:05 from

if you way attention to the scramble, Nates legs are all over palhares face for a sec. Not saying thats what did it but damn he got blasted for trying to call time out aha

JStyleZ Says, in 9-17-2010 at 15:39:42 from

In the interview immediately after the fight with Joe Rogan, Nate said he had a good warm up and wanted to be sweaty because of RP’s leg locks. But aren’t there certain rules against excessive sweating while you warm up prior to leaving the locker room?

makingmmamoney Says, in 9-17-2010 at 17:16:44 from

Nate is a punk ass bitch for these types of antics, the gracies smacked him up back in pride for punching after a stoppage…Hey Dana feed this girl to Vitor and lets see him get knocked into seizures like he gave Lindland, that will be SWEEEEEEEEEEET.

ddiaz1212 Says, in 9-17-2010 at 21:50:22 from

immediately after the accusation of “greasing” the ref and the commission inspected nate. they wiped his leg down with a paper towel and waited for it to dry. if it was still moist, greasy, or somewhat transparent then grease was applied. however the paper towel dried with no problem indicating that it was merely sweat…

even palahares admitted he was wrong…

so every one stop being a bitch
