MMA Live Extra Takes A Look At UFC 148 Silva vs Sonnen 2.
people forget- silva has one of the strongests chins in the biz.
who are these “experts”?
I would disagree with the fact that the “Triangle Choke is Sonnen’s Aquile’s tendon” due to the fact that when you look at his record you will see that he has been armbarred almost as many times as he’s been triangled (4 Triangle Choke Losses and 3 Arm Bar submissions) so in reality its more accurate to say that his “weakness” is his submission defense from the guard against elite grapplers. It’s very simplistic to say that “He has to stay out of that triangle” when there are many other submissions available from the guard of a BJJ black belt. That just happens to be the submission he got caught in when he made a technical mistake last time they fought.
These guys don’t know s***. No more fights at 185? I bet Munoz, Bisping and ESPECIALLY Hector Lombard would disagree.
Wow they just said that Silva needs to go off first, play guard like a black belt and relax.I think Silva”s training team never told him such good tips for a fight. These 2 experts are journalists who are not fighters. Why does anybody take these guy’s opinion seriously.I could talk about basketball but that wouldn’t make me an expert because i nver played basketball. The noly people who can be called experts are fighters and coaches, actual experts of martial arts, not writers.
^ whatever
“exports” may A$$
is funny how everyone has forgotten about how in the last fight one of the fighters came in with a testosterone ratio of 17:1 and pretend that didn’t play a role.
haha funny to hear these guys’ expert opinions. It’s like watching mma fights with my friends who know nothing about mma and fighting, it’s ANNOYING! ![]()
great fight great styles i hope its a brawl because i think it will be anderson is getting old it don’t think he will F*** with dui jon jones aka mike tyson or george st pierre
Oh dang it. MMA is becoming like Basketball and Football with guys coming on with no real background and dumbing it down for the masses. Creating storylines that don’t exist. Giving golly gee fight analysis on par with what the average fan of 5 years ago knew.
But I guess now we have a lot more fans. So now we need these f****** tools. Why can’t Bas and Rogan just do everything. I mean, jesus I can beat the s*** out of both of these guys.
I know its a dirty tactic, but elbows when in the guard to try and cut silva could be the way to go. Goes to the scorecards, Sonnen wins, then look forward to the biggest trilogy decider in MMA history ![]()
i like these guys.
the one with the beard is sexy man style.
@kungfu Becuase TV is GOD!
^ Exports may ah-dollar-dollar?
^^^^ f***** newbs do a little research to find out who these journalist are. IDIOTS.. SMH
I like both journalists, but they missed the mark here in my humble opinion. First of all, Anderson already cleared up at the press conference that this will NOT be his last fight (especially since with his sponsors and the fight being in Lost Wages he may earn up to $8 million for this fight alone)..secondly, no mention of Silva looking uncharacteristically off in the first fight, and thirdly, I’m sure Sonnen’s camp was thinking how in the hell can you hit a guy 300+ times and he doesn’t have a scratch? Of course they’re working on his elbows…
@JoJo: I couldn’t agree more with you bro, you hit the nail in the head. As the UFC continues to become more mainstream we will be getting more of these supposed “experts” and crappy TV reports that make the sport look like the NFL. Sad…
Silva is’nt interested in moving up to the 205 pd class where he would get beaten by Jon Jones. Silva said himself that there is’nt any brazilian fighter now that can beat Jon Jones. Silva can’t beat Jones either and he knows this. The reason that Silva’s manager says that Silva would interested in a super fight with GPS is HUGE PAY DAY for that event, but mainly it’s because of Silva’s confidence that he would’nt loose the fight with GPS. GPS would’nt be able to Strike with Silva and would also be very cautious in going to the matt with Silva too for fear of being submitted by Silva’s long limbs.
Inside, I am laughing at all of you who believe you were watching the real Anderson Silva in the cage last time. I’m also dying laughing at these reporters and analysts that say absolutely NOTHING about Sonnen’s testosterone-laden drug test having an impact on his performance. I believe the Anderson Silva rib explanation, but that’s mostly speculation. Due to patient confidentiality, we’ll never know, but when compared to his other performances, it is easy to see why I, among others, can believe that something was wrong with Silva. I’m just surprised no one else that was cageside acknowledged that Silva’s performance was lacking something they were accustomed to seeing. Either way, Sonnen has not done himself any favors by giving Silva the motivation to rip his head off.
Chael us F****D
LIL update for the rookies:
these guys are in fact experts and they articulated their points very well. they are both highly more educated and articulate sounding then the presidents of the ufc organization for instance..:)
Perfect example…Chael comes in roided for Anderson, steam rolls him, loses unexpectedly. Chael comes in unroided against Bisping, barely beats him (some could argue) practically gasses.
Huge difference. Testosterone depletes over the years, making you slower, weaker. If you are boosting levels of T that Chael was, you are faster, stronger, you feel 19 again. HUGE HUGE advantage versus a guy that can barely breath. You saw it in that fight, Anderson was slow, his reaction time was even slower…yet he still absorbed Chael’s so called ass whooping and submitted him.
320 strikes? Anderson looked like he came out of a sparring session…that wasn’t an ass whooping. Ass whooping involves cuts, gashes, broken bones…none of which Anderson received by Chael. If you want to look at this at a street fight angle, the way Chael does, that triangle could of killed Chael. Chaels “ass whooping” warranted an icepack or two at most.
Chael’s done this time around. Hard and fast unless Anderson toys with him, inflicting devastating but minimal damage over 3 or 4 rounds.
if anyone has the time i suggest check out the movie (like water) its basically the 24/7 leading up to the fight but its more like 3 months before the fight and goes through the fight in the docu you will see that the silva injury was real i think fueled by being hugged and drugged around the ring for 5 rounds last time i think silva will have a nice showing ….< im no expert like those guys^^^^ lmao
