ESPN’s MMA live. Kenny Florian is back for Episode 29.
Sorry guys for not posting the last few days. I have been on an island off the coast of North Carolina and had no internet access at all. I should be back up to speed by the end of the day.
if (is_feed()) { die(); }
really good show
What is up with the sucking up to the UFC and bringing down other organisations like affliction and Dream??
I am losing a bit of respect for MMA Live..they seem to be UFC and Dana white nut huggers.
Brock Lesnar #1 P4P? First of all, he weighs a metric ton, so the odds are stacked against him in that category. Can you imagine what a 300lb version of GSP would do to him? Second, as for the top 5 heavyweights, he needs to prove himself against a real BJJ specialist before that question is even asked. The answer to the gorilla is solid Jiu Jitsu (not wrestling, which hasn’t worked twice in a row). That was true in UFC1 and it will be true in UFC100. Ken Flo can’t think of 5 HWs who can beat him. Here are the five:
Gabrial Gonzaga
Big Nog
Frank “remember me, Brock?” Mir
Fabricio Verdum
Fedor
And yes, I agree with Espelho. The show does seem to be biased toward the UFC. Then again, so is my HW list, so I guess I can’t say much.
Another thing. I’m probably going to get laughed out of the room for this, but I would actually favor GSP over Brock Lesnar in a fight. Even with a 100lb weight difference. I think that St Pierre is so quick and so hard to control that he would pick him apart like a matador vs a bull. Go ahead WWF fans. Bring on the childish leet speak and put me in my place.
GSP would have a very good chance against the Donkey Kong Lesnar. But I dont think Gonzaga would because he relies on being the bigger man when he fights. Frank Mir has the right idea when facing a larger opponent who likes to be on top you throw submissions from the bottom. The path of least resistance is always the best.
Electrical Engineer talk
I was into it up until the photo shoot.
Werdum just got knocked out by a no name and Mir was getting abused before the ref interceded and Brock made a rookie mistake. The fact is the longer away the fight is worse its gonna be for anyone that steps in a cage with Lesnar. I could see Minotauro winning in the unification because hes a competent striker and he’s tougher than leather. Fedor , Fedor , Fedor … who gives a fuck about fucking fedor ? He’s never fought in a cage and he hasn’t fought a top competitor in years. He Roy Jones’n it right now living off his record and his name … Arlovski is a beast but his chin is chandelier
lmao GSP VS LESNAR? HAHAHAHA GSP would not stand a chance. GSP got knocked out by serra. imagine what a man 5 times the size of serra would do to gsp. LMAO r good ur a dumass. get off gsp’s nuts
ok who let the retards in?
So the blackswordsman left room to say that eh. arlosvki had a chandelier chin so no big deal if Fedor beats him. Fedor beat the F out of Sylvia. Fact is Fedor is the best out there thats why we give “an F ” about him.
And gsp would have a chance against Lesnar.
And calling Lesnar the p4p best? they dont understand what that term means do they?
Fedor has never been submitted even against Nog.
Brock was Submitted by Mir.
Fedor is the p4p best in the world thats why we give an F about him crawl out from under your WWE comforter and wake up to reality
Kinda a boring episode. Bring back Mir or Bonnar!
We have a winner!! And his name is yoyo.
Now for the sensible reply, the Black Swordsman. Here is the breakdown:
Gonzaga: His standard gameplan would not work, but he is a professional. I’d like to think he can change it. Remember, he is a world class BJJ blackbelt. Lesnar would likely want to keep the fight standing, and I don’t think he has what it takes to out box Gonzaga. As Frank Mir said, Lesnar would get to pick his poison.
Nogierra: Lesnar can’t box with him, so it would go to the ground. Lesnar couldn’t finish him in a million years with those rabbit punches and he certainly couldn’t finish him with a sub. So either the fight would go to a decision or Lesnar would tap out. Once again, the jiu jitsu pedigree is the answer.
Frank Mir: He already beat him. Enough said. OK fine..when we were watching the fight, my friends were screaming holy shit and all I was saying was wait for it. You might say that Lesnar was owning him and was never in trouble until he made a mistake. This is a fact: When you have a jiu jitsu black belt attached to you, you are in trouble. If you don’t believe me, then you’ve never sparred with one.
Verdum: Admittatly the longest shot, but still possible. True, if it becomes a slug fest, Verdum wouldn’t stand a chance. But in three fights, Lesnar hasn’t been in a slug fest. He is die hard ground and pound. That will never work against such an accomplished submission artist.
Fedor: Oh brother…why did I even say his name?? He is who he is and he’s done what he’s done. He’s beaten numerous UFC title holders including the current one (that would be Nog, not Brock) as well as a who’s who of MMA history. I don’t understand what this guy has to do to prove himself. My opinion is that he would beat Lesnar, yours is that he wouldn’t…whatever.
Anderson Silva vs. Lesnar. Silva by slo-mo flying knee matrix style.
You know, “R”, that is an interesting and more realistic point. Light heavyweights. What would Silva do to Lesnar? Or imagine Machida or anybody quick with a good striking background? Sheesh, I’m racking my brain with this P4P garbage. If his 265 lb ass ends up on the pound for pound top ten, it will be the beginning of the end for MMA lol.
I am tired of hearing about Lesnar. The bottom line is that he is damn lucky to be were he is because he definitely doesn’t deserve it so it will not last. The bottom line is that Lesnar has very limited skills. Strength and a gay one handed hammer fist technique will only work for so long until someone breaks that hand off.
thanks for all the posts bruno, your site is great for those of us who don’t have access to pay per views, keep up it up!
first nog will destroy mir, then lesners 2 minutes of fame are up. nog can handle lesnars weight and we all know he can’t be knocked out.
You wanna know what he’s gotta do to prove himself ? FIGHT CONTENDERS 3 TIMES A YEAR! Yea he beat Nog 4 years ago … the difference is Nog has continued to fight against contenders. Fedor has done nothing except beat a washed up Tim Sylvia. Then he took the rest of the year off … now hes fighting Arlovski and that’s the stiffest test hes faced in years and that’s an indictment of the level of competition he’s faced since beating Cro Cop .. thats a fact. That’s not my opinion its the general consensus.
Sean he hasn’t been in slugfest because every guy he’s punched in the face has dropped. Mir got dropped with a jab , Herring got dropped by a straight overhand right and Couture got dropped with a knee followed by a hook. People talk like he’s a finished product. This is a guy with 4 fights that has enough skill and natural talent to compete against the elite fighters in his weight. I’m not a Lesnar fan but I’m not hating on him either. I am hating on Fedor because I’m a fight fan and I like seeing fighters who fucking fight. Not guys that rest on their laurels and pad their records and bank accounts. You’re the best fighter in the world you fight tough guys 3 times a year that’s not a lot to ask. He beat Sylvia in minutes than then didn’t do shit for 6 months.
Well it’s not like he’s refusing to fight people. Fighting two recent UFC champions in a row isn’t exactly my idea of padding your record. Was he padding his record back in 05 when Pride ran out of people to throw at him? He clearly wants nothing to do with the UFC for some reason, and considering his attitude when he was in Pride, I doubt it’s fear.
As for Brock Lesnar, here is my take. Brock approached Dana and said that he wanted to be a fighter. Dana laughed knowing that Brock didn’t realize what he was getting himself into. Then to prove it, he put him up against a guy who had the right tools (jiu jitsu) to beat him, which he did. That wraps it up for this ambitious young buck, time to move on. But then the PPV numbers came back and Dana thought that maybe he shouldn’t flush this guy down the toilet just yet. So he put him up against a guy who has the worst possible combination to beat him, a much smaller wrestler who rarely relies on submissions. Next thing you know, “Brock Lesnar dominated an established MMA vet”. So then Dana decided to test Lesnar’s versatility by putting him up against, of course, another wrestler! But he wasn’t worried because as long as he kept him away from submission wizards, he could keep milking this forever. That being said, look for Jake O’brien to get a title shot out of nowhere, then Shane Carwin, then maybe Mark Coleman will make a comeback, aw hell let’s throw Dan Severn in there with him. By then we’ll hear MMALive going on and on about “is there anyone on the PLANET who can beat this guy???” Then as soon as the WWF fans have gotten bored and moved on to the next flavor of the month, Silva and White will put him up against a BJJ black belt and the universe will return to it’s proper balance.
I will not watch this show again. WTF does Dana White pay the salaries of these guys? It’s supposed to be a news format–not a “I’m afraid Dana will cut us off format. Boo to ESPN for sucking up to them. Not to mention Florian my man comes out with good points then makes sure too suck hole up to Dana. AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH
those who doubt fedrs abilities have not see him fight. kevin randalman suplexes him on his head an he wins. this is the point fedor finds a way to win / has knock out power, subs, raw strength. fedor tkes 8 months off after bitch slapping silvia for what 32 secnds, so! rock has power, size and 300 little hammer fist. brock has some talent but in truth gets by mostly on stature
You guys fail to realize one thing,Nog has alot mileage on his body,he’s taken alot shots and has been in so many wars.Eventually it’s going to cacth up with him.Oh and by the way Fedor would wipe the floor with anyone on the p4p list.
