MMA Fans Ask Tank Abbott About Nickname And Could He Knockout Brock Lesnar.
y ask the ko question tank couldnt even ko kimbo c’mon now
Tank god he stoped fighting
I miss this dude. One of the most humorous guys in the fight world. An Original Gangster of the sport. God bless you tank!!! Luv Ya!!
Lmao, Kimbo slayed you Tanky. Brock, not that I like him, would slay you too!
Tank back in the day might hang, but the tank now (loss to Kimbo?!) would get smashed by Brock via GnP.
Nice hair Tank
F***, he’s deluded.
Funny seeing Tank in a training facility.
He is the guy that got knocked out by Kimbo!!
Tank back in the day? Tank has always sucked. The years have obviously been tough on him too. Why didn’t he just stick to to breaking weightlifting records?
One of my all time favorite fighters. This guy would kick some ass then go to the bar afterwards. He has some of the most viscous knock outs I have ever seen. Look up Tank Abbott Vs. Steve Nelmark. Hey Bruno, you should through up some Tank knockouts so people can see what I am talking about.
Tank is funny…hes messign aorund people, he just doesnt like Brock
Man Tank looks damn old
He is drunk. This is sad.
Tank Abbott wouldn’t even reach lesnar’s face. Lesnar would send his tree of an arm to his abbott even before abbott thought of hitting brock. lol Roy nelson would be the fat man who has a chance to knock out brock. Not tank abbott.
War TANK!!!
Greetings from Tennessee, Bruno. Man, these southern girls…………DAMN!!!!!!
Nascent nailed it on the head. Only I’d venture a guess that Tank was also washing down oxycodone with that booze. Sad beyond words. Like him or not, respect him or not, he was a big name and face for this sport in the beginning. People should have more decency than to film this s***.
Tank Abbott is Chael Sonnens biological father
I always liked Tank. He had awesome KO punching power, and some of his early KOs are still the nastiest in the history of the sport. He never backed down, and he always fought whoever stepped up. Having said that, I am shocked at how old he looks.
Tank would have to KO Lesnar in 10 seconds cuz he would be gassed after that.
At least when tank fought kimbo and got hit he didnt turn around like brock lesnar did and do a balarina act. Tank took kimbo’s punches and threw punches of his own and dropped. Also even now with those small gloves tank could still knock brock lesnar out plus tank looks in decent shape.
tank would destroy lesnar haha, well 15 years ago he would
decent shape? hes NEVER been in any shape. he gassed out on the way to the ring against mir. this guys just a sideshow. tank vs. ferrozo was his last good fight.
Tank Abbott was a favorite of mine as well but he wouldn’t last 1 round with the evolving fighters today even in his prime. He had no ground game or take down defense and his wind was terrible. He never trained cardio and relied on punching power and strength.
A one dimensional freakshow who couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag. I can just imagine the “Richie Cunninghams” he was beating up all over southern Cal.
Tank back in the day, with his boxing skills and heavy hands was a ferocious specimen, he just refused to learn the ground game. He could have been the best. Every fighter feared him years ago because they knew what he was capable of. He’ll always be a street fighter. If you met him in a bar and you were looking for trouble, you’d have a fight on your hands with Tank.
He’s a legend – Every pro fighter knows who he is, because they grew up watching him.
War Tank, Still think you can take many out before you give it up.
Tank very well could KO Brock. He has the most vicious hands of anyone to ever fight in the UFC. If you haven’t seen Tank vs Cabbage you should watch it. Cabbage can’t be KOed. Tank broke his jaw. However if Tank can’t KO his opponent within 20 seconds, its over.
@123 – You got the order wrong, he went to the bar and then he came to the fight.
Abbott is one of my timers, biker, bar-brawling, fearless, vale-tudo fighter. Was never really good, but you can’t see anyone so fearless. He would take fights with less than a week’s notice, get drunk for three days in a row, show up to the fight, knock the other guy out, go back to the bar and spend all his earnings.
Met many “Tank Abbott”s back in the day, but this one is the funniest and most fearless of all. He wouldn’t be any threat to Brock in any part of his life, though. Brock would just shoot and smash him. I know other brawlers that would make Brock earn it, though. Tank never learn the ground game because he was never able to stand up once he hit the ground.
Tank’s old school – a FIGHTER, not a “competitor”. These new rules aren’t built for guys like Tank. I miss the old days a lot. Real fighting, true MMA. That being said, Brock would likely maul Tank, then or now. Just like Severn did in the Ultimate Ultimate 95, he’d take him down and ride him and punish him.
Everyone talking about tank being a beast back in the day. I remember him getting KO’d in ten seconds against Belfort and Mir making him tap almost as quick. And like everyone else said he got smashed by Kimbo, enough said.
Tank took a dive in the Kimbo fight. I thought that was common knowledge.
Tank wouldn’t be someone you would want to get into a barroom brawl with, but, in a UFC fight with rules, Brock could just stand there for a round and Tank would gas.
Outside of the octagon, Brock would have Sable as a distraction and a steel chair, so, I still gotta give it to Brock.
Tank is the 1st MMA fighter i’ve ever seen.I dont remember the guy he fought but he simply clinched him gave him 3-4 dirty boxing hooks and the guy dropped with his legs bent sideways in a weird position like he was dead so yeah he could KO brock with 1 lucky punch but its like saying James Toney had a chance vs Randy Couture.strikers with no footwork, kicks or speed have 0,001% chance of wrestlers the caliber and size of brock Lesnar or Randy Couture. Some Tae Kwan Doe or Kung Fu fan disagree but if you fight a grappler with decent skills(dont even have to be 20% of the skills of Randy Couture)you will subbed even if you have a black belt in kung fu TKD karate etc if you never grappled in your life.Grappling is the best 1vs1 self defense nobody can argue with that.
He beat John Matua who use ku e ah lua the ancient Hawiian art of bone breaking. Made him go stiff.
@RuttenJump – that’s actually a fallacy. The truth is that neither grappling nor striking is superior to the other in any way. They are different beast and, per se, don’t influence the outcome of the fight.
What creates the misconception that grappling is better is the training styles that existed for almost a century (and still exist today).
That’s where Gracie jiujitsu and basic street brawling made a huge difference in the last 3 decades. A lot to be thanked to Bruce Lee (as a philosopher and developer of martial arts, not as an actor), too.
It’s the practical fighting experience that makes the difference. If you only train grappling as sport and not self-defense, you will have the same problems that most strikers have, because they don’t know how a real fight happens. It’s a complete different beast than a sports competition. With few exceptions, most martial arts were almost forgetful about actual kumite practice. Karate schools were teaching dance moves, Krav Maga’ taught only techniques without the option of testing (too lethal, they said), Aikido had only choreographed moves, even Judo and jiu-jitsu got too caught in the money-making sports (with colorful belts) routine. Only wrestling, Gracie jiu-jitsu and muy-thai had some better real pain practie although all were limited. However, because they already included real sparring with fewer rules and stoppages, they got the upper hand in mix martial arts.
Thanks to vale tudo, and the vision of the Gracies to say that you can only learn to fight by getting your ass kicked on a daily basis, things started changing.
Now, even athletes are developing fight-oriented techniques instead of the dance-by-the-rule b.s.
MMA fighters are better prepared now for real fighting situations than most martial artists of the past, but they still would be surprised by a kick to the groin and an eye poke or bite. Try to sub a guy who can smash your balls, bite your arms, crush your fingers, and stick a finger in your eye.
A titty-twister can be a very effective way to scape some chokes. ![]()
