K-1 Rising 2001 Kickboxing video of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Tatsufumi Tomihira. This bout took place on Jan 30th 2001 in Matsuyama, Japan.

UFC Georges St Pierre Mouse Pad
mirko was a BEAST back then
after that knee to the head you can tell Cro Cop’s goal was to just punish Tomihira.
Cro cop got exposed int he UFC
When Cro Cop was the Alpha aggressor -he was the beast who destroyed.
When Cro Cop entered the UFC he was stalked…the Beast was no longer the Alpha Beast.
Great Bruno!!!

Ref- are you going to hit him?
Jap- (shakes head no)
Ref- ok go get hit
Jap- (shakes head yes)
wooow micro kicks harder than a freaking horse
I love mirko, the reason why he kicks so hard is flexibility, someone who has worked on their flexibility can raise there leg up quicker and with more snap then someone trying to force a headkick.
Does that chick ever say anything, or does she just groan and scream?
If it’s 2001…why does it say 99′??? Great fight.
mirko-shii-waaaa!!!
Yes Mirko was one of the best fighters. Now he is still dangerous but he don’t throw so many punches like he used to do.
mma guy i bet it had more to do with his age and being out of his prime rather than him not being the alpha aggressor

I was drinking lemonade while watching this, until I saw the first head kick and spilt my drink everywhere. Man Cro cop can punish people lol!
Thank you Mr. Bruno.
lol @ lol!!
Man, where did all that speed go!? Look how patient he was back then! Content the hammer around with the leg kicks and jabs until the opponent is softened up enough to go in the for the kill. Cro-Cop got too comfortable with the easy lead leg head kick ko. I miss Cro-Cop back before he was a household name…
Got to give it to that guy for man’ng up and staying in there…
dilleywilley,
Agreed, but he seemed to be too tentative in the UFC. Perhaps father time took its toll.
okay MMA guy, theres a big difference between Cro Cop ten years ago and Cro Cop now.
Incredible amounts of Doom have come from the hands and feet of cro cop, dont watch his highlight reels watch all his fights in his day he was pretty f****** scary.
He was still one of the most entertaining fighters I’ve seen. Him and Wandy are legends imo, they’re heading downhill unfortunately, but we all take that plunge someday..
Wow. I guess a decade can really take it outta you.
Good Old Days…………
His right kicks are devastating also! Too bad he doesn’t use them for MMA.
WOW i have never seen this one. WOW Cro Cop looked so good. Totally different now. He was checking those kicks SOOO WELL! BRUTAL KICKS. Japanese guys had heart though.
Mirko is the man!! he is a legend!
Sure wish he still had that speed today
Crocop used more highkicks in the first round of this fight than in his entire UFC career.
Definetively not the same fighter.
People cant compare an mma fight with the k-1 event, two diffrent worlds.
The jap took the beating like a man. Cro Cop is legendary, but he alwys had trouble when facing Ernesto Hoost.
Nice Video, this site is the source.
Those kicks were CRISP!
Shame they have slowed a little with age..
I remember Mirko coming to train at a gym I was at.
He put a Duran Duran CD on.
Guess what song.
Wild Boys.
He forgot his CD at the gym.
I was looking to see what music I would play, then I saw Mirko’s CD in the machine.
I laughed to myself, hahaha, that was Mirko Filipovic Crocop’s actual CD, with the entrance song I was so accustomed to.
The guy I marveled at in K-1, and the entrance song I liked.
I used to hussle to get bootleg VHS videos to watch him and all the other K-1 and Pride fighters.
I wanted to take that CD and keep it.
But I didn’t.
I also remember how I was nervous once when Mirko was training in the ring. I was the only other fighter in the gym. There were only 3 people in the gym, Mirko in the ring moving around, the coach by the radio, and I on the floor moving around. I was hoping I would not be invited to move around with Mirko. I missed what Mirko and the coach said but they wee joking and talking to me but I couldn’t hear it clearly, seemed like the topic was sparring, I can’t remember clearly. I was just like, huh, okay, hahaha. Mirko was telling me about the knicknames for his left kick and left cross, one was “death” and the other was “hospital”. hahaha, very funny. No thanks.
these 2 are clearly on different levels of fighting. those are going to be some excellent bruises over the next few days.
That guy is lucky he wasn’t seriously hurt from those kicks. I really think Mirco never got used to the Octogan as opposed to the ring. I think it made him hesitant. You can see it in his face. I have always thought him and Fedor even before they became household names were the best
