“Once Kongo figures out how to back up Cro-Cop the fight turns to Kongo.”

I think by that you mean “once Kongo knees Crocop in the nuts 3 times, the fight turns to Kongo.” Hats off to Crocop for taking that fight the distance despite multiple unpenalized cheap shots. The UFC should be ashamed of this one.

Kongo had that fight won either way…Crocop came out in the 2nd tentitive and started getting backed up. Anyone that has seen him fight knows that Crocop isn’t good when someone puts pressure on him. Crocop is one of my favorite fighters but it didn’t suprise me that he was outstruck by Kongo.

Anyone else notice the avaliable triangle at the end of round one? All Crocop needed to do was pull his left foot into the crook of his right knee: good night Kongo. Nothin’ doin’, though.

A more experienced grappler might have been able to close that triangle off. I think it would have taken some really quick thinking or a grapplers instinct.

Bob, that’s my point. I would be tentative too if I just got kneed in the nads. Kongo should have been DQ’d after he deliberately kneed him again after big John tried to break them up.

Mirko has stated that he sustained a broken rib in the second round, thus providing a logical explanation for his loss.

Kongo should have been DQ but at the least should have a PT deducted…C’mon!

I agree that kongo should have been DQ’d because he kneed cro cop right on the mark even after big john asked for the stop. Cro Cop looked good in the first round and looked good in the mount position but in the 2nd round he just counter punched and looked one dimensional, on the other hand kongo never really had cro cop in any real danger so cro cop shouldn’t take the loss too hard. would have been nice if cro cop could avenge his loss to minotauro before his deal expires because minotauro bores the hell outta me.

Crocop was losing in the 2nd before the shots to the balls. He came out of the first round tentitive!! Crocop was actually running away from Hunt the whole fight. And let’s not take anything away from Kongo, he is a multiple Muay Thai champion and anyone that has seen him fight before on his feet shouldn’t be suprised he won. Especially with Mirkos kickboxing-only style, meaning he doesn’t use knees, clinch, or elbows it was a receipe for him to lose, as good as he is with his feet. Mirko wouldn’t be making excuses why he lost so why is everyone else?

Look, all I’m saying is that Crocop didn’t stand a chance after the knees. True, he had a few hiccups early in round 2, but that doesn’t mean he was losing the fight. Look at the Crocop/Herring fight in Pride. That’s proof to me that Crocop can back up and still win a fight. Also true that he won’t make excuses because he is a warrior. That’s why he’s on TV making the big bucks and I’m sitting at my computer. The fact is what it is though. You can’t win a fight after getting kicked like that multiple times. You just can’t. To ask a fighter if he wants to continue is a stupid question. The top fighters in Pride/UFC/Bodog will never give up. I’ve seen people choose to continue after shots to the groin, elbows to the back of the head, even broken arms. They simply don’t give up. They keep fighting until they are told to stop. Mirko needed to be told to stop after that. As decorated a striker as Kongo is, he knows where his knees are going. If nothing else, I’m saying that the current method of dealing with cheap shots like that is flawed. If a fighter gets rocked by an illegal move, the fight should automatically be no contest if unintentional and DQ if it is. Neither fighter should have any say in the matter.
