Mike brown has little stand-up instinct or skill. He through 1-2’s and walked into Faber’s disabled strikes. It’s not just a speed issue, he could have thrown a couple fakes and caught Faber in the later rounds. He’s a great grappler though. Not the future of that division for sure. In 2 years he’ll be the division’s gatekeeper. Faber was amazing…Fighting with a broken hand is such a bummer. Aldo seems unstoppable, fast-twitch freak who ALWAYS capitalizes on openings. He will be the featherwiegiht champion if WEC allows it.

He caught Faber in the first fight when Faber tried to get creative and got lucky on this fight. Look at their faces at the end… it is obvious who got their ass kicked.

Its amzing to me how this fight unfolded with faber unable to use either of his hands… Brown still could’nt finish him… Amazing fight… Rubber match faber wins… Theres no doubt in my mind now… Brown knew he performed poorly, and was just happy to get out with a win… This has to end in a trilogy… This fight proved nothing to me… I believe they’ll fight again at some point…

MMA scoring needs to change. Takedowns for the sake of putting a person on their but and doing absolutely no damage should not be worth much of anything. Most of the time the takedowns are intended for slowing the fight down unless you have a fighter that has several submission moves; otherwise, it’s just plain boring and usually amounts to a stall. If you take someone down with a slam, I give you that. Making them off balance and laying on them or when the person escapes quickly or puts a submission move on you after the takedown should nullify anything worth scoring. I hate TAKEDOWN do nothing points. Change the scoring rules! No damage, no action NO POINTS!
Faber had Brown’s number – Brown is tough, but got lucky on this one. Broken hands was the fight and BS takedown scoring. Faber was faster and put his ass on the canvas. Close fight.

I can only imagine what an awesome (or more awesome) fight that would have been if Faber hadn’t broken his hand. He has a huge set of cojones though, fighting thru it and throwing those crazy elbows and anything else he could. Brown was a bit less impressive this time around, but he still took the win against a top notch fighter, so props to him as well.

This was a good fight, too bad for Faber that he broke his hand the outcome could have been different.
In the first fight Faber took chances because he looked desperate as he was being manhandled by Brown. In this fight Brown looked slower and Faber looked more determined between the two.
It’s hard to say the outcome would have been different, but I personally think Brown would have lost. The punch that broke Faber’s hand clearly stunned Brown and it would have been interesting to see how it would have played out otherwise.
Either way I’m looking forward to a third fight, these guys match up well against each other.
Aldo is definitely the other guy in the mix here and could be a serious war between him and Brown. I’m looking forward to seeing that fight as well.

Faber surprised me honestly. I’ve always said his speed and wrestling ability are his only weapons and that his striking is more bark than bite but he showed a lot of heart by hanging in there, and not getting put away by a game ass fighter. But it is what it is and I’m glad, I’d hate seeing Faber as the champ again. Browns wins are usually much more entertaining than Fabers. The way Brown beat the piss out of Garcia was amazing and you’ll never see a performance like that from Faber. Most Faber fans are sold by the name, not the content.

FYI- To all the faber “broken hand apologists”. In the first fight Brown had already had 3 of his ribs broken, yet was still able to knock him out and finish him with the ground and pound. I also beleive that without all the grease in fabers cornrows, Brown would have probably submitted him several times.

Yeah, you’re right. All those combos that somehow couldn’t put a washed up Jens pulver away and breaking his hand hitting someone in the top of the head means he’s a good striker. Getting a guillotine on an even more washed up pulver means he’s got submissions too. I’ve never seen Faber stall for a decision or lay on someone who was too gassed to fight back and just lightly tap them til the ref steps in. Faber is a great fighter, but Brown is a world class warrior and exemplary sportsman and won the title defense regardless the dispute. Urijah didn’t break his hand – BROWN broke Urijah’s hand with his granite frontal bone, walking thru Faber’s best punches while keeping him under pressure and scoring takedowns for five rounds. Had Urijah, who obviously was skeptical to mingle with Brown’s prowess, not broken his hand – been much more susceptible to Brown’s nasty left hook and right overhand bomb. For those that disagree, do some boxing research and find how many world class boxing champs have fought more than 4 rounds with broken metacarpals and still won. Same truth applies to MMA fighters. People don’t like to swallow the truth, but there’s a new champ in town now kemosabes. That means Urijah is 0-2 with MTB.

hell of a fight i love faber but he did lose this fight. true he broke his hand, but i think its unfair to say he would have destroyed brown if he hadnt. maybe if he hadnt broke it he would have done some more stupid ninja shit and got caught again … i feel he could def be the better fighter, he just has to be patient. i wont make any excuses for his two losses to brown cause he did lose. but that said: i still beleive he is the most talented fighter at 145 but brown is the best right now cause of his maturity.
