I kind of don’t like antics, but Sudo is just a showman. He’s one of the most entertaining fighters I’ve ever seen. I think that because he has skill and technique, it helps with his creativity.
For all the distractions he runs, he was a good wrestler and utilized good judo. He also has a good submission arsenal. Too bad he retired. It was always fun to watch him fight.
I wish genki never would of retired
Genki Sudo was the man. I hope he comes out of retirement soon
Genki sudo will always be one of my favorite fighters ever. He was an artist. watching him fight was watching a combination of dancing, and bullfighting. it was pure self expression. I miss him!
Genki truly is an amazing human being. Watch his documentary, its brilliant. He puts on a great show every time and his entrances are amazing.
Pure legend. fight anyone any weight at anything. go to youtube and watch the highlight reel its the one with limpbizkit in the back ground its unbeleivable!!!!!!!!!! doubt we’l ever see the likes of him again.
oh genki sudo. what an entertainer. what else can be said about him. i wonder why he retired. anybody know?
What the hell was that at the end? lol
God I miss Genki.
Genki Sudo rules. Must find this full fight. I don’t know Brown well but am looking forward to see him fight Faber tomorrow.
He retired to be a full time entertainer.. stop it you guys… your acting like Sudo died or something.” oh Genki i miss you so much” come one now!!!!!!!!
In the documentary which you can also find on youtube he says that even though he was at the top he still didn’t feel complete.
He says that he’s done fighting against people in the 3rd dimension (ie fighting opponents in the ring) but continues his fight in the 4th dimension (for the peoples thought and spirits ie his “we are all one” mantra).
I’m not doing the documentary justice and these are my words to describe what he tried to explain.
I feel bad for only finding out about this great fighter and individual recently.
what happened in the missing 30 secs. ??? how did he get him in that armbar??
dude is one bad ass mofo.
listen ‘vitor fan’ we aint actin like he died but he made such an impression an was so different if you dont think so then dont post. i’m a ground n pound man my self but this guy was somethin else. vitor couldn’t put him away in sub fightin an was nearly 3 stone heavier!!!!!
Does anyone know his record when he retired? As far as I remember, I never saw he guy losing, but I know he did.
I know he lost to Kid Yamamoto, but it was a somewhat questionable stoppage.
Thanks MMATKO !!
This vid got me back into what MMA is all about.
After reading a few of the comments above, i took the time to check out the Doco’s on Genki & now i remember why i was so impressed the first time i witnessed his magic in the cage vs Brown(UFC 47) …………………………………….and, ESPECIALLY, the fight against Dywane ‘Bang’ Ludwig!! (UFC 42) And we all know it changed the restart position as we know it, today!
Genki Sudo is the modern day version of ‘Bruce Lee’ when it comes to his thoughts on MMA/FIGHTING/LIFE.
WE ARE ALL ONE!
NB: here’s the link if you need to know more about his fighting record.
