after watching the lat round for the third round it is obvious that cotto wanted to quit after the first knock down but bayless was looking at margarito when cotto shook his head “no”. then bayless gave him the standing 8. then cotto nodded yes to “are you ok”. margarito landed some patially blocked shots then bayless seperates them as cotto is backing away he is only looking at bayless. margarito throws a couple of punches which cotto slips but then takes a knee on his own with no punch landing and looks at the ref

So many of you are idiots, honest to God. Cotto is a MUCH better boxer. He simply dominated the fight for the first 6 rounds. Don’t jump on the Margarito ban-wagon ok kiddies? Margarito was simply better conditioned then Cotto. He was embarrassed rounds 1-6, however, Cotto ran out of steam. I was pulling for Cotto slightly, but enjoyed the fight nonetheless. Cotto is a superior boxer, but if he’s to get into the ring again he NEEDS to address his conditioning issue(s). Margarito has proven he’s got a granite chin and is as well conditioned as any fighter. Mayweather Margarito would be the same as Cotto Margarito, except Mayweather would NEVER run out of steam. Mayweather also has better defense when he’s up against the ropes. I think Cotto Mayweather would be a more competitive fight, but I still think Mayweather is the P4P welterweight champ. Maybe he did dodge, maybe he really just wanted a vacation.

what cotto’s mistake was that he ran, and than planted. what he should’ve done is back peddle while still throwing jabz, and eventually when he’d hit the rope he was connecting on that already. What that would’ve done is atleast neutralize the forward progress of margatita.
