Nothing like a good fight, we love to fight fair, but will get you anyway. Cotto showed the heart that the Americans saw when 1918 came around. We also showed the same heart in WW11 and In Korea, yet we are still waiting for our recognization for those fights. We are still owed Purle Hearts by the dozens for those we sacrificed in those fights. We will get that whcih is ours even with the racism clouding our heroism. Ahhh! Come on! Im Mexican and I’m glad they stopped the fight, Margarito could have lost his vision in the right eye and not fight again.

He fought coming out of a surgery from that same eye!!!

Just watched the full fight again. This is perhaps the worst stoppage I’ve ever witnessed in my 30+ years of watching fights.

Yes, the right eye was gone, but Marg was more than willing to fight and wasn’t hurt to the point of being unable to fight. Not once did we ever see any body language from Marg that would suggest that the fight should be stopped. There are hundreds of other fights where an opponent had a swollen shut eye, but because of effective boxing skills, the fight was allowed to continue on.

Bruno, you tell me….since when does “a punchers chance” not apply? Marg was absolutely in the fight, not once ever rocked or hurt. He never once lost his balance or looked like he was wobbled or injured to the point of losing his balance or coordination. If you’re not being “rocked”, then you should always have the opportunity to continue. Am I wrong?

IMO the only reason why Margarito’s punches weren’t “effective” is because he wasn’t able to clearly land as many as he did in the first fight which was due to Cotto’s footwork and ring generalship. Cotto simply boxed more effectively, clinched, applied more ring generalship and paced himself compared to the first fight.

With or without plaster, Marga still has the power to hurt Cotto and was hurting Cotto. Just because Cotto’s face wasn’t as busted up as the first doesn’t mean that he wasn’t getting hurt.

I’m glad that Cotto won, but I wish it went the full twelve as both were able to continue.

Awesome fight. I thought it was an appropriate stoppage, although it looked as though antonio was begining too wear cotto down. I’d like to see a third fight.

The stoppage was not early! His eye was completely shut! I was rooting for Margaritto, but when you see someone getting hit repeatedly on the same spot where it already has been damaged before it should not continue. The fight was great! Quit it with this “Now We Know He Was Cheating!” bullcaca! Cotto was smart and kept away from the ropes in this fight compared to the last fight. He Avoided A Lot More Shots! Learn to observe fights people. This is why Cotto Outboxed Margaritto. Props to both fighters though. No Hugging and Kept Swinging! Great Fight!
