Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia Added To The UFC on Fox 2 Main Card

UFC officials announced that the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale coaches bout, Michael Bisping (22-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC), will take on middleweight contender Demian Maia (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) at the FOX televised event.

Michael Bisping will have less than two months between fights to be ready for Demian Maia. He came out of the Mayhem Miller Fight with hardly a scratch so it should not be a big problem.

UFC on FOX 2 card so far includes:

MAIN CARD (FOX)

Phil Davis vs. Rashad Evans
Mark Munoz vs. Chael Sonnen
Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia

PRELIMINARY CARD

Demetrious Johnson vs. Eddie Wineland
Evan Dunham vs. Paul Sass
Michael Johnson vs. Cody McKenzie
George Roop vs. Cub Swanson
Jon Olav Einemo vs. Mike Russow
Charles Oliveira vs. Eric Wisely*

This whole card is bullshit! Bc Chael dosent have to fight anyone else but Silva for the title. Than Bisping and Maja is bullshit as well Bisping has won 4 in a road Maja only 1, makes no sense. I think Rashad should fight next for the title in feb or something. But stil they all are good fights!

It’s obvious with this card that they want fights that are going to last a bit longer than JDS vs. Velasquez.

Chael Sonnen is so much more fun to watch when he dislikes his opponent. Same with the other two fighters. I see a few yawns with this card.

I think these are risky fights to put on the Fox broadcast. They could turn out great but could also definitely be very slow paced fights, which isn’t going to help pull new fans in off cable…

Sonnen, although I think stylistically Munoz is a very tough match up for Sonnen – as good, if not better wrestling than himself, and true KO power!

Bisping shows continuously he has great take down and ground game defense and beats guys up on the feet – I see this one going that way too!

All of three of these fights have strikers and all six of the fighters are going to get great bonuses for making sure its not a wrestling match. Also 5 out of the 6 are in the top 5 of their weight class, Maias not and it might be pushing it with Davis but hes solid.

I think its a sick card and the UFC improved the layout of the fox cards since the JDS/Cain fight.

they are trying to avoid a bloody war like the hendo and shogun fight to attract “new non ufc fans” like dana would say. so they put technical fighters in a wrestler vs wrestler and bisping and a bjj expert. all adding up to have a real good chance to be a slow boring technical fight =/.

Dan Blankenship, Sonnen was respectful to Stann but put a clinic on him. I see a tough night for Munoz in his future. He generally only does well when he can take his opponent down. I know MMA-math doesn’t always work out, but Munoz showed a lot of holes in his game in the Okami fight. Davis will not get an upset… Rashad is a much more complete fighter than him. Bisping should have NO problems with Maia.

If all the favourites win, then Sonnen is #1 contender, Bisping is #2 and Rashad becomes #1 LHW contender. I liked Rashad’s attitude (and Sonnen’s) that if they cannot beat another challenger, then they should not fight for the title. Rashad learned from his previous mistake (when he sat out after the Thiago Silva fight to play it safe, then got injured).

This is MMA there is never any certain wins, you gotta understand this is still a young sport believe it or not the competition is still growing because of the fact so many martial arts need to be learned in Mixed Martial Arts, and the big fighters need their rest were all human!.

Experience doesnt cancel out an opponent in MMA, i could see Munoz or Davis winnning & Maia CAN submit Bisping!… People need to learn their sport before you speak ignorance, i swear SOMETIMES my fellow americans embarASS the crap out of me…

My prediction:

Munoz-Davis-Maia.

Chael will get a beating form the philipin, i dont see what people see in Rashad’s skills … and Maia will win by decision or put a sick sub on Bisping.

Sonnen v. Munoz is a very interesting fight. Sonnen is, of course, the better wrestler and absolutely relentless just like Guida. He actually is better at being Guida than Guida.
Munoz has had cardio problems before and, if he doesn’t come at the very top of his game, he will be worked. However, Munoz might have just enough TD defense to frustrate Sonnen while creating openings to hit him with one of those big bombs.
Bisping should outpoint Maia as Maia’s TDs suck. If he can take the fight down, then he has a good chance, but I can’t see Maia taking Bisping down. He could try one of those flying triangles that he completely forgot since Marquardt KOed him with one punch.

Sorry Maia is a nice guy but he should stick to bjj. Seems like a set up win for Bisbing, since he has great take down defense and Maia’s striking is mediocre at best
