Awesome by Bisping… bisping looks right off to be a contender at 185. I can almost see him being able to strike with the top dogs Rich and Anderson at that weight. Good stuff.

This is exactly how I saw the fight going down. McCarthy’s stand-up is awful. The fact that he won’t stand in the pocket and trade makes him target practice for his opponent. And so much for ending the fight in a minute once it hit the ground. He’s finished in the UFC.
Bisping looks fantastic. He’ll be given a contender now.

Seems like he had a problem in his arm , but other than that , he wasnt taking any damage from bispings knees or punches , yes bisping throwed a barrage of punches , but no one affected charles mccarthy.

Charlessss, I’m not sure whether your reply was sarcasm or not. McCarthy has given no indication of threatening anyone. He submitted Gideon Ray — a guy with no ground game and a winless record in the UFC. McCarthy, in my opinion, has the worst standup in the middleweight division. All of the contenders have enough jiu jitsu to hang with him.
He doesn’t look like he trains very hard either. And yes, the knees weren’t landing flush, but his arms were absorbing all of the impact. He knew if he were to come out for the second round, it was gonna be a beatdown.

Bisping is a definatly decent fighter, how anyone can claim that he is crap after making Rashad Evans look pretty average is beyond me.
However I do think that Bisping needs to sort out his punching power, if he could start to throw some bombs he would definatly be worthy of a title shot.
I think the Brits have done very well in MMA considering that most Americans and Brazillians have done either wrestling or BJJ from a very early age, sports that until recently have had little or no presence in the UK and have an enormous impact on the quality of fighters.

Nothing is quite as satisfying as seeing a guy who drops his hands and taunts in the middle of the fight get beat down. His turtle defense was effective (no damage…for a while…) but embarassing. If he’d showed some class though he might not look like such an idiot in losing.

I think they really need to rethink what an intelligant defense is, just cause yours hands are up doesnt meen that your inteligently defending yourself, your just keeping yourself from being knocked out cold.Your still taking all of the impact of thoses blows and your not going to be in any condition to fight afterwards. I’m an American with mostly British ancestry and I have nothing against the Brit’s, but I can’t stand Bitchping. He talks way too much trash and still hasn’t backed it up in my book. I know that Brit’s are tough too, but he just doesn’t impress me. I think he dropped weight class, because he fears Hammill and Evans. I’ll concede that he looks better at 185, but I want to see him take on the top guys before I’ll start to think any different about him.
