Not so sure I agree with a stoppage due to a self-inflicted wound. If you strike an opponent and the result is YOUR broken hand, leg, etc, then you are toasted. Find a better way to strike, IMO. But I also understand the need to protect the fighters…*yawn*

Hmmm… I don’t know. He did do it to himself, but then again so did Corey Hill who broke his leg from a checked kick. I think it looks bad enough to justify a stoppage. It’s safer this way for infections that can go on for months.

@kidfrosty: You got it wrong. The fight was stopped because both fighters were hurt and couldn’t continue. Both of them wanted to continue, but that crater in hist leg wasn’t going to get any smaller if they did.

It’s a TKO if the stoppage is due to injuries sustained from strikes during the fight, regardless if the fighter claims they can continue, and Manhoef’s injury was enough to warrant a stoppage, hence Manhoef did not want to be counted out by TKO.
The question is was Yoshiyuki’s injury enough to warrant him being stopped.
