My alltime favourite fighter along with Wandy, I hope he fully recovers and gets healthy soon. A healthy Shogun is like no other fighter, I miss the devastating carnage he brings into the ring.

there is a skill in stomping and the chute box camp trains to refine this skill, and thats why they were the only ones to use the stomp and soccer kick effectively, well and i saw cro cop use it once, but various kicks are as much a skill as any punch.

I am a devoted UFC fan, and have been since day 1. I’ll have to admit that i do miss the Pride Days, and wish there was some other orginaization that could match what Pride “had” back in the day…Word!…. It seems that theres something missing in MMA and i do think its the brutality of the head stomps and knees to the head…
I wonder if Dream can make the same impact, probaby not, but we can hope theres something that offers what the UFC is doing for the MMA world right now.

Anyone can stomp on someone’s face and knock them out. There’s no skill in that. Shogun is gonna get rocked by liddel. His performance against coleman in the UFC was piss poor. If you can’t knock out a guy in his mid 40s with his arms at his waist in the first round well, you don’t belong in the UFC.

You can train to get better at stomps and kicks this is what made shogun so brutal in pride no one else stomped on your face like he did. so obviously if there is varying levels face stomp/kicks skill demonstrated in pride it TAKES skill allow it in the UFC plz

No, footstomps an soccer kicks are whack.
Legs are 10x more porwerful then arms.
No matter how big the persons arms are.
You legs carry your weight, aswell as your arm weight.
Having someone jump in the air an come down with all there body weight in a leg is not skill.
It may be realistic.
But if i was street fighting, i wouldnt stomp someones face.
Imagine how bad that could affect someone.
Crushing there cheek bones, the bone above there eyebrow, there jaw.
there’s numerous ways a fighter could get hurt an be out of action for awhile.
Plus, i dont think Rua is all that good.
Every fight ive watched he takes a fair amount of an ass whooping, an then gets foot stomps in or soccer kicks an the fights done with.
Plus, his fight with coleman, he seemed to be fighting as if he was older then coleman.

The only time I ever rooted for Shogun was when he had the opportunity to avenge Wanderlei after he lost to Ricardo Arona. Where as he did have a highly regarded record/winning streak in Pride, and where I don’t agree that UFC rules promote *skill* any more then the other organizations, some fighters are willing to do anything to win, and some care about whether their opponent dies in the ring. Shogun isnt the classiest fighter, nor do I consider him top tier. This match shows me how many weaknesses Cyrille had, mainly being taken down defense. Chuck Liddell, he doesnt get taken down. So unless Shogun wants/is able to outstrike Liddell, which might be possible considering the age factor.. haha… he’s gonna be in a rough fight, especially if it makes it past round 2 and his tank empties. I’m rooting for Liddell.

Idiots saying stomps and downed kicks are for pussies. Christ throwning a short glancing elbow from the guard has FAR less skill than working a stomp or a soccer kick on a moving target. Stomps and soccers finish fights. Its nothing like kicking someone as one would when they are unconsious in a street brawl, it’s about finishing a fight.
Stomps and soccers are legitamate and worthy MMA techniques. f****** UFC dont even allow knees to the head of a grounded opponent. From the guy underneath either! A person is under side control and they can’t knee!! A fighter has a guy in his guard and he can’t kick to the face unless they stand up!! Pathetic. It’s all there to allow US wreslters to gain dominance. Take a person down and grind short elbows from the guard – modus operandi. The UFC rules need a serious overhaul.
