there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that st. pierre would dominate this fight. his first fight with serra, he wasn’t in the right state of mind. but he’s just in a place in his mind now where nobody can beat him and it shows from this fight and his last fight with matt hughes especially. what’s next for GSP though? a rubber match with Serra? i don’t think Serra or anybody else in that division as a matter of fact can even come close to competing with GSP. we’ll just have to wait and find out

GSP, devasted Serra with those knees looked a little like Pride, but without the knees to the head. That’s hardly used in the UFC, but now a new outlook on the ground game that everyone is going to start implementing especially after this fight. Good fight props to Serra.

Also, Serra didnt tap, and i was pissed to see the fight stop there.
those knees were not affecting serra at all, he said so in the post fight coverage, and i am a damn big GSP fan.
Serra gained some respect in his ass kicking, and the fight should have continued, GSP had a better strategy above all else

It was a long road with a couple unexpected twists, but there you have it folks. He worked his ass off for that belt. I really like the combo GSP threw in round 1 on the ground, left, right, knee to the anus. Looked like it hurt like hell. Bet Matts ribs are fucked up bad. I agree Hughes vs Serra should be next, though it will be a boring fight, they were supposed to fight a long time ago. GSP will hold that belt for a long time as long as he keeps his head right. I’m kind of smelling sour grapes here. GSP dominated completely. Both standing and on the ground. However we also saw great skills in ground defense by Sera. Not everyone can escape GSP after giving his back to him like that. I also think Sera was kinda hoping to get a lucky haymaker like on the first fight. If you look at how he handled himself while standing up, it was about it. No combinations, aweful leg work and some give it all punches.

Ok here we go, the excuses:
1. GSP was on steroids, how could Serra win against a CHEATER!? Please, if you know what to look for you can tell who is on steroids generally, and GSP’s lean physique is normal for a trained athlete. Compare him to the bulky Sean Sherk, and you’ll see what I mean. And remember, all these guys are tested, period.
2. GSP was afraid of Serra’s dominant standup! If he had traded on his feet, he would have LOST!
Wrong, the truth is that Serra is actually better on the ground (he is a Blackbelt in Gracie BJJ) but he could do nothing on the ground, either.
The truth is that GSP was simply telling the truth when he said his head was not in the last fight. He held off to be gracious, but later told the truth: His Dad was very ill with a brain disease that the Doctors could not treat, and his cousin had died in a car crash–he took a fight with Serra he shouldn’t have (few would have considering his personal situation) and got caught with a lucky punch.
Serra had his 15 minutes of fame, and we can congratulate him on that, but it is now over. He will continue to compete but at a much lower level from here on. He will fight Hughes and lose, then sink to his true level somewhere at the bottom of the pack.

Secondly i am a fan of both GSP and Serra. But Serra has never been good in the ring / cage, he should stick to coaching and sport BJJ ( Gi or No-Gi ). This was pretty much what i expected the outcome of the match would be… GSP is proplerly the second best all-round fighter in mma today, next to Silva.
You don´t need to be big to “juice” up. the boys in the Tour-De-France are NOT big! but they are ALL juiced up!
GSP has looked freakish in his last 3 fights now. Hughes, Koscheck and now Serra??? Maybe even earlier??? There is just something weird there???… His strengt and conditioning? it seems off??? Still roids don´t win the fight alone, but it does give you a head start to the other guy!

I am a huge GSP and MMA fan but it’s hilarious to me that so many naive assclowns out their actually believe there are no fixed fights in MMA. This fight was an obvious example. Wake up. They were already hyping GSP VS. SERRA 3 before the fight even started. If Serra won this bout there would be no rubber match and no enormous paycheck. Look at Serra’s intensity in their first match and look at it this one. He didn’t even show up. It’s is a business. This would also mean that they’d want to make it exciting in order to further the sport and get more fans. This fight was far from exciting. Lot of people are saying that GSP took it to the groung cauz he was afraid of Serra´s hands… First off… how many people in his life has Serra knocked out, only GSP, so to say that he has ¨heavy¨ hands is out of place, he just got GSP on the right spot in the first fight(it was a ¨lucky¨ punch to my understanding).
I believe that he wanted to humiliate Serra, and what better way to do it than on the ground where his best game is(supposely).
Pounding a highly decorated brazilian jiu jitsu black belt(as everybody anounces of Serra), is a great way to show abslolute dominance.

Did GSP deserve it after this one? Yes. Wow, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight UFC weight classes are obviously all dominated by one fighter. I’ve seen the same poster on 3 different forums now defending GSP. UFC pays bloggers to sway opinion and defend their crap-ass fixed fights. The fact that Serra didn’t complain about the early stoppage proves it. Why did Serra gas in Rd.1? He has JJ how come he couldn’t fight off his back? When you guys say Serra got “Domminate” I don’t think you really know how to judge a fight. GSP didn’t do any better on his feet than the first fight, secondly Serra was never in any danger of getting submitted and retook his guard many times. Early stoppage my ass, anyone who says that has never been in a fight before. Those knees were absolutely devastating. I have no doubt that Serra has some internal bleeding and/or some broken ribs. Knees like that can do some serious internal damage, especially when they are not being defended. It is the refs job to stop the fight when the fighter is in danger of being seriously injured. This is a rule and just because you want to see someone get knocked out or dragged around the ring and beatin to a bloody pulp does not mean it should not be enforced. You all saw Matt Serra after the fight he was NOT complaining it was an excellent stoppage on the refs part regardless of how much time was left on the clock.
