Log in to Reply joey April 22, 2008 sorry for the rapid comments but i shouldve read some of these comments b4.. GRIMN u dont make any ****en sense these are pros most likely if its effective its goin to b ****en painful.. thats y it was effective and painful and serra kept tryin to roll away from it.. cmon now.. it doesnt need any highlights serra got dominated it has nothing to do with GSP he didnt get much of a chance those take downs were beatiful.. serra was in pain im pretty shure his ribs are bruised Log in to Reply cosmo April 22, 2008 GSP dominated. The people who think those knee strikes weren’t doing damage are nuts. I think GSP will eventually be brought back to earth by a striker. The world is starting to learn: don’t let GSP get you down early or he’ll just grind you down and dominate. Josh Koscheck was a national wrestling champion and got schooled by GSP. Log in to Reply mart sweg April 22, 2008 hell yeah…im from montreal and i saw that ass kicking live…..go gsp…your the best…. Log in to Reply Mike April 22, 2008 Good stoppage, Serra just sat there as he was eating those knees, and it did hurt him because at the end he started moving around to change positions and moving his arm down to block them. He didn’t want to though because he would eat some punches to the head. If anybody thinks those knees don’t hurt you are an idiot. A few more of those knees Serra would have broken a rib or two. I mean come on GSP was putting everything he had on those knees to Serra’s unprotected rib! Anyway, good win, Serra looked like a class B fighter in this one. But then again he was fighting GSP. And oh yeah for the retard who said it didn’t hurt Serra because Serra in the post fight interview said it didn’t hurt him, what do you expect him to say? It hurt like a bitch and start crying like a baby? He’ll say it didn’t hurt and take it like a former champion. I hate retards who post in this forum. Log in to Reply WEEZEI April 22, 2008 Perfect just perfect. GSP is unstoppable when focus. Log in to Reply Rio_warrior April 22, 2008 Somebody got outclassed and will feel those ribs for about a month and a half. Log in to Reply Osa April 22, 2008 It’s easy to tell who are actual MMA fans. If people say a fight is boring because it’s on the ground, stick to Boxing, or stop watching MMA because it’s a “Cool” thing to do. Log in to Reply tank April 22, 2008 thanks for posting this man….**** yeah!! GSP…GSP…GSP…GSP!!!! Log in to Reply shadow April 22, 2008 @OSA – so very true. a shame that people can look at a match like this and not notice the skill that GSP was displaying. @crap – i feel sorry for people like you that need to create theories as excuses for a loss. the fact that you think GSP’s fanbase is only canadians shows how small your brain really is. easily thousands of americans cheering GSP over koschek. and what does dana white have to gain by making all these american fighters lose to GSP anyway?? i feel dumb for using the term, but you really are a noob. Log in to Reply Bushidodan April 22, 2008 Congrats to GSP!! I’d like to see him at least considered for Canadian Athlete of the Year as opposed to the figure skaters, skiers, rowers, Steve Nash and hockey players that are typically chosen. No disrespect intended… (especially to Nash) It would just go a long way to legitimize what is still a largely misunderstood sport in Canada. Speaking as a Torontonian, I can’t believe that MMA events are still banned in Ontario. My compliments to Quebec for taking the lead and simply getting it right!! I wonder how long it will take Ontario’s Athletic Commission to catch up to the rest of the country (And planet)!! It makes me laugh to see the all the “steriod” and “rigged fight” comments. These are obviously MMA fans that pay a great deal of attention to the sport, and yet they’re doing everything they can to bring the sport down. It really just seems like an attempt to stir the pot, or sour grapes. (I’m not sure which it is)If you believe they’re all on steroids and the fights are rigged…Don’t Watch!! Speaking of steroids… I can’t wait to see Sherk tapping for his life against Penn. (I suppose that will be rigged too) Say what you want about GSP and Serra, but they both win and lose with class.(something many other fighters in the sport can learn from) With all that said, I’m glad GSP has his belt back and I hope he hangs onto it much longer this time. I really hope he elects not to fight Silva. I’ve never been able to look at Rich Franklin the same way since his fights with Silva and can’t think of any reason why Silva wouldn’t be able to do the same to GSP. (with the exception of a Serra-like fluke knockout)I can’t picture any scenario where GSP even makes it out of the first round against Silva. Just too big, too strong, far better stand-up and much classier Jiu-jitsu. The only aspect of GSP’s game that is better than Silva is his wrestling. We’ve all seen what happens when Silva fights a “better wrestler”. (Lutter/Marquardt/Henderson and so on) Peace!! Log in to Reply Bushidodan April 22, 2008 To the dude that wants to see the Hieron/GSP rematch… I may actually lose some sleep tonight thinking about how insane a statement that is!! You did see their first fight didn’t you?? Do you think that Hieron wants that rematch?? Maybe you should check with him directly before volunteering his name. Log in to Reply A April 23, 2008 another fight that was stopped too quickly. That fight would have looked really good in the 3rd round. Log in to Reply mavricc April 23, 2008 that fight was alright but dont you think its time for gsp to step up to the bigs now for real honestly he should be fighting a class heavier than where hes at and honestly i dont think him nor mat hughes could thats why they fight at that weight class i like george but after analizing his career hes not going to be a great fighter in my eyes until he at least tried to go the extra pounds and its not like it will take much for him to fight in the next weightt class except for a total domination by anderson silva or a great fight one or thee other, i say go for it gsp put ur chin on the line one more time.. Log in to Reply ENTIGRA April 23, 2008 Rigging – Roids – all part of the game. Whine Whine Whine – do you want some cheese with that? As soon as there is any type of betting involved in sport there will always be rigging, a simple fact of life. If you not used to it by now you better start. Drugs are once again in every sport. Cycling, Running, Boxing, Bodybuilding you name it even in Golf for f*&k sake. Get over it. Was this particular fight rigged? – I cannot say for sure but my gut feel says defiantly not. GSP out classed a inferior opponent bottom line. Its Anderson Silva who should step up a weight devision. Stop always asking welterweights to step up to middle weight champions. I believe Anderson Silva should step up and fight Quinton Jackson, Wanderlei Silva or Chuck Liddell . He destroyed Rich Franklin let him prove himself just like the crap he talks about boxing Roy Jones Jr (get real). Don’t get me wrong I am a fan of Silva because of his fighting abilities but thats all. The Main problem in UFC is the no cross promotion – if Dana White allowed it there would be better competitors out there in the same weight categories. Log in to Reply 51450 April 23, 2008 Okay, just for the record. Anderson Silva was asked what he’d like to do one day, and he said he’d love to fight Roy Jones JR because he admires him and so on. The whole thing was blown out of proportion by the fans and media. Silva’s heart is in MMA. Log in to Reply Osa April 23, 2008 For the people who said Georges did NOT dominate, what do you consider domination? Georges walked in, and used every aspect of the sport. He scored on striking, he had beautiful takedowns, he had the best position the whole fight, Serra did not know what to expect, takedowns or strikes nor did his camp. Georges had control of the fight, meaning he dominated. Serra got him into guard, Georges escaped each time. What part did I miss that Georges did not control? He absolutely made Serra’s win over him seem like a fluke, because Matt looked like he had absolutely no business being on the same mat as him. Early stoppage? Matt didn’t complain. The ref said it loud and clear “Defend yourself, or I will stop it.” All Matt could do was turtle, and Georges was on the verge of breaking his ribs, which Matt is probably still pissing blood. As for the UFC being fixed… Wow, just wow. Someone’s a GSP hater. Believe me, if it were fixed, Chuck Liddell wouldn’t of lossed his title by KO in the 1st minute, Wanderlei Silva and Chuck would of never fought, or would of been a draw cause Silva’s ego is way too big, and Dana would not put someone from PRIDE over Chuck. I said it earlier, don’t MMA because it’s a “Cool” thing to do. Watch it because it is truly an art. To watch different fighters use different Martial Arts against each other. If your still on the whole “Fix” thing, WWE can be watched on Mondays at 9PM and also Friday nights at 8PM. Log in to Reply ja April 23, 2008 cant one say that serra was not in the right state of mind. after what i have seen from serra, he is not one to smirk or down-play the integrity of the sport which he most seriously did before the bell rang in both of those rounds. yes, serra is a squeaky voiced totally obnoxious borderline gay acting dude, but disloyal to the game and/or disrespectful he is not and never has been. he laughed in the face of st. pierre before the bell rang in both of those rounds, and I felt he laughed at the fans and UFC in those two instances, as if saying this fight is going to be too easy. Makes me think that serra took this fight the way st. pierre took their first fight. III is going to tell the truth. Log in to Reply David Blaze April 24, 2008 at least Matt got to be champ once in his life.. he made his statement Log in to Reply Herb April 25, 2008 Thank you! I have been looking for this video forever. GSP is a F ing bad a$$. I don’t think he can be stopped. Log in to Reply george April 25, 2008 hell george st pierre baby! Log in to Reply El Jefe April 26, 2008 Matt Serra is good but GSP is just a better fighter. Total domination from start to finish. Log in to Reply Dirk April 26, 2008 Sorry fellas but Matt is just a brawler that got lucky…tough I ‘ll give him that but Man he is totally out classed in everyway.by GSP I thought I was watching Spiderman fight Mr.Bean ! Log in to Reply MMA GIANT SILVA April 28, 2008 I will bet my life savings, that GSP doesnt make 2 title defenses in a row Log in to Reply Douche Bags April 28, 2008 If GSP lost the fight the way Serra did all you douche bags would be whining about the early stoppage at the very end of Rd. 2 and everyone in the crowd would have been booing. But since it was in canada and the majority of mma fans have jumped on the GSP bandwagon, UFC gets away with it and the majority of the fans are happy. Domination? not when your opponent doesn’t even put up a fight. What a crock. Log in to Reply oh yeah April 30, 2008 man idk. GSP was good and all but that 2nd round serra wasn’t out. i guess the ‘intelligent defense’ rule came into play Log in to Reply Matt Serra May 2, 2008 Thats bullshit…..Matt Serra was whooping his ass! Log in to Reply Brazilian May 3, 2008 Oh, impressive. But some people where talking about a gsp vs a silva… well, the only thing that can be bet in such a fight is in what round A. Silva would KO him, with possible choices for first or second. Log in to Reply SWAY May 3, 2008 There wil be more canadian fighters like GSP Log in to Reply ScHwaG May 17, 2008 hahaha…serra lost…GO GSP!!! Log in to Reply Sky J May 18, 2008 **** gsp he got lucky matt sera any other time would kick his ass like the first time Log in to Reply BJJ fighter January 24, 2009 Why do people want to see silva and goarge fight? Goarge is to small for a middle weight and silva would be to skinny as a welter weight. would be a good fight if they could maybe do a catch weight but one fighter would have a disadvantage. Good fight pierre. Thats how he should have handled the first fight against serra! Log in to Reply code November 30, 2009 Something I think is not appreciated is that ANYONE can get knocked out. Period. The good fighters avoid the haymakers better than most, but the potential knockout always exists when you go toe to toe. Smart fighters take their shots when the odds are good, then retreat to strike another day. Getting in a toe to toe slugfest lowers the odds for a good fighter, even if they are better with their hands. I think GSP realized this when a fresh Matt Serra connected–on the back of his head when he was ducking. After that, his composure was lost, and Serra hit him with more good shots. GSP knows his conditioning is better than most and his wrestling is better than most. It makes sense for a smart fighter to use his strengths. In this case, GSP took Serra down, gassed him out and got in some good ground and pound. After that, Serra’s standup didn’t have the pop of a fresh fighter–and was much less of a threat, while GSP, due to superior conditioning, was able to keep his hands up, and show excellent standup. GSP gassed out Fitch, Penn, and Alves in a similar fashion. Being cautious in standup in the first round, and gassing out the opponent works very well for St. Pierre, and the odds are much higher you will not be knocked out when you are on top of your opponent. Once the opponent is gassed, their standup is slower and less powerful–so standup is safer. Log in to Reply « Older Comments Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
