i don’t like hughes, but it sucks to see a guy get KO’d when he’s well past his prime, twice, consecutively. I hope he retires, poor guy. If he had a chin he could still compete, he looked good until he got caught.

Nice fight!
Few nice lessons for the learners here…
1. Don’t look at the clock when you are fighting or you might get clip with a nice LH.
2. If the whole world saw you get injured, expect some nasty aim at your injury spot.
3. If you play nasty, expect the same back.
4. If you are reffing a fight, keep an eye on both fighters at all time, if one is in distress, you must try to keep eye contact at all time.
Nice start for both fighters, Hughes plan seemed not too bad, I think he pissed Mr. Ego Koscheck when he made it clear that he would try to brake his orbital bone again.
The slight change…once hurt Koscheck put more weight into his punch.

I love Matt Hughes..but I knew he was past his prime..I didn’t expect him to win,but was really rooting for him.Now maybe his wife will get her wish and he will retire..Too bad some fighters have to get old..The great ones are all gone now..John Jones is my new hope….

You have to remember that Hughes used to be a big welterweight back when he was winning everything. Now, he looks like a weak kid among grown-ups.
With the professional dieticians and professional training system, guys like Hughes need to fight at 145 (of course he is too old and lean to cut that much weight). Koscheck is not even one of the biggest guys in the division and he dwarfed Matt.
He can still be in the UFC fighting new up and comers or other 40-somethings, but he will lose most of his fights.
If he wants a chance to win, he needs to go down to 155 and fight older guys like Sean Sherk. That could be a great final fight for both of them. Either that or Royce Gracie.

I was impressed that hughes had the better boxing.. it seems like matt has just never had a great chin.. Hughes did a lot for the sport, it was time to retired. Enough is enough and Koscheck is still one of the top 10. He just need to put things together and come back strong again.

Both these guys suck. Matt hughes was never good and I dont like his attitude. Also koscheck has the worst standup in the ufc period. Koscheck should be fighting in strikeforce let alone the ufc. I knew it was gonna go bad for Matt from that very first punch. You could see that it rattled him right away. The guy just doesn’t have a chin anymore. It happens.
He’s still a legend, though. Those of you who didn’t see him back in the day have no idea how dominant this guy was.

uh. he beat gsp,penn, and sherk which is more than most fighters can say. he dominated his division for 4-5 years. your same comment can be made about chuck who did he beat that makes him a “legend”? in my opinion the only “legends” are gsp, anderson, randy and bj for having the belt in two divisions, and fedor.
