@Viking. Yes, he’s the one holding the largest cut in mma history. It was in his debut against Vitor Belfort. This guy is almost 40ys, should be retired already.

You gotta feel for Eastman. It seems like everytime I see this guy, he gets laid out in the first or second round. I think the reach disadvantage hurts him a lot.

That’d be because he’s lost all but 1 of his UFC fights, and lost them by KO or TKO. I’ve only seen a couple of his non-UFC fights, but it seems that he’s lost some decisions and been submitted a few times. I think it’s a shame that he hasn’t had success in the UFC, because he seems like a pretty cool guy and an exciting fighter. And even moreso because “Marvin ‘The Beastman’ Eastman” is an extremely cool name.

Marvin Eastman is simply cannon fodder for the UFC. They feed Eastman to fighters who need a tune up fight, knowing that he will be knocked out in convincing fashion.

I’m not saying a 5′9″ fighter can’t compete at that level (anything is possible if he’s got great ground skills and lightning-fast agility on his feet), but it’s definitely difficult. Eastman just doesn’t have the reach, lightness on his feet, or takedown skills to defeat a taller and faster opponent, and that’s most of them these days.

He’s definitely an exciting fighter when he’s got a good matchup, but they’re getting fewer and farther between for him.

I remember when Rampage Jackson fought against Eastman. Man that was a hell of a fight. Rampage was still pudgy and wore cheap biker shorts and he was gassing, but still fought his heart out.

eastman was the winner but rampage really showed a glimpse of things to come
