Mark Hunt showed some good grappling.Not great compared to the highly talented grapplers like Cain but really good for a k-1 fighter.He can just become better and better in grappling.Who would ever think Mark would get a mounted armbar? :P Mark has ridiculous legs.He destroys people wth his leg kicks.Rothwell has a real cardio problem.I know they were at high altitude but he still go outcardioed(i dont know if its a word)by Mark Hunt who isn’t known for his cardio.

Anyone know why these guys got the 3rd highest fight? Hunt is a complete scrub with a pathetic MMA record. 6-7 (before the win) that close to the co-main event LOL. This was a terrible fight. That said, this card was worth paying for and the rest of the fights were awesome.

I thought Mark Hunt was retired. Was quite surprised to see him there.

He seemed to have lost weight and picked up some ground game.

props to Rothwell, they gassed out, but trust me, Mark Hunt punches are no joke. he took some heavy ones.

3rd highest figt probably because of Hunt professional career path.

He was mostly known for his K1 years. Always overweighted, but could take some mean heavy hits and deliver some killer kicks and a powerful upper right hand punch.

In his K1 years, he fought mean tough heavy weight fighters. Schilt, Le Banner, Filipovic, Filho, Hoost to name a few K1 champions.

So I would like to think it’s the interest on observing the transition of a K1 fighter trying MMA. regardless the age.

Same for Walker, Lesnar. Seeing some athlete with other background training trying MMA rules of combat.

that is my 2 cents on it.

Let’s say we would still call him Mister :-)

wow, I actually agree with you for once. that fight was atrocious, reminiscent of Toughman fights. That should’ve been a prelim.

they are at HIGH ALTITUDE! these fighters are big and slow, and didnt get used to the ALTITUDE

Putting two very heavy HWs to fight in that altitude is definitely a bad idea, especially if you count that Rothwell has been on the shelves for a while.
To be honest, I just loved to see a very old Mark Hunt learning new tricks. It’s just fun and the guy doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone anymore. I do agree that it should have been planned to sea level, though. These two are actually excellent fighters in their own right, but you can’t really perform well if you have to carry over 260 pounds at that altitude. Seriously, go try that.

Don’t be too quick to blame this on the altitude thing even though I know it makes a difference. The reason being that I’m pretty sure Rothwell has shown crap cardio in a previous fight as well, I think it was the Ivel fight or something. Hunt’s cardio was not nearly as bad but as bad as I would have expected so he’s in the clear in my view. Rothwell, however, has proven to me that he has horrible conditioning. Oh and he’s kind of a fat F*** too.

I read someone’s post that Rothwell should be let go for being in such horrible condition. That’s one of the most uneducated posts I’ve read on here in awhile. For as many clean bombs he took from Hunt as he did and last the whole fight is one of the most amazing heavyweight feats I’d ever seen. Hunt’s one of the greatest EVER not just heavyweight but Super heavyweight strikers of all time in K-1. If you can take multiple shots like he did and keep moving is just amazing. Major respect for Rothwell. 2nd best fight of the night.
