Mark Fightshark Miller Story

Open heart surgery? Damn. Good for him.
I would have opened the fight with a big push kick to the chest. Just to get him thinking about it. But that’s just me.
the red haired guy had his chance but instead of throwing his own right he decided to stop, lean back and try to throw a left hook instead lol, fail
Hhhahaha .. and check the stitch work btw.
What was the reason for the surgery?

What lead to you having to have open heart surgery? And what is your prognosis now?
Here’s how it goes. I was living in Arizona at the time. I was training MMA but I got offered to fight in the S1. It was a kickboxing league from Thailand. They had decided to do their first show in the US and wanted me to fight for them in Miami Florida. So I had to get licensed to fight in Florida. Since I was living in Arizona, I was having problems with my back. I chalked it up to the fact that I was running mountains. I had had back surgery before and thought I would need to go back for it. So I went to Pittsburgh to see my doctor who fixed my back before, and I had gotten the results back from my testing to get licensed. What happened was my EKG had come back a little weird. My doctor said why don’t I see a cardio specialist. He knew I had a problem cause I was born with a misformed aortic valve. And they knew about it. So I went and had an appointment with him. And the doctors said I needed to take time off as I was re-aggravating my old back injury. So I said I was going to work through it as I had a fight coming up. As I was leaving the appointment I got a call from the secretary of the cardio doctor saying that I needed to come into the office the next morning. I may not be the smartest guy, but I knew that wasn’t good news.
So I went and saw him and they had ran an echo cardio gram and at that time I had 23% cardio output and needed to shut everything down. Being a pain in the ass I wanted a second opinion. So they sent me to another heart specialist and they did what they call an esophageal echo cargo gram where they go down your throat to see and it is the best way to see what is going on. When I got done with that, the prognosis was worse. They said I had 15% output and that I shouldn’t even be able to walk at that point. The doc had said my heart had become massively enlarged due to all the training I was doing. They started spouting off all this doctor speak about how your left ventricle should never be more than 5 cm in diameter, and at that time mine was 7.3. They said my career was over and that I needed to have heart surgery. They didn’t have bed side manners and I wasn’t too happy.
Hmmm no reaction from the croud in the background…

@DKgonzo You’re a Tom Waits fan?!?! Attaboy, DK. One of the greatest musicians EVER. His old jazz/blues was where it was really at, though. If anyone reading this wants their mind blown, download his “Nighthawks at the Diner” album. It’s a big part of why I am the way that I am. Take that as you will……..
