I don’t know what’s funnier…Mark Coleman kicked in the face or his assclown banana ad. After that infamous fight he threw, much respect for the man was lost. They say he ‘invented’ ground and pound as if people haven’t been grounding and pounding each other since prehistory. I guess they refer to the term and not the action. The man was one of the original badasses of the UFC, he’s been around a long while so I have to give him credit for that. But his disgraceful throwing of that Pride fight has left me nauseated by his presence in MMA. The banana ad speaks volumes about his willingness to do anything for a buck. It would not surprise me if he throws the Lesnar fight as well. The situation is eerily similar to the fight he threw in Pride. Lesnar’s star is on the rise, so was Takada’s. If the Japanese offered anyone a million dollars to take a dive I think most people would have a hard time saying no (myself included) especially considering the meager earnings of MMA fighters. I guess I wish he didn’t do it in such a ridiculously obvious spectacle. So phony, so unconvincing, so dishonorable, so bad for MMA. If the Don Kings of the world get their grubby mits on MMA like they did boxing, it will leave a stain that’ll be hard to wash off. Fixed fights seem to be anomalous in MMA. Lets hope it stays that way.
