Would have been a better fight if Shane was 6 years younger.

Beast w/ 8 Limbs Says, in 5-8-2011 at 15:22:09 from

It looks like Manny’s Achille’s Heel, might be the strong stylistic boxer. I would’ve loved to have seen this fight with Mosely in his prime, with his old power. How do you guys think Pacquiao would fair against an even stronger boxer, who could further frustrate him? Someone like Mayweather.

Goomba Says, in 5-8-2011 at 15:24:10 from

@HDWH I think the card had a lot of finishes.

Genghis Khan Says, in 5-8-2011 at 15:41:19 from

This fight was horrible… After a couple of rounds Mosley realized he was never going to beat Pacquiao and just stopped attacking. Very boring fight.

Rear Naked Smoke AKA Hands of Stoned Says, in 5-8-2011 at 16:01:27 from

Ugh. Yeah, I’m gonna watch this. I don’t know why. Lemme guess, it’s like 45 minutes of Manny punching the s*** out of this guy, right? Yet it goes the distance, right? F**k. Maybe I won’t watch it.
Pacquiao is SO good. But boxing is SO boring.
Thanks for the post, Bruno. Looking at the comments though, I think I’m gonna skip this one.

willienugget Says, in 5-8-2011 at 18:13:46 from

Interesingly in the 12th the announcer, who’s own card had Manny winning all rounds but one(only due to his lack of understanding of the rules which would score the 10th even) called his performance poor.

I do think Shane may have won a couple early rounds, but it wasn’t very competitive. I really don’t like seeing professional fighters touch gloves/hug before every round.

Manny should have been upset because it sounds as if he legitimately wants to put on a show. It takes two to tango.

I think Pac/Money would be ultraboring but Manny would drop him.

SEAN_VANCE Says, in 5-8-2011 at 18:23:18 from

THe problem with this fight was Mosley, this dude was scared shitless and only jabbed and ran the whole damn fight… Manny was pushing the whole fight!
Manny wasnt able to land as many punches against him as previous fights but Mosley lost every damn round by being so defensive.
If <ayweather ever fights him he will do the same thing, be ULTRA defensive and pop shot him once in a while..only difference is that Mayweather most likely will land, Mosley couldnt land anything.

Pacquiao Fan Says, in 5-8-2011 at 18:31:51 from

Shane Mosley got shocked by that knockdown. This is almost like Pacquiao-Barrera II where Barrera decided to fight just to survive.

Mayweather is scared! Mosley and Mayweather fight was not as good as this. PACMAN FTW!

cenonfrancis Says, in 5-8-2011 at 19:57:34 from

If you see in of the rounds, Mosley clearly put his foot on Pacman’s foot causing Pacman to fall but gets up quickly.

pho3nixxx Says, in 5-8-2011 at 20:10:45 from

after mosley got dropped he didn’t want to risk ruining his never been knocked out stat, went right into his shell and made it another one sided fight, at least clotty stood there and copped them, mo’zzzzzzz’ley just ran for his dear life…lame.

gunnyhighway99 Says, in 5-8-2011 at 20:17:16 from

Thanks for the fight Bruno. It was almost as good as GSP vs Shields, except that these guys know how to box!! Sugar had no answer to the straight right/left combo, and no one can match Manny’s speed right now. Where’s Mayweather?

Grim Says, in 5-8-2011 at 20:38:10 from

Mr. Nice Guy Says, in 5-8-2011 at 21:13:17 from

Floyd fought mosely and didn’t put him on the floor. Manny did! I wonder why floyd doesn’t fight paquiao. Floyd can back up what he says he can do in all his fights. I don’t know if it will be the case for floyd if him and manny go at it. It would be a great fight i think.

Ground St. Pound Says, in 5-9-2011 at 00:08:32 from

I thought it was as exciting as GSP’s last fight, and I like both GSP and Pacquiao….

While it’s true that Mosley gave up attacking early and backpedaled the whole fight, it’s also true that Pacquiao wasn’t able to pressure him like you’d expect.

I wonder if Manny was distracted more than usual during his camp.

yang_vp85 Says, in 5-9-2011 at 00:08:33 from

the pac man and mosley two gentlemen who are a credit to the sport.shane said he’d never been hit harder.the only thing left now is for mayweather to take his dress off and remove his panties for a pair of boxing trunks.shut that crapper he thinks is his mouth and get out there.the biggest money draw in fight history.the good against the evil, the darkness against the light, the bullshitter against the straight shooter.oh man.what drama.

would have liked to have seen a little more of Shane (pre knock down in the 3rd ) but it would have happened sooner or later.Pacquiao didnt look like his usual unstoppable self and still dominated almost if not every round

A knockdown and Manny getting shoved on his ass aint bad

ETK Says, in 5-9-2011 at 04:57:40 from

There are videos of Mosley’s trainer, early on when this fight was signed, Mosley’s trainer was saying one of his strategies was to get Pacquiao to over reach and lose position and lose balance and catch him. So you see Mosley always stepping back, always way out of range, trying to make that happen. But, of course, Pacquiao was prepared for that, and tried to avoid that, because Mosley’s trainer gave away the plan. But then, at some point, Mosley was just moving back back back, running, avoiding the fight, surviving.
Also, in the 360 videos I was able to see that Pacquiao’s camp had a strategy to attack Mosley’s mody. In the 360 videos Pacquiao was doing alot of body shots, very hard body shots, counter attack body shots, power punches, combinations body attacks, so I thought Pacquiao was going for Mosley’s body, which is a good strategy to take away a power punchers power, and against an older opponent. So, Mosely’s camp must have seen the same thing, and then you get what you had, Mosley showed up ripped, his mid section, more conditioned, Mosley’s abs were in better condition than I have seen in several of his past fights.
Many times in the fight, Pacquiao would have had to literally run after Mosley to get in striking range, or literally jump it, and jumping or running in is not smart.

Sephy Says, in 5-9-2011 at 10:52:13 from

I love mma, but I am a much bigger boxing fan and was a little disappointed in the fight, but you can’t make them fight.. Mosely got scared and stopped engaging, so it made for a rare disappointing Manny fight.. Hopefully Marquez and Manny goes for a third time, always an exciting fight..

Blarix Says, in 5-9-2011 at 10:58:40 from

Boxing is technical and exciting if you know what is happening on the screen. I love MMA and Boxing. I find it hilarious people screaming ”boxing is so boring”. The biggest boxing fights have left pages in the history books while MMA biggest fights get forgotten within a year.

M1S3N3R Says, in 5-9-2011 at 11:57:25 from

Thats a compliment to MMA, good fights happen often theres lots of great fights in a short period of time.. great fights in boxing are spread out over a MUCH longer period of time

cowfy Says, in 5-9-2011 at 12:08:28 from

right dat blarix.some folks just don’t read the art in it.they don’t understand the moves.its really a bit like chess.of course mma can be exiting as well but as soon as it gets technical these same boobs who critisize boxing start boooing.

Grape Soda Says, in 5-9-2011 at 12:25:22 from

willienugget Says, in 5-9-2011 at 13:30:33 from

I think that’s more a testament to the time we live. Nothing gets remembered now. Also, for the most part, if the fans really want to see the two best fighters in their weight class, it’s easier to make happen. One guy usually controls both fighters and just pits them against one another.

If Tyson and Lewis were mma fighters, they’d have fought long before they did. Mayweather/Pac would have happened for sure.

It’s just my opinion but I think any mma that isn’t gladiator style is on the level of boxing for many so called fans. They really aren’t fans of the sport. They just want to see someone get carried off on a stretcher.

willienugget Says, in 5-9-2011 at 13:36:02 from

Basically boxing is more frustrating than boring. You wait forever to see two guys fight and when they finally do, one of them is out of his prime and the fight oft fails to live up to expectations. These expectations only escalate over time and simply cannot deliver by the time they happen.

Xhytype Says, in 5-9-2011 at 14:41:06 from

FYI: as reported; Mayweather was watching Lady Gaga concert on the Pacquiao-Mosley fight night.. i rest my case…. =D

Rear Naked Smoke AKA Hands of Stoned Says, in 5-9-2011 at 14:46:01 from

@ willie Yup. That’s more what I meant. The sport itself is pure and beautiful, nothing can ever change that. The current presentation of it is boring, as well as frustrating. 2 talented fighters got in the cage to fight on Saturday, for an assload of money. Yet we all agree it sucked. That was the point I was making. And that’s kinda what we mean when we all say MMA is slowly turning into boxing. It’s more the money, politics, and timing, not the fighters or the act of fighting. And I don’t see what can be done about it. A fighter who’s made 6 figures or more will never be as hungry as he was before. That’s just human nature.
Smaller gloves would be a start, though.

Just out of curiosity, are you a fan of boxing, Bruno?

Bruno: Yes. I used to be a boxer.

RuttenJump Says, in 5-9-2011 at 14:53:38 from

I liked that fight because like Blarix said this fight was a technical fight and alot of the boxing fans dont know boxing. And this portion of fans is the same that watch MMA for the blood.Thats why when there’s technical grappling fights that “stall” people hate it because they only want to see the guy pound the other on bottom until he is cut or is KOed.They dont understand that if they dont “stall”,they will either get subbed, have their guard passed, give a bad postion or get swept.Just like boxing if you never really paid attention to the technics or never trained, you will only like fighters like Chris Leben or Leonard garcia.Every casual fan who watches MMA or boxing like they watch other team sports only like the “spectacular” portion of the sport so in fighting sports its finishes but there’s no way IMO that this fight can be considered boring.slow paced and technical but not boring.

T’Challa Says, in 5-9-2011 at 20:02:37 from

Fight was boring cause Mosley would not engage and was content with just surviving.. No more big money fights for Mosley..

JJ Says, in 5-11-2011 at 19:05:18 from

On the one hand I don’t really like bashing whole sport on basis on one fight, but it’s invevitable if you’re dealing with the most marketable fight at the given moment. I can’t tell if the fight was boring or not, I can only say that I was bored to tears watching it, and for the first time in my life, I stopped watching Pacman fight before it ended. I didn’t see any ‘technical’ fireworks in this fight to be honest and definitely not much excitement – there was basically nothing there for me except for the knockdown and I wished Pacman finished it then and there. I think I know why I kind of dropped boxing for mma – not that I never watch it, but I simply lost interest of it (despite the fact I trained boxing for a couple years). With mma I get as close as it’s possible to the answer to: who’s the better guy overall (amounts to: who would win in the real life scenario), whereas boxing start to seem too much ‘artificial’ with it’s rules. More of a pure sport than a fight.

NDobie Says, in 5-12-2011 at 13:46:52 from

Ok, Mayweather vs Pacquiao might not be happening – I think Sergio Martinez has got Pacquiao’s number – that would be an incredibly difficult fight for Pacquiao
