Did you read any of Pacman’s or Roach’s interviews after this fight? Pacmen was willing to stand and let Cotto hit him with power shots, because Pacman learned early on in this fight that Cotto did not have enough power to hurt him. Roach was NOT happy about Pacman doing this.

Amat, I respect what you’re saying but my beef is more with the UK fans than the fighters themselves. I’ve just seen a lot of horrible decisions in England, more so than any other country. They care more about rigging a fight than truly fighting for a victory. I just find their competitive arrogance absolutely ridiculous. They’re like the Italian Mafia strong-arming soccer officials. I’m canadian but I don’t just blindly back guys because they’re Canadian, I remain objective and I abide by the ideals of a meritocracy when it comes to judging fights and sports in general, as do many people from a lot of other countries OTHER THAN THE UK.

But the UK SkySports HD1 announcers were spot on for this PACQUIAOvsCOTTO fight, whereas the US announcers were a farce of sorts. From 106 lbs to 144 lbs, the toughest fight for the filipino. TRUE. Maywether has fought ever one in his division that was suppose to be great and he beat them all. Who has he ducked? He knocked out Manfreddy after Manfreddy destroyed Gatti in his prime twice. Mayweather vs De La Hoya had 2.4 million ppv buys at 55 dollars which was the most ppv buys in boxing’s history.

In my opinion the fighting business only has a small % of people who pay for ppv thus concluding that in 5-10 years MMA maybe as big as boxing is now and boxing fades out or MMA and Boxing remain as they are now.

Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao will happen because it needs to, it’ll probably just take awhile.. Floyd shouldn’t have taken that temporary retirement then there wouldn’t be such a dispute on the money side of things. Because of that vacation many people feel that manny is now the pound for pound champ and therefore, deserves an even split or better.. If floyd had remained in the game then he would clearly have a better stance in negotiations, in that he would have been winning fights the whole time manny was. Anyway, I would love to see it, but my money is still on floyd, I don’t see him getting caught.

One Thing is for sure. Mayweather will do his usual running around, he will say that Manny has been KOed twice and he will get the way bigger chunk out of the ppv purse. That wasn’t a bad stoppage. No offense Red but I’m guessing you don’t watch boxing that often. Cotto was offering absolutely nothing in return for the past 4 rounds and the only reason it wasn’t stopped earlier is because the ref gave a chance for Miguel’s corner to step up or for Miguel to call a quits himself. It’s not like MMA, these guys take shots to the head over a 12 round fight and it’s extremely taxing to the brain when compared to MMA, where usually the punch that hurts you is the one that ends the fight. These guys are given 10 seconds to recoop only to get up and get more and more battered. Over the last 4 rounds it honestly looked like a terminator stalking a bunny rabbit, and maybe for savages it would have been nice to see the bunny(Cotto) get blown up. But to me, the ref was right in saying with %100 certainty that there was absolutely nothing left but for Cotto to get really badly hurt. That combined with the Margarito fight, where Margarito could have been wearing hard plaster in his gloves, could lead to some serious life-shortening injuries for Cotto. I wouldn’t have wanted to see him die in that ring, boxing is very serious and easily one of the more dangerous sports. Boxing needs officials to step up and be brave when the fighters have too much pride to quit.. In my mind that was a rescue, not a stoppage.

to all of you morons out there, welterweight is fought between 141 and 147. So, 145 is definitely a welterweight fight. Tell me this, is losing 2 pounds better or worse than gaining 10 lbs. pacquiao is a natural lightweight (135). The fight stopped too soon by the referee? seriously? the fight should have been stopped in the 9th or 10th. The refere always wants to err on the side of caution. it is better to stop a fight one punch too early than a punch too late. although cotto was still fighting back, he was taking way too many punishment. and what about all these comments that boxing is boring compared to mma? it depends on who is fighting.this was a very exciting fight. vera-couture on the other hand was a sleepfest and oh the descision was atrocious.
