Biggest robbery in a long time. As a fan and not a hater, its just BS that they gave a one sided fight to the loser just because he’s more marketable

DD Says, in 11-14-2011 at 11:26:11 from

its just ridiculous. Ive been a boxing fan longer than an MMA even but this is the last straw for me…we might as well be watching WWE when things are this fixed. Its a disgrace and a real shame.

bigtigger Says, in 11-14-2011 at 11:43:25 from

Agreed, that was the worst judging I have seen in a long time. Arguably the third time Marquez has been robbed by the Pac. wow…..

glenn Says, in 11-14-2011 at 11:46:19 from

it wasnt a robbery, yes it was a close fight but manuel dint push the last couple of round it remind me the fight machida vs rampage ,ramapage won of his agression just like here

sooooopernate Says, in 11-14-2011 at 11:52:02 from

How can you guys say it was a robbery? It was close as s***. I was really impressed that JMM was still able to counter Manny after all these years (I thought he won the first two) but Manny really turned it on in the later rounds. Honestly, I think the 114-114 score was right, but I could see a 1-point margin either way. I’ll have to watch the fight again I guess, but doesn’t that defeat the purpose of live judging?

Now, will you guys finally concede that Mayweather would destroy Pac? Manny doesn’t do well with counter punchers, he got countered like crazy in the first 7 rounds of this fight, and Mayweather is the best counterpuncher in the business, not to mention that he made JMM look like an AMATEUR when they fought. I’

i find 9 times out of 10 your not going to win a belt by decision but I don’t think the judges were fair here…one of the judges scored this 116 – 112 ?? hahaha Your doing a bang up job there buddy! Enjoy that bribe money

MMA is taking over Says, in 11-14-2011 at 12:28:26 from

How did Marquez deserve the win in this fight? He had the crowd on his side, but he wasn’t as active as Manny. I thought rounds 7, 8, and 11 were close but Manny clearly won more rounds. The cut is completely meaningless and should be ignored as it was confirmed it was caused by a headbutt.

Twana Says, in 11-14-2011 at 12:38:15 from

thejkj Says, in 11-14-2011 at 12:43:53 from

not a robbery… people need to open their eyes. Was a close fight but Manny pulled ahead a bit and managed to keep a slight advantage. Marquez has only himself to blame for taking it easier in the last couple rounds.

robosquad Says, in 11-14-2011 at 12:58:54 from

Dude, all you guys are biased like crazy. Robbery? Give me a break. That fight was won by Pacman. Even if some of the judges gave too many rounds to Pacman, the overall fight was his. He is the champ, you got to win decisively against the champ and Marquez did not do that.

tra101 Says, in 11-14-2011 at 13:06:42 from

it was a close fight but i still don’t see how marquez was robbed like dana said don’t let it go in the judges was anybody fight.

no no no…guys please speak to anyone who knows about boxing. I was a good amateur boxer in the UK and have a lot of friends involved in professional boxing promoting etc and everyone is disgusted by this its a joke….
an interesting point for you I watched the fight live with English commentary and Amir Khan was the guest commentator (Mannys training partner and very close friends) and he even thought manny had lost the fight clearly before the decision and actually said ill have marquez next though!!! he knew it everyone knew it…watch manny and freddie straight after the bell they know hes lost!!! ITS A JOKE!

DD Says, in 11-14-2011 at 13:20:21 from

wonder how much the judges were paid??

Dank Says, in 11-14-2011 at 13:40:14 from

Robbery??? To be the the champ you gotta beat the champ not go to a close decision. marquez didnt knock him down nor did he really hurt manny. whoever thinks marquez won needs there eyes checked. Stop crying you sniveling chode sniffers.

jack.perpetual Says, in 11-14-2011 at 14:02:23 from

First of all, I enjoyed watching the fight between these 2 skilled boxers. Here’s my take from what I saw…Marquez landed the noticeably bigger shots throughout the fight, although they weren’t extremely consistent or very damaging. Manny went forward the entire fight and his ring generalship most likely earned him the decision. Right or wrong, it is well known that you have to decisively take the belt from the champ and that didn’t happen. I have seen many decisions that make this one look absolutely legitimate, this is definitely not the biggest robbery. I would have to watch again and keep a scorecard, but I don’t even think 116-112 is all that heinous because so many rounds could have gone either way. Point blank, don’t leave it to the judges.

pacster Says, in 11-14-2011 at 14:02:44 from

I just watched and judged the entire fight..I have Manny winning by one round.

Turboobsessed Says, in 11-14-2011 at 14:11:36 from

This fight should been a draw, Period! Even Freddy Roach said at the post conference that this fight was closer than the first two. The judge with 116-112 is a joke. Great fight by two warriors. I say part 4 is needed. I rather see these warriors go at it instead of watching mayweather. He is a wasted cheapshot bum.

jack.perpetual Says, in 11-14-2011 at 14:17:23 from

Also, I too watched the UK broadcast and thought Amir Khan did a good job analyzing the fight and commentating in general. However, it is a scientific fact that eye-witness testimony is highly unreliable and it’s a shame that it holds so much weight in our judicial system, not to mention boxing and mma. These guys are sitting ring-side (not a great view), trying to track lightning fast strikes and stay unbiased (supposedly) while listening to screaming fans. I don’t think I’ve ever tried to defend judges before, yuck, but this was a damn close fight.

Marquez fan Says, in 11-14-2011 at 14:58:54 from

I watched this for the 4th time and i never had JMM winning the fight……i scored it 115-113 for pacquiao.

He was the aggressor, he showed ring generalship, and the compubox numbers show it as well.

pac won fair and square, maybe jmm should come to fight next time….HE DIDNT LEAVE IT IN THE RING

cowfy Says, in 11-14-2011 at 15:01:37 from

you don’t win the belt as the last guy said by counter punching.the pac man was cute .juan was like slow molassas.waiting for his shots.if he hurt pac it could have been intresting and all these emotional critiqes moght have a leg to stand no way.he cried and his fans cried but the judges were right on.

This is like what happened to De La Hoya when he fought Tito. Gil Clancy told him to box and not try to go for the KO. Robert Alcazar was also goading De La Hoya into just dancing away after they said he had “won” the first 7 rounds. You don’t want to do that a in close fight. Dammit Nacho!

jballer Says, in 11-14-2011 at 16:20:09 from

thanks for the post bruno; a few thoughts.

this is a great example of everything that’s right and everything that’s wrong with boxing. what’s right is that, it was a great matchup, and fairly entertaining.

what’s wrong is the blatant favoritism shown towards pacquiao. what the hell does marquez have to do to get a break? i had him up 8 rounds to 4… and i like pacquiao! at worst, it should’ve been called a majority draw.

but don’t let this fool you: mayweather is nothing like marquez. styles make fights, i still say pacquiao has the kind of style that could give mayweather fits. still, after seeing this, i would put my money on mayweather. should they actually fight.

Doyle Brunson Says, in 11-14-2011 at 17:04:43 from

Nacho Beristain screwed up Says, in 11-14-2011 at 17:54:04 from

I’m sorry, but Pacquiao won. Marquez should’ve gone out on his shield and should’ve have been more assertive to fight Pacquiao. He should’ve just tried to engage more instead of sitting back and he paid for it on the judges scorecards. It was close, he made Pacquiao look human and he fought him on a more competitive plane, but he gave rounds away.

chunkerpunk Says, in 11-14-2011 at 18:28:25 from

I had the fight 7 rounds to 5 for pacquiao.

zgz Says, in 11-14-2011 at 19:25:37 from

very close fight, the decision was just. Pacquiao out punched JMM, and lets not forget he is the champ. You have to beat the champ in order to become the champ & at no point did he do that.

On a side note, fights like this really show how far off MMA is from being a top tier sport.

mscash Says, in 11-14-2011 at 19:39:51 from

First, no win should ever be apologized for … next I like Harold Letterman’s description of ring general-ship, the ability to bring the fight, … but Freddie Roach described it best between each round … Pacman was not following the established FR game plan.

ness2k Says, in 11-14-2011 at 19:49:08 from

Manny won! What fight are you guys watching?

keepdoingthebong Says, in 11-14-2011 at 19:59:35 from

Everyone thought that Pacman would just run through JMM. That was what people were expecting. Since that wasnt the case, people started to watch when Pacman was getting hit, not when JMM was getting blasted. Watch the fight again. JMM gave Pacman a run for his money but Pacman was aggresive while JMM wanted to counter punch. JMM and his corner lost it for him. You got to take the fight to the champ not wait and counter. C’mon guys….

tobes Says, in 11-14-2011 at 20:37:11 from

I definitely think the fight could have been scored in favour of Marquez, or a draw, or a slight advantage to Manny. This is similar to Shogun/Machida in my mind (everyone screaming robbery but personally don’t feel that way)

tobes Says, in 11-14-2011 at 20:44:40 from

It was all Pacquiao in the last 3 rounds. That’s what sticks in the judges minds. Marquez slowed up. Maybe he got tired… Manny didn’t get excited at the end of the fight or raise his hands because he knew that he had not decisively won (as he was hoping to do), probably not because he felt that he had lost (though I think he knew it was a possibility).

AK47LOVER Says, in 11-14-2011 at 20:50:29 from

Name a African American Manny has fought other than Mosley after Mayweather already sent into retirement? All he has done was dodge them. Floyd has submitted to olympic style blood test for years simply to clean up the sport of boxing because the people at the top want PEDS in the sport because brutality sales tickets. Even when Manny Paqcrap has his steroids he still is a mediocre boxer a best unless his opponent decides to brawl. Bob Arum is Manny’s Sugar Daddy,Manny’s a spineless yesman punk

tobes Says, in 11-14-2011 at 20:52:55 from

Sorry, they score it round by round, so ‘sticking in the judges minds’ was not what I meant to say. Marquez would have won by split decision if he won the 12th round.

All of these people saying Marquez won are not even explaining the criteria they’re basing their opinions on. What? Did he have more power punches? Did he do more damage? What? Look at the numbers. Hell, look back and count em all up yourself; most of the stats were in Manny’s favor. Yes, JMM landed the more significant shots of the fight, but that does not win you a fight, nevertheless a round! This reminds me of the first BJ-Edgar fight where BJ sat there countering with power-shots while Edgar stayed busy and peppered him. It f’ing matters, people! In the end, BJ’s all busted from the “dancing and pillowshots” administered by Edgar, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing here if you sub in JMM and Manny, respectively. Manny was up going into round 8, if not even with JMM cuz I had two rounds before that up for grabs. JMM sat back and tried to counterpunch Manny and payed the price. He only flurried once at the end of a round (effectively) and didn’t even try to leave a last impression for the judges. He LOST, guys. Barely, but he lost. Wait, let me rephrase that- PACQUIAO WON.

Fight was boring. I used to love boxing 10 years ago, before I had any better fighting sports to watch.

Every time I give it a go and watch a match, hoping it will reignite some nostalgic feelings I’m reminded of why it was so easy to stop watching in the first place. At least this bout didn’t end in complete disgrace like so many others.

And what the F*** is wrong with Jim Lampley now? His commentating was never so high strung years ago. Now he’s yelling like a mad man every time a guy lands a jab. Annoying as hell.

Not to mention his assessment of the fight was off the mark.

Justsayin Says, in 11-14-2011 at 21:46:26 from

And, it’s obvious some of you guys are either trolling or being drama-queens with this “robbery” talk. This fight was close, and if anybody won(Manny, js), it was by a narrow margin.

Common Sense! Says, in 11-14-2011 at 23:05:51 from

I had Marquez winning 3 rounds (maybe 4). Pacquiao was far busier, landed more punches, and was the aggresor, period! Bob Arum (or whatever his name is) after the fight saying “we can do it again” goes to show you how garbage boxing really is. A 4th fight between Pacquiao and Marquez, really? Just shut up and give the people what they want, Pacquiao vs Mayweather! It’s no wonder that the UFC’s taken over for years now…

If anybody thinks marquez won this fight, check out this video
what do you think bruno???

Bruno: I am a southpaw and used to step on peoples feet all the time. Just part of the sport. If both fighters duck and lunge a lot it happens quite a bit. I would put step in leg deep enough inside their knee to make them back out to my power side. If the ref let it go on there was no reason for Marquez to stop.

As I watched this fight, the thought came to my mind that Pacquiao looks different, not as strong not as fierce, like as if maybe he was on PEDs in the past but he let off them for this fight.

hahaha Says, in 11-15-2011 at 03:50:55 from

Why Manny won:
In a 10-point system, the boxer who wins a round is given 10 points, and the other boxer gets nine points. (10 -9)
If there was a knockdown in the round (10-8)
2 knock downs (10-7)
If a judge can’t decide who won the round, it is scored 10-10.
Now if u are the challenger, u must be the aggressor (Pacquiao vs Cotto) in very close rounds the Champion gets the 10. For example if Pacquiao would just stay still and Marquez does not attack, Pacquiao gets the 10 and Marquez 9. In this case Manny(champion) was always aggressive while Marquez(challenger) waits for an attack and counters.
Marquez’s body language fooled a lot of people. Making people feel that he was the winner or at least it was a draw. It may look like he was landing more punches but the tricky part here is he was on the defensive, luring pacquiao into his tactical traps (remember the challenger must be the one who is aggressive to be awarded 10 ). So even if Marquez did connect more punches he gets only 9 for being defensive and manny gets the 10 for being the attacker.
Pacquiao got more “10″s than Marquez. Manny wins.

THERE WILL BE NO PACQUIAO VS MARQUEZ III if one of the judge from their first fight scores it right. 2 of the judges there score pacquiao 10-7 because he knock down marquez 3 times in the 1st round of their first fight. But 1 judge scored it 10-8 and the match became a DRAW. So if there is to be blaim, dont blaim the fighters blaim the f****** judges.

wait! have you guys seen this! this is how they say JMM fight.

Todays steroids can only be detected via random olympic style blood testing! Manny Pacman is on steroids thats why he refuses all random olympic style test. Marquez didn’t win one round when he fought Mayweather! Mayweather knocked him down and had him the most frustrated hes ever been in the ring, officially destroyedem nearly finished em. Bob’s trying to milk fraud Paqcrap for what he’s worth; Manny’s a joke even with steroids unless he gets into a slug fest; Marquez said Mayweather’s far better!

DD your boxing background doesn’t give you any more credibility. People judging and commentating the fight are way more qualified to do this. After watching this fight 3 times, I still think that the result is absolutely fair. It could be a draw just to satisfy the public and Marquez’s corner, but draws don’t win belts. Pacman landed more and was more aggressive through the fight. He fought the way Marquez should have been fighting. Marquez wasn’t fighting to win the belt, he was fighting not to lose again.
Fair result.
