It’s a local reporter talking about how the people of Para’ (a relatively poor state in the north of Brazil for the geographically challenged) received him as a hero.
The biggest point (not what she said) is that not many great fighters come from that state as they usually come from richer regions like Rio or Sao Paulo (A. Silva is from Curitiba, Parana’ – another rich city in the south of Brazil).
Machida really had to overcome a lot to become a champion (though most fighters do) and put karate back in the map since the fall of Chuck Lidell and his Kempo Karate.

I find people who say technique and masterful footwork are boring quite amusing. This is mixed MARTIAL ARTS. Emphasis on MARTIAL ARTS. Lyoto is a true martial artist that uses his years of hard training and flawless martial technique to overwhelm his opponents.
