Strikeforce lost it’s primary financial backers who owned an NHL Hockey team.

The UFC saw an opportunity to buy the second largest MMA Company and a viable competitor to the UFC.

This is Business 101 buy out competing Brands/Company’s to protect your MARKET SHARE! It’s also Anti-Trade and Anti-Competition.

Business does not like or encourage Competition.

The UFC than bought Strikeforce,the UFC than transferred fighters to the UFC.

THe UFC GUTTED Strikeforce and hastened it’s closure.

Only a Moron would believe the UFC did not screw over Strike Force. Just like the buyout of Pride.

Again Strikeforce was fine for 20+ years UNTIL THE UFC GOT DONE WITH IT NOW IT NO LONGER EXISTS!

The UFC for all practical purposes is a MONOPOLY.

The investigation attempted to determine whether Zuffa violated “Section 7 of the Clayton Act or Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act” when it purchased Strikeforce this past March, the letter stated.

Section 7 of the Clayton Act addresses business monopolies while section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act addresses unfair or deceptive business practices.

“This action is not to be construed as a determination that a violation may not have occurred, just as the pendency of an investigation should not be construed as a determination that a violation has occurred,” the letter stated. “The Commission reserves the right to take such further action as the public interest may require.”

The fact remains fighters do NOT have a fair Revenue Share nor Medical or Pension Protection once they retire or leave the UFC like other sports leagues the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.

Only a Moron would argue against a equal share and fighter protection for a league structure like the NFL etc.

If you’re going to comment on things, at least know the basic background behind them. Strikeforce was sold by its majority stakeholder who wanted out of the business. The UFC was sole principal interested party. Strikeforce was brought down by poor management more than anything else. Their failed copromotion with M-1 and the Fedor deal.

The bottom line is, the UFC has been federally investigated for being a monopoly and determined not to be. I’d say that investigation outweighs the opinion of the Internet wise guy.

So perhaps First Semester Monopoly isn’t good enough, and you need to go back and take the upper division Monopoly 524.

First the UFC is a Business just as the NFL, NBA, NHL & MLB are.

The UFC EXCEEDS Billion Dollar Company Valuation as the Company that has Monopoly Share in its sector just as other Leagues are far in Excess of A Billion Dollar valuation.

A Monopoly will and does screw up BOTH Supply & Demand thats why they are mostly illegal via Anti – Trust Law, the UFC faces little Risk today.

The UFC bought out their strongest competitor Strike Force & had the power…

(i) Take Fighters over to the UFC GUTTING Strikeforce

(ii) to shut it down by not Agreeing to Fund it any further AFTER they got most of the Best Fighters & left the 20+ year Strikeforce a shell of its former self.

Funny how Strikeforce grew for 20+ years until the UFC got their dirty hands on them.

Funny hows theres no more Strikeforce AFTER the UFC took their fighters.

THe UFC have systematically bought out their strongest Competitors with the HIGHEST PUBLIC DEMAND / PROFILE FIGHTERS! PRIDE, STRIKEFORCE etc.

Therefore its these Fighters who really make the UFC a commercial success and they should reap a FAIR SHARE like most other Major Sports Leagues, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB.

I have been following the UFC not just as a Fan but as a professional sports bettor since UFC 1 & Royce Gracie.

To be successful over a long time you need proper Risk Analysis & Information into the Fighters situations & how and why match-ups are made.

I run my own business in Software which I grew from 1 to over 300 employees.

I fully understand the Ins & Outs of Pro Sports.

I also call a spade a spade the UFC are RIPPING the Fighters Off by NOT having a League Structure like the NFL, NHL, MLB & NBA.

There are NO Pensions after Fighters retire most will suffer Early Dementia ala NFL Players from concussions.

There are NO Health Care Plan once fighters leave or Retire from the UFC.

The UFC / Dana use the Fighters milk them for the highest Dollar $$$ than DUMP Them like Rampage than on to the next up & coming fighters. Rinse Repeat.

The Match-ups & Revenue Share should be taken out of the UFC / Danas hands like the Leagues, NFL etc where the team / fighters that win get the Championship Match.

The Revenue should be Shared evenly!

Both Fighters & Fans Deserve better, much better.

Until than I watch fights on sites like MMATKO I Boycott UFC PPV and & don’t go to Live UFC Events.

If you believe you can do what Dana White does prove it! 99% of people would quit after day one. Like most execs, that guy works harder than most of us. It’s not like he does everything that makes the company run but if you understood even a little about running a business you wouldn’t say some of the things you just said.

Also, how do you figure getting paid more will enable people to train better? Yes, getting paid enough to not have to have a second job will make an enormous difference. But if I can afford multiple cars and a fancy house (which many fighters have), how do I not have enough money to train hard? You really think Mayweather has a better gym than the top mma guys have? Have you watched any videos of Pretty Boy training?

The real difference is that with the NBA, NFL and other sports monopolies the federal government has issued a special exemption from antitrust laws. With that exemption comes certain duties and restrictions, some of which allow for player’s unions and the revenue sharing.
