Yves Edwards was once referred as the uncrowned king of the 155lbs division. Edwards will travel to Northern Ireland next month to fight at the Cage Wars Ireland vs. America show at the Kings Hall in Belfast.
Edwards (29-13-1) will take on the Dutchman Vincent Latoel (13-10-1), who is trained by Shooto Japan veteran Martijn De Jong. This will be Edwards’ first fight since joining the American Top Team last week.
Edwards is a 10 time UFC and 3 time Pride Veteran. He has recently had an uneventful run with BodogFIGHT. Although he may be in a slump with only 1 win in his last 6 fights, this is a impressive signing for Cage Wars and the G4 organization as they look to improve their name in Europe.
Latoel should not be discounted due to his submission background and hot streak which has seen him win 9 of his last 10 bouts, with most of those wins coming in the European Shooto circuit. However the self made master of “Thugjitsu” will be the Dutchman’s toughest test so far.
The rest of the fight card has not be finalized but will consist of a mix of European fighters fighting it out against US imports.
