After watching MMA for several years, boxing is really frustrating to watch boxing. The ref separating fighters almost constantly, being unable to finish an opponent you’ve just injured, etc… And, by the way, they say that MMA guys can’t throw clean, technical strikes… ya…

For all the comments on here, I can’t believe out of all the comments about ribs or the fight being fixed, not one person mentioned that the punch was a TEXTBOOK liver shot!!! Bas Rutten would be disappointed in all of you…and probably give props to Kimbo Slice. Come to think of it, Kimbo trained with Bas for awhile. Interesting that Kimbo used Bas’ favorite punch!

Exactly. From what I’ve heard about liver shots (I have never taken a direct liver shot) they have the ability to render the body incapacitated, ie- unable to move.
Some fighter explained liver shot knockout, I don’t remember who, as in a different kind of knockout that is produced by the liver being in such pain that the body’s controls are overridden. He said it was different from concussion knockouts because you’re fully conscious but not in a position to be able to tell your body what to do and have it respond.
He also said that while concussion knockouts make you hazy and confused they didn’t hurt as much as a liver shot knockout, where you’re mentally alert and just helpless in shocking pain.
All of that said, I don’t know that the fight isn’t fixed anyway.

Totally agree with “NotVinnieJones” I can’t believe the amount of ignorant comments posted, They must be all young viewers because their lack of understanding of what happened in that fight is shocking. Kimbo is 39yr old and 234 Lbs. when your that old and that heavy your and put on a performance like that in the first round your gonna get tired. These guys are not top end heavyweights but what a performance by both fighters. fantastic finish.

@those saying it was fixed… it was too even until that point for that to realistically be the case. I think the ribs got badly bruised or broken or he took that punch full in the liver (looked like the liver). that’s a horrible punch to receive and I’ve been put down with that punch before. It takes all the energy out of you and takes more than 10 seconds to recover
